It's going well! I built my trees earlier today, everything but the birds anyway. I'm actually pretty excited about how they came out.
I also figured out how to keep the Hanging Tree from getting that big gap that I've seen so often, and seen people stressing about.
I score this as a win!
How are you?

lol the dude on the right as we look on the lower pic looks sort of in trouble, what with some form of monster climbing out of his head?
"It's not a tumor!"
Thanks for the shot DaemonChild, that's a nice start!

Welcome to the game, and community!

To build on Ausplosions' comment: Having more Masters, and models, for one faction can help with having "just the right model" for the circumstances.
Malifaux is VERY situational. Your ability to stay on task in the face of crazy stuff, and take advantage of the wild stuff going on, will make or break your games. I love that aspect of it.
Welcome to the community!

Rameses, that's a good looking model!
Not in the Victoria Secret girl kind of way, mind you. Luckily.

It looks as though the the inset teeth piece is contributing to the gap. If that's the case then shaving down the outside of it would help the two halves of the model come closer together.
Anyone have any experience with that?

IF I RECALL CORRECTLY (don't yell at me if I'm wrong), they said they would no longer be making separate blister/boxes for models in a box.
If you look at the sprues of the box sets you have the non-uniques on the same sprues as the unique. So I think they only made 1 set of molds for each models and if on the same sprue they are unwilling to make a separate.
It was the Unique models that would no longer be sold separately.

Gaining Poison 2 just means that you gain two poison counters, and they're handled as normal, as roboshmoo pointed out.
I think "target suffers poison2" makes it sound like it's an immediate thing. I prefer the new language.

Yeah, I guess that's what I'm kind of stumbling over. Malifaux Roulette says the target "gains Poison 2" which is awfully similar to, for instance, the buff effect that a Wicked Doll gives adjacent friendly models ("gains Poison 1").The Wicked Doll specifically states the other "model's melee Strikes gain Poison 1." This means that it drops 1 Poison counter onto an enemy is hits during any of its melee strikes.

Or does it mean that the attack gains Poison 2, and the target now gains two Poison Tokens? That would make a lot more sense.
This one is correct.

That wood grain is beautiful! It's some of the nicest I've seen yet.

Once again didn't it didn't have the Freikorps characteristic, I said it didn't have the "Freikorps Mercenary" ability.
Yep, that's a good point. I wouldn't be too surprised if that was an oversight and it gets tweaked at release.
Then again, it might have been intentional, and in that case it won't. We'll have to wait and see.

A lot of forums immediately, and often permanently, ban users for posting full stats.
So saying "heavy handed mod" in this case just sounds childish to me.
Also: The model DOES have the Freikorps characteristic.

My only regret about the Hanging Tree was a lack of money to purchase it.
Wish I had one to get out to you :/

I haven't regretted buying the Wyrd Hanging Trees, and I don't expect to. Doing a limited run in plastic like this has got to be pretty expensive. Cutting a mold will always be a static expense, amortized over time by selling LOTS of models. In this case it being such a short run they had to recoup the cost in far fewer models, and I'm fine with that.
quickfuze, That's an awesome point, I'm kind of excited about it now! I was planning on sculpting some more trees, that might help me out a bunch.

I never would have considered this! I would always have made my armatures of other things....
This is flipping brilliant.

I have no idea how the heck wyrd intended to base the illuminated with the monster on his back. The toes only to glue him down on such a top heavy model plastic or no was stupid. I am used to wyrds thin arms and fiddly sword bits but i am very disapointed in this model. The rest of the set is solid tho
It's isn't going to be a problem at all. It's not like it's top heavy and needs a ton of support. A dab of glue, and a little putty on his toes and he'll be sorted. I WOULD use a light base, or pin him to a heavier pewter base, to ensure he doesn't have any issues. The fact that I have the option to do make a decision that fits my own style of doing things is nice, rather than the necessity of a single solution by the original sculptor.

The only thing that annoys me is that it's impossible for me to even get a shot at it. The only LGS with places to play doesn't support malifaux at all, so we're not even encouraged/welcome to play there (which is a logical business decision of them).
I have 5 crews built very well, but unpainted, so i can't apply to be a henchman. And even then...who would i play with in Quebec? The closest henchman with a play group is over 230km away. Thankfully i have my bride-to-be who loves the game.
It's fair for people who work hard to get rewards, but i do feel a bit miffed at not even having the opportunity to work hard for it
My response is two part. One, it was specifically a thank you for Henchman at this point. Two, there's a chance that it will be a little more open in the future, still in extremely limited quantities. There's talk of it being used for some sort of awesome prize support, so don't get too discouraged.
There's always the secondary market, which is usually how I end up with special edition models.
-
I don't know maybe it was all just hearsay.
Yeah, that's completely false. There have been two ways to earn the model so far, and both were pretty darned tough to do.

I have yet to have a problem like you're describing against Hamelin as a Guild player.
Your LGS's distributor likely hasn't put in an order for a long while, the Pale Rider is in stock all over the place.
It sounds like you need some time to vent. Go ahead and do that, and come back when you're willing to listen to people that beat Hamelin with the Guild masters using mdoels that are available right now.

Cool info but I was wondering will simple green damage plastic models or any green stuffing that may have occurred also how does it affect resin thanks for the info.
I've NEVER heard of Simple Green doing harm when used for a short amount of time. I HAVE heard of it softening plastic if it's left in the liquid too long. I have NO idea what too long would be... I think it''s typically more than a few days.
I would test the resin in a bath for a day or two. A bit of the resin sprue or something if you have it. Otherwise I would soak it for a day, scrub it down, and let it dry. That is NO guarantee that something won't go wrong, resins are pretty different from one another.

I've been a gamer since '83. I did a LOT of RPG stuff, and discovered WFRP first out of the GW games. I played GW stuff, mostly 40K from about '94 to '04 on and off. This includes a period of time that I worked for them.
I moved back to NC from California, and found a comic and game shop (a necessity for me!) and saw the book sitting on the shelf. Over the next month I would pick it up, flip through it, and put it back down. Finally I realized I was hooked, bought the book, got Perdita and Zoraida, and ran with it.

Thanks for posting this!
I think it gets really easy for people to start arguing about imbalances they imagine. It gets worse when people get to the point of not being able to see their opinion as just that, and insist that it's actually fact. They'll then start finding "evidence" to back them up, ignoring any other input as it doesn't help their case, often dismissing it as blatant lies, and the message bearer as stupid, a bad player, and on and on ad nauseum.
Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

Wait, so gencon is awesome, but the downside is that you can't actually enjoy yourgoodies for days while you recover? Damn, tough choice...
Good point.... I'm a little slow in the best of times. There's been a serious sleep issue that's been hurting my productivity.

What's the class?
Human Relations (in business), Human Resources Management, International Business, and Personal Finance.
Three of them are online, and I totally ignored them at GenCon!
It was too much fun to feel bad about it.

Evening, everyone having fun? How's the gencon recovery going?Slowly. My sleep is all wonky at the moment. I haven't even had time to delve into my new plastics!

Ohhh, overnight work was crazy for me. I found I couldn't keep the schedule on my days off, I HAD to sleep a night a week. If I did that I could handle it.
Plus I drank yerba mate tea on my nights on, and kambucha just before I went to sleep.
Take pictures of the box set as it comes together!
