  1. Hey baby Kade and a day dream are "engaged" with an enemy model would have count as having a friendly target engaged?

From my perspective the day dream can't engage enemy models since it doesn't have a claw attack. From the enemy's perspective though he is engaged with both baby kade and the day dream since he has a claw attack that is in range of both models.

my thoughts are it should count and baby kade get the +2 damage.

  2. This makes me excited to run my all teddy Dreamer crew. I've got PW Teddies for the daydreams, Nightmare teddy, and I'll be getting a few of these at Gencon.

And how can Dreamer summon teddies? I see people saying Dreams of Pain but that doesn't work. The only model that can summon Teddy is Widow Weaver, iirc.

Add in Mr Tennen(sp) and you can summon Teddies.

  3. Look at your Killjoy, now look down, now back up.

    Your killjoy is now magical!!

See that sad face over there?

    ------>  :( <--------

That is your opponent's face when you tell them your Killjoy deals extra damage, ignores armour, ignores hard to kill and even ignores incorporeal. Best of all he gains a spiffy regeneration of 1 for all those turns you want to slaughter your opponents models.

  4. Wong and his Killjoy of magic look like a good match.

    Maybe something like this:

    Gremlins Crew - 50 - Scrap

    Wong -- 3 Pool
     +A Gremlin's Luck [1]
     +Dirty Cheater [1]
     +Explosive Solutions [2]

    Lovely Assistant [3]
    Killjoy [13]
     +Dirty Cheater [1]
    Lightning Bug [5]
    Pigapult [8]
    Sammy LaCroix [7]
     +Ooo Glowy [1]

  5. Just wondering if anyone can make me a quick 30pt noob friendly list for The Dreamer? One of my friends is interested in the game and the master she is most interested in is The Dreamer and Teddy's.

    Was looking at:

    Neverborn Crew - 30 - Dustup

    The Dreamer -- 3 Pool
     +Dreams of Pain [5]
     +Otherworldly [2]

    Daydream X 2 [4]
    Insidious Madness [5]
    Teddy [11]
     +On Dreaming Wings [2]
  6. Another option is to use Henchmen as leaders in games of 40 or less SS.

People like to use Masters though and don't think they should not be allowed in 40 or less because of a few summoners.

Mythicfox that seems interesting for battle box games (though Seamus might be at too much a disadvantage), but at what point do you open summoning? How would you handle 35-49pt games?

  7. So I've seen a lot of people claim on these forums that Malifaux isn't balanced for lower SS games (around 30-35pts), especially for summoner. In my area the most common played game size is 50pts followed by 30pt games. We're looking at starting slow grow leagues and trying to introduce the game to more players so kind of concerned on the balance issues for the smaller game sizes.

I know I've played Som'er at 30pts and while my opponent was concerned how fast/easily I was able to bring in Gremlins, after the initial shock she didn't seem to mad at it. So just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this?

  8. Hey.

So the Guild upgrade Lead Lined Coat mentions if the unit doesn't have armour it gains the ability.

I'm wondering though if I can use the upgrade on a model that already has armour to get armour +2 on a model (since the upgrade gives +1 I assume it would stack).

Mainly wondering cause in the crew creator Ryle can't take the upgrade and someone mention because he already has armour, but other models like captain Dashel can take it and they to have armour +1.

  9. Deployment: Corner

Strategy: Turf War (fighting over the food stand)

Schemes: Line in the Sand, Protect Territory, Assassinate, Murder Protégé, Power Ritual.

    Points: 30Pts

Som’er Teeth Jones crew (Line in the Sand [declared], Protect Territory [hidden])

Somer Teeth Jones -- 4 Pool

     +Dirty Cheater [1]

     +Family Tree [2]

     +Stilts [1]

Old Cranky [4] (played by Wong)

Bayou Gremlin [3]  (played by Squats)

Bayou Gremlin [3] (played by Squats)

    Hog Whisperer [5]

Sammy LaCroix [7]  (played by Gremlinette)

     +Encouragement [2]

     +Quality Mash Liquor [2]

Lady Justice crew (Assassinate, Murder Protégé [declared])

    Lady Justice -- 4 Pool

     +Badge of Office [2]

     +Justice Unleashed [1]

Brutal Effigy [4] (played by a Wicthing Stalker)

    Death Marshal [6]

    Death Marshal [6]

The Judge [9]  (played by Samuel Hopkins)

     +Lead Lined Coat [2]

    Deployment Gremlins:

I deployed my Gremlins clustered and as far forward as possible. Plan was to summon more models first turn and send some Gremlins to each corner for Line in the Sand while being able to shoot anyone that went towards the center

    Deployment Justice

She deployed her crew pretty much in the center.

