  1. Had an odd situation come up tonight. Freikorps specialist hits Collette with the You're Flammable trigger, while also doing enough damage to kill her. I blow the morale test, and she runs, then dies and goes to Slow to Die. Can she use a soulstone to heal while she is Falling Back? The book specifies you can't do "general or specific movement actions", and we weren't sure if that implied "general actions / specific movement actions" as two completely seperate categories. Or if it meant "General movement actions / specific movement actions" where anything that isn't a move is legal.

  2. IMO, both options are pretty equal. The arachnid is more mobile and more durable, but the Rail Worker is more flexible. Either he can be more accurate from Paired, or he can ignore armor like the LSPA. And his moderate damage is better than the LSPA's. Shovel Faster can also help set up a target for Mei Feng to kill by applying a burning token in advance. I've been pretty happy with my Rail Workers, and have had them do some good work. And implacable assault means that if an opponent doesn't manage to kill them due to a metal gamin or something, they can really deliver a beating.

  3. Game Empire Pasadena will be hosting a Malifaux tournament this weekend. Game Empire is an excellent store with tons of room and lots of great people. We can support an almost unlimited number of players, so if you're in the area come on down.

    Gaining Grounds - Domination Format

    30 soulstones, Single Faction

    Random Expanded Encouters

    Unique Schemes, All Schemes Allowed

    85 Minute Rounds

Tournament starts at 10:30 AM, 3-4 rounds depending on number of players.

    Entry fee details coming soon.

  4. Ok, so in the new FAQ, we have the following tidbit:

[h=4]If I am performing multiple Damage Flips, is each of those Damage Flips an individual damage source?[/h] Yes, unless it is stated that they are totaled and then inflicted. (e.g. falling or the Red Joker instruct you to total the amount and inflict it)

In light of this, when Ryle makes multiple damage flips against a single model, does that model get to use its armor against each flip, since they are individual sources? I thought before that you totaled the damage, then subtracted armor. And previous rulings seem to support that. But after this, I'm not sure.

  5. I'm a big fan of announced Kill Protege. You're going to want to eliminate their best model anyways, and Lady J excels at that. So having that announced is basically saying "Make sure your best model never participates in this game, or I get 2 free VP's"

  6. I'm really looking forward to trying out Kaeris with Raspy. Ice Pillars + Fire Pillars gives a metric ton of board control. I'm thinking something like:

    Raspy

    Kaeris = 9

    Silent One x2 = 12

    Ice Gamin x2 = 8

    Essence of Power = 2

That's 31 stones, which gives me the max 8 remaining for Raspy to throw around. It's also just off the top of my head, so likely not optimized. But the ability to use all those pillars to funnel the opponent into being more clumped up so you can blast them to pieces sounds awesome. Not to mention cutting them off from objectives and such.

  7. I ran the Peacekeeper in 2 games tonight, and he did great. First game took out a convict gunslinger and Seamus for only a little bit of damage. Second game almost killed Rusty Alice and was on his way towards being able to wreak havoc on my opponent, but I didn't know a rule on Leveticus and he got death touched. I suspect he'll be a regular part of my Sonnia lists.

He's really tough, but he can drop to focused effort. But he can also do a lot of damage, and he's remarkably quick. Relentless means he can move once and still Flurry. Just gotta be careful about him eating up your hand.
