  1. Note that theTN is not a separate flip or anything like that. It is handled within the normal opposed duel process, which works as normal.

People often get confused, especially around cheating on this one. It is possible for the attacker to be winning the duel without meeting the TN and the defender still decides whether to cheat or not first. The attacker can then cheat to meet the TN.

Note that Wisps are insignificant, so won't be dropping scheme markers or anything else that requires interacting. But their Feed On The Lost ability can get scheme markers down with a little set up.

Not a Neverborn here, but I can tell you that Corrupted Hounds are commonly seen across various Neverborn crews (especially Lilith) in Polish Malifaux scene and they are in the meta. As for Zoraida specifically, I did play against her crew containing Hounds and they performed absolutely fine, as in any other crew. There was no chance of utilising A New Master though, simply because they were scheming on flank, while Zoraida was hexing, bewitching and obeying my crew in the middle.

    Thanks for that info tlsg.

I'll certainly be looking to activation and scheme duty first, but it would be interesting to see if they can bring utility in other areas like gumming things up and taking advantage of black blood or similar.

When you have seen them, are people tending to take a pair, or three or four?

  4. Anyone tried Corrupted Hounds with Zoraida?

Im looking at running a few for a leg up in activation, and their A New Master ability will be nice if you want to use obeys on them.

At only 3ss each they're not too much of an investment, even if you never obey them at all.

    Awesome thanks for that!

Right now I’m thinking of this as my initial 50ss crew foray and that’s with just the starter and Lilith’s crew:

    Leader: Lilith - Cache:(4)
       Summon The Blood
       Wicked Mistress
       On Wings of Darkness
    Cherub
    Barbaros
       Obsidian Talons
       Nephilim Gladiatus
    Scion of Black Blood
    Terror Tot
    Terror Tot
    Bloodwretch
    Bloodwretch
    Terror Tot

Looks like a good start. Plenty of activations too which is great.

Make sure you try out the Beckon Malifaux upgrade at some point. The things you can do with Illusionary Forest once you have a handle on things is pretty amazing.

Many players consider Beckon Malifaux and Wings of Darkness auto-take for Lilith, but try them all and find what fits with your play style.

  6. Normally the first purchase each round has a 5ss discount.

This means you can get a model up to 5ss for free. Or you can buy Nekima for 8ss instead (for example).

If you have 9ss after your game against Seamus, you effectively have 14ss to spend on the first new model. Anything after the first one gets no discount.

  7. One trick I've seen is with Sloth. He's rarely seen so his defensive trigger Just Lay Down can catch people out. Expect that to work exactly once however :) Zoraida has something similar, but it'd be a brave man to risk her as bait!

Some more practical ideas might be Lilith with her LoS blocking forests, severe and/or hazardous terrain from various sources, or Disguised models like Serena Bowman or Tuco(!) clogging up charge lanes.

Ultimately though, being glass cannons is the Victoria's schtick. Spreading to minimise the cannon part and making sure to take advantage of the glass is usually the most reliable plan.

  8. Lilith has plenty of depth to her so I'd recommend getting a really solid grip on the game with her before branching to another Master. But I know it's sooo tempting :)

You won't go wrong picking up Nekima, Doppelganger, Mr. Graves, and Primordial Magic as they're useful under multiple Masters. I'm also a fan of the Mysterious Emissary and Widow Weaver but their use can be a little more specific.

Collodi's typical crew play is different to other Masters, but once you get the hang of it no more difficult, and very potent. Note that he probably has the least amount of crossover with the rest of the faction in terms of models in the box.

  9. A Hungry Land marker right where your opponent doesn't want it, before they've activated anything could be pretty oppressive :) Might as well throw a Changeling out there too for added annoyance. Actually as you can't interact 1st turn with FTS models, this would be difficult.

Could this possibly make Tuco useful?! If he's 1 of 4 models up in the enemy's grill, his survivability goes up and he can harass quite well...?

  10. I'd probably sit Lilith in tier 1 on flexibility.

In my experience, her own AP are incredibly useful every turn, regardless of strat/schemes. She can manipulate better than most - move enemy models and her own crew, create terrain, see through terrain, and be a serious beat stick when needed. I've soloed her through a few tournaments now, and found that she can find a way through most problems an opponent will throw your way.

I also like having 8 cards to choose from at the start of each turn :) (requires a friendly neighborhood pukeworm, but you were probably taking him anyway right? ).

She becomes more powerful as you get to know her. Of course this is true of most Masters, but I've not played another Master that can so totally change up how she is contributing turn to turn.

  11. Tried out Collodi for the first time today. Fun and definitely challenging to wrap my head around placement and activation order.

One thing I really noticed was the nasty power of My Will with a Stitched. That combo alone easily dealt out 70+% of the damage I put out across 3 games. Once something was in range of the Stitched (helped out by the Beckoner), it was basically dead from up to 4 Gambles with a + twist. I wasn't somehow playing that wrong was I?

  12. Looking at starting with Ms.Tara myself.

Trying to get my head around Glimpse the Void (or Bury in general) mechanics which seem a little more limited than I had originally thought.

    • Glimpse can only trigger if no other models are buried. So if the opponent has a buried model(s) I can't use Glimpse? Does this actually come up often (not sure if things like Ikiryo and LCB are buried or not?)
    • If I use Pine Box (or other mechanic) to bury a model I can't Glimpse?
    • But I could Glimpse and then still Pine Box? (Don't have the card in front of me, so not sure if Pine Box has a similar restriction on it?)
    • Models buried via Glimpse must unbury when another model is killed. Does this limit Tara's ability to unbury where/when she wants to for tactics like the beast bomb?

Hoping to get some obliteration into my local meta soon :)
