  1. I'd like to announce a new Malifaux-centric podcast, Faux Show! In the first episode we introduce ourselves and how we met, share our first (sometimes hilarious) impressions of each other, as well as giving a quick run down of future segments we plan to regularly include in the show. We finish it off with a discussion on Gottacon, a big convention in Victoria, BC which is coming up at the end of February.

Episode 1 can be found on our website here: Faux Show Episode 1 - The Really Big Intro

Also check out our Facebook Page, and follow us on Twitter @FauxShowCa

As an aside, in future we’ll make a point of announcing breaks (musical interludes were a bit abrupt in this episode but I felt it better than letting the conversation run…). Amateurs, ha!

  2. The line you quoted doesn't make much sense to me, since if either model is in the other's engagement range they are both considered Engaged. If in fact they are not engaged then that has repercussions on randomizing shooting.

Further, a paralyzed model is only prohibited from taking actions during it's own turn, so its arguably possible for a paralyzed model to make a disengaging strike against a model in base contact trying to move away.

I think the intent is no disengaging strike is possible, so that's how I'd play it.

  3. That was actually from me no idea why they included Steve as the sender. I sent them an email asking to mark it as a gift but unfortunately they had no way of including a message so I waited until you get it. Hope you enjoy it and have fun with it.

That explains it, thanks so much for the crew, Bruno. I'm stoked to have Ramos in the collection!

  4. He's still great, as his own stuff dies he brings it back again. He can have trouble against crews that can remove corpse counters, though it's not a guaranteed loss or anything. Bring methods to generate your own corpses (Mortimer, canines, etc), protect your corpses (Maniacal Laugh), and focus your attention on the enemy models that can use/remove your counters.

  5. I just finished assembly on this box myself. Love it! Samael was moderately frustrating with all the loops and straps and what-nots.

The Purifying Flame actually wasn't that bad; I started with gluing the legs to the base, then one hip at a time to the legs (I didn't want to chance trying to glue both points at once, and the pieces are flexible enough to glue the second after the first has set).

  6. There may be abilities that may reduce damage to 0, or that don't have the "to a minimum of 1" clause. Originally I'd have said this was to get around soulstone prevention, but according to the FAQ it is not considered damage reduction.

In the end, it's going to be a very rarely used perk to the upgrade, which is going to be picked up mostly for the Paralyze trigger, which is more than worth the cost of the upgrade on its own.

    Rules:

Malifood will be using the Malifaux 2nd Edition (M2e) rules. You may use any models with available rules, both the released "Wave 1" models, and "Wave 2" models which will still be in Open Beta during the tournament. For Wave 1 models, you must use official cards for models which are included in the Wave 1 Arsenal stat card packs. If you would like to use models from the Wave 2 open beta, it is your responsibility to print up-to-date stat cards and bring them with you.

    Games will be 35ss.

You must select one Faction to use for all of the games.

Strategies: Each game will have a unique Strategy which will be a story encounter based off of the Strategies in the M2e rulebook. They will be posted online and a link will be e-mailed to each participant closer to the event. There will also be hardcopies on hand at the event for each participant.

Schemes: The Tournament Organizer will randomly determine a Scheme Pool from which all players will choose schemes at the start of each game.

    What to bring:

    •Painted models (3 colour minimum!)

•Stat Cards (official cards for released models, or up-to-date printouts for Open Beta models)

    •Fate Deck

    •Tape Measure

•30mm Scheme Markers (blank bases work in a pinch)

•30mm Corpse and Scrap Markers (if required for your crews)

    •Rulebook (recommended)

    Scoring and award categories

Best Overall - Highest overall score

Best General - Highest score in Battle Points

Best Sportsman - Highest favorite opponent score

Best Army Presentation - Highest army presentation score

    Battle Points are Win = 3pts, Draw = 2pts, and Loss = 0pts

In the event of a Draw for Best General, the player with the most VPs will win.

  8. Compared to Sonnia Criid's Visions of Flame, "Attack Actions this model takes against targets with the Burning Condition ignore LoS and cover." Clearly, Sonnia is Ignoring LoS and cover, and could not do so against a Burning Silurid.

Conversely, Lilith simply does not need LoS. Fine distinction yes, but I'd agree Lilith can target the Silurid just fine.

  9. Yes, and each set would last until the model that created them activates next (or when they die, they don't disappear at the end of the turn).

I think you could take Hannah and copy Magical Extension from the Wendigo to cast Ice Pillars a third time too.... Bit of a loophole there I think, but it works as far as I can see.

  10. If you moved 0.0000001" then you have moved.

    0"movement = no movement.

Anything greater than 0" movement = that much movement.

It's simple math and I'd have expected if the intent were otherwise that some sort of definition in the rules would say that a model that moves, but doesn't move, still counts as moving.
