  1. Doc has to be Baker but Smith is the best out of the new lot.

Amy Pond... Scottish, red and leggy - awesome combo.

The Master has to be the best baddie though I think they cheated him by killing him off. Again.

Fave episode was I, Dalek (I think it was called) with the lone, single Dalek on the loose. Ecclestone's Dr did good with the fear as soon as he saw what it was. Really brought home the threat of those things.

I'd like to see more of Michelle Ryan's character whose name escapes me, she was the leather clad thief that flew off in a double decker bus (only on Dr Who).

And Blake's 7 is my absolute favourite sci-fi. Avon and Servalan are just sublime.

  2. lol i might use that.

A word of caution if treading this path; most, if not all, women will compartmentalise things like hair-do, nails and other beauty and pampering sessions as a monthly bill rather than non-necessary expenditure.

To a female, guys have no such equivalent unless the money is being spent on said female.

  3. It's a very British thing for me, we can't all just go around saying how much we love each other all day. ;)

Exactly, how would Hollywood have coped if on the Death Star every second imperial officer were hugging and crying like the over emotional persons seen on the likes of Lake, Stringer and the other one?

Jack Baur (super hard American agent in 24 played by Keifer Sutherland) sits in his car and cries for reasons I don't care to understand. Agent Smith (super hard British agent in Where Eagles Dare played by Richard Burton) gets shot in the hand and doesn't even shout the words "Damn, blast."

I love Malifaux almost as much as my own kids but I'm British so I'll get hung for making such a statement. By the Mrs if nobody else.

  4. I've got a mere 3 tats and my first was at age 20. It's of an ankh because I was mad on Sandman (comics) and loved the idea of Death being a hot goth chick (she wears an ankh around her neck). It's also general and well known enough to mean I still don't, nearly 20 years on, get embarrassed about it. Had I put a GW Dark Angel emblem on my arm instead I would surely be thinking differently.

Golden rule is be 100% certain what you want and where before you get it done and consider how you'll feel if Wyrd/PP/GW go bust in 18 months and you look at your tat wondering 'why the flip did I do that?' years down the line.

My next ink will be of my boys' hand prints. Their initials are B and D and I plan to have them arranged to look like 'db'. Trouble is I don't know where...

  5. Gamer first and pretty much only.

If I am in the right mood on the right day, the wind is in the right direction and the Moon is aligned with Mars etc, I might think about considering doing some actual painting of miniatures. Usually though I can find something else to do.

Please understand it's not that I am lazy or not very good, quite the contrary but between work, kids, trying to be sociable to my mrs and balancing other life escaping frolics, painting is a very low priority to be entertained very often.

  6. I too got into the WM/H after GW got greedy for the nth time.

The games play great and often the winner ain't decided until the last die roll; many times has defeat been snatched from the hand of victory! It's fast and brutal and your force plays completly differently just by altering your leader. I never regretted buying a single mini for either game. Well maybe the Raek.

The whole mkII thing though sparked me into Malifaux, the cost of upgrading both Warmachine and Hordes was over £100 before buying any new minis, whereas starting Malifaux about half of this. For a new game!

  7. Once I was playing Rhyas vs Sorcha and after a hard battle having my rear end handed to me by massive metal machines I had the perfect charge in the bag. Luckily my near dead carny whittled the icy beeatch's health down so I needed a damage roll total of 5 to take her head.

I had to use my last fury point to boost the hit (for an extra dice): lots of dots -no probs.

4 dice on the damage roll, only a total of 5 needed to kill her.

    4 1's.

    I hate dice.

  8. Thankies all, your comments and best wishes warm my heart (I have experience of far less friendly forums).

My opponent is a little anal though so trying to convince him to lower the points might be tricky but the point about breaking down the swarm might help.

I was favoring the punks over Bete only to get more corpse tokens and raise more belles. Must say I find ProdigalPunk's list intriguing...

Thanks again and the bat-rep will be forthcoming when the deed is done.

  9. Hi. I'm new to Malifaux and can not wait to play my first game. I have roped in a friend and he's got the Ramos box which, according to my math is 28 SS, so lets say we play a 30SS game so he can play with everything he has.

I bought a few minis from a site selling off Maliminis cheap:

    3 Belles

    3 Punks

    Bete Noire

    Copycat Killer

I also have the Seamus box.

Our first game might well be spent playing/rule checking in a 50/50 mix SO, for 30SS I was thinking either:

    Seamus

    Sybelle

    3 Belles

    2 Punks for 28SS + 4SS to play with

    OR

    Seamus

    Sybelle

    3 Belles

Bete for 27SS + 5SS for moments where fate needs encouragement.

Would these be good for a first game? Any other ideas (and helpful tactics) I should also consider would also be appreciated.

    Thanks muchly.

  10. I downloaded the rules and bought the demons box about a month before the game folded last year. I was doubly gutted when nobody else picked it up so I sold the minis on eBay. Shame as the game mechanics were very interesting, and written a little tongue in cheek.

I wanted a golden cucumber of dominance.

Glad to see it's been given a new lease of life and a proper English book is coming out, though Malifaux has taken any place in my life that Hell Dorado could have occupied.