    Turn 1:

“OIY” Som’er boomed, if it ain’t that Lady Jufice. You, you and yah git yar brohs, we need more brohs to shaw Lady Jufice we mean bizness. Who kips throwin em rocks at me head!?!

I had a low mask for Som’er to discard in the hopes of getting some more Gremlins. Even with Sammy encouraging Som’er though to get his gremlins to join the fight I only managed to cast the spell 2/3 times. The Egg Hauler acted recklessly to heal up my Gremlins and the Bayou Gremlins started to advance.

    Turn 2

“Okay boys, hare be tha plan. You go and piss on em Guild and ve wll shoot in yar direction”.

One of my Gremlins made use of his drunken reckless ability to run straight up the field and lay down my first scheme marker. Not being impressed one of the death marshalls took 2 shots at him killing my poor gremlin. With some encouragement another one of my gremlins avenged their fellow kin by 1 shooting the brutal effigy.

Sneaking away from my main force my other Gremlin takes to the south east corner to lay down more scheme markers.

    Score: 1 - 1

    Turn 3

    Gremlins win initiative

    “SSSSSSSSQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”

I start this round by taking a few shots at the judge (with his armour my Gremlins were actually hurting themselves more than the Judge). He apparently didn’t appreciate that though as he called over Lady Justice and headed into cover.

Lady Justice charged Som’er who burned a soulstone to help his defense and squeal away. Even with the soulstone he took 6 damage from 1 attack with a double critical stike :S.

With Lady Justice exposed next came a spectator round of let’s not hit Lady Justice. I took 4 shots with her and only 1 of them hit for negative modifier. I flipped a red joker :D and a black joker :@.

While I wanted to heal Som’er with the Egg hauler and Sammy, with Lady Justice in the way I couldn’t get around her so Sammy started going the long way around the terrain.

A death marshal attempts to shoot my egg hauler, but accidentally hits Lady Justice.

    Score: 2 - 2

    Turn 4

“Na nan a nan a, Lady Jufice can’t hit tha brood side of a barn”

Seeing her query trying to escape Lady Justice tried to follow Som’er and Sammy. Unfortunately for her the Egg Hauler and Old Cranky kept her tied up.

Death Marshals killed the rest of my Bayou Gremlins as I kept trying to sneak them in close enough to the stall to score points. Finally Sammy steps up to the plate and manages to stay alive.

The same Death Marshall from last round once again tries to shoot my Egg Hauler and once again hits Lady Justice.

    Score 3 -3

    Turn 5

We did it lads!! Lads? Where did everyone go?

So not wanting to make the same mistake Lady Justice kills my Egg Hauler and attempts to kill the wise old cranky. He managed to somehow survive with 1 wound remaining. Sammy taunts the death marshals and drinks some fine liquor to heal up and Som’er avenges himself by blowing up the Judge.

    Score: 9 – 4 (Gremlins)

  10. Looking at this for Recon:

    Sonnia -- 4 Pool
     +Cherufe's Imprint [1]
     +Counterspell Aura [1]
     +Reincarnation [1]

    Malifaux Child [3]
    Guardian [8]
    Ryle [10]
    Witchling Handler [8]
     +Lead Lined Coat [2]
    Witchling Stalker [5]
    Witchling Stalker [5]
    Witchling Stalker [5]

Basic idea is Sonnia, Malichild and Guardian go up the middle of the board to support either corner (and help to make more wicthlings). If anyone tries to take down Sonnia use Flame Walls and the Guardian to convince them to go somewhere else.

The handler and Ryle take up 1 side and the Witchlings the other side. Goal would be to kill your opponents models with fire to bring out more witchlings.
  11. While the sow is 2 points cheaper than Gracie with a saddle, just looking at the 2 models wouldn't gracie with a saddle just offer a fair amount more than the sow?

  12. If those are interactions you would like then I might suggest picking up the older edition's books (you can probably pick them up very cheap on clearance these days) which have those types of rules.

I dig out my first edition rulebook (don't have 1.5  so might have changed) and found this under movement.

    (2) Jump - The model moves up to 1/2 its walk distance across a gap or moves up to 1/2 of its walk distance from a higher elevation to a lower one without suffering damage.

I would probably houserule that you can make a jump if the space is less than 1/2 your walk distance. Treat the space as +1" longer though for charging distance (so if your WK is 4 you can jump less than  2" gap, but doing so takes 3" of movement).
