  1. Ummmm, Is it a dead canary? I haven't got the actual model, but that's what I thought it was when I saw the first pics on the site. I could be completely wrong though, so maybe wait for a person who actually owns one/sculpted it...
  2. Mortimer comes in two parts, His hands with the shovel and the rest of his body. His legs are mostly under his jacket so it may be difficult to remove them, but if you only wanted the bottom of them or feet or something else that would be easy.
  3. I love the way you've done Judge's white coat... What colours did you use for the shadowing and layering? I've heard white is hard to do, but that looks impeccable!! The others are awesome too, gloss varnish on LadyJ's leather top? All in all, that is an awesome looking crew!!
  4. Thankyou all for the awesome feedback and tips! It definitely wasn't the look I was going for, but that link you gave was excellent!!! I checked it out the morning you posted it, unfortunately I was having some issues with internet so couldn't post my thanks then... I'm going to give the quick fix of trying to fill it in carefully around, using that webpage as a guide, as I don't want to ruin his face completely, but next mini I start with normal eyes (I'm doing some zombies at the moment) I'm going to ensure to follow those instructions very closely!! If anyone has any tips on my painting and can give excellent links like that to show me how to do something or a DVD I should check out please don't hesitate to comment!!
  5. The fire looks really good to my untrained novice eyes! It's blended well from bright to dark at the tips, for a first try it looks cool! Ramos' face looks slightly flat maybe?? It may just be the photo, but maybe a wash of some sort to darken him up a bit? Or an even brighter highlight if you are going for the pale living in a mine look...
  6. Thankyou Darkover, I think my favourite part is the shovel too... I also agree with the base, it seems to be a bit flat or something. I'm going to try and lighten some of the grass up with a drybrushing and maybe take some of the green away with some devlan mud... A drybrush to lighten the dirt might help too?? I'll see how I go. Thanks again.
  7. After the relative success of my first ever miniature Seamus... http://www.wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11764 I have decided to keep track of my progress with a blog on here to get comments and feedback as well as for longevity for me... I hope to improve with each paintjob (or at least not get worse) and will only do that with practice and criticism (constructive ). So, here is my first fully completed miniature and second ever painted mini, Mortimer, I am going to finish Seamus' base off tomorrow so he can be finalised as well... The pictures aren't the brightest, but I hope the essence comes across. I'll be reposting all pictures as I improve my photography skills as well. I also noticed that Mortimers face isn't really in focus so I need to take that one again too... Thanks in advance for any comments!!
  8. Those look awesome! It's good to see some more necropunks on here, I really like the bright colours you've given them, It's a nice contrast to the paleness of their skin.
  9. The dragon forge Square Cut Slate tiles are very similar, they're just in a different paint job. They are different enough that they may not be quite what you are after though. Those Armorcast broken tile bases for McMournings crew are so awesome!!!! http://dragonforge.com/Painting%20service/for%20sale/base_sets/round%20lip%20bases/square_cut_slate_tile_rlb.htm
  10. I must admit I love the Seamus sculpt... I think the fact that he is so clean and unmarred makes him terrifying amongst a bunch of dirty so and so's.... But I saw this mini the other day at fiendish fabrications in a thread that made me think of a jack the ripper character... It's designed in a sweeny todd style I think, but the chirugeon barber looks freaky to me... Fiendish Fabrications is an Australian company, but you may be able to find Gothica Mini's from a different place too if they are not exclusive. http://www.fiendishfabrications.com.au/html/gothica_minis_ii_0.html Edit: Ooops, realised he doesn't have a pistol sculpted... up to you if that's important or if you can sculpt a pistol onto him/into his hand.
  11. Yeah, that would be nice... It would be like getting the graveyard base inserts without the gravestones or fence pailings... Hmmmmm, maybe a comment on the shop or something, It says it may need some assembly and doesn't include the plastic bases, but not that you need to buy more stuff to make the ones that are there... Oh well, I'll need to wait a while to base my Seamus I guess...
  12. I bought the 30mm victorian base inserts the other day from an online stockist and when I opened the blister I noticed that it was different to the pictures seen. There were 5 inserts, but the insert with the 2 small posts on it didn't contain those posts. I contacted the supplier who told me that the posts came with the accessories pack and that he checked his other base insert blisters and none contained those small posts. Looking at the picture of the accessories pack, there are no posts in the picture, nor is there a comment saying anything about there not being the small posts in the bases pack. Can anyone who has purchased these let me know what they got in their pack as I think it's a bit rude to have a picture that is not accurate. If the picture is correct then there is a batch that are missing them...
  13. Thanks, I realised that I should have started with a lesser model as I wanted Seamus done well. My original plan was actually to paint him first (Probably really badly), and then paint all my others and paint a Seamus at the end at the same time as a copycat killer. I may still do this even though Seamus was done no where near as badly as I had expected I would. That way I could take a before and after photo and see what improvement I had made. That would probably be a good idea as I could test out all of the ideas people gave me without stuffing the one I've already done.
  14. I've got the bases ordered and on their way, and I'm picking up the washes early next week, so I'll be able to finish Seamus off. I've finished Mortimer to the same stage as Seamus, so I'll start my new blog thread to add everyone to as I finish them. It'll give me a goal to aim for as well. I have checked out the brushthralls site in the past, It was one of the most useful when I was coming up with what I needed and how to go about painting in general, I think I'll revisit some of their articles now that I have actually put paint to metal...
  15. I like your sabretooth cerberus, I haven't seen too many on here and I like your take on it. Good Job!!
