  1. Nice hint. Thanks. Apparently I'll get many more options with Rising Powers. Can't wait to have a look at the book
  2. Sonnia : definitely she doesn't look as powerfull as she is Rasputina : agree on this one there's a big potential out here (but please keep it cool for the average assembler) Neverborn : Zoraida is cool but there might be ways to make her more attractive for the "average" player... (just a little bit more agressive would do... though I would not like this move). Lilith could be re-done but she's already a good starting point for beginners I guess Outcast : definitely Leveticus (though he's probably excellent once mastered) but don't forget Som'Er - goblins definitily need some more play appeal...
  3. The main issue was to get accustomed to the first rulebook organisation and the things that were not obvious at first sight. I see that rules questions are quite quickly answered by Wyrd's team or Henchmen wich is a very good point. Aven't read yet the FAQ and V2 rules though. People took a while to jump in through the breach so I guess clarifications and fluff and nice minis were all at the origin of this Malifaux Spring out there  Keep on with this great job and support the FLGS that make the effort to promote this game (it's very tough sometimes for them to promote "non mainstream" games) :thumb:
  4. The trouble is that Hamelin is also a good part of my "disillusion" team (dance, lure, pestilence, growing command) and the best model (after Zoraida) to successfully cast Obey (Ca6 vs Ca 4 for Doppleganger or Vodoo Doll). On the other hand the doppleganger has maybe more chance to survive thanks to Harmless... I'm not sure I should take Silurids because they need to be numerous (3 are a minimum I think) or have a convenient terrain setting due to Instable Evolution. I don't know the other models you mentionned though because I'm actually waiting for my ordered Rising Power book to arrive at my FLGS (they were sold out). I'll take a closer look at them when I have RP ;0)
  5. + (as usual) check : http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Lady+Justice
  6. Right! Not sure I'll use my 4 obeys per turn. I think the flexiblity and menace of the doppleganger can be an asset too even when not using mimic spell = obey I'd like to be sure I have something to delay my opponent and slow down his frontline wile picking my targets with obey. Should I replace the Sorrows by something else?
  7. I think of it more as a special kind of encounter similar to "sabotage" but with appropriate duels to resolve the puppet throwing or kicking and catching. No custom game board needed (it's played in the countryside). Examble of actions with the "puppet doll" : Hand the puppet to an adjacent player (0) Throw the puppet (1) Kick the puppet (2) Pick up the puppet on the floor (1) Now the difficulty is to determine which characteristic(s) must be used for throwing and catching (maybe Cb for throw or kick and Wp for catching) and of course : how to determine a TN? Maybe a distance mesured in card length would give appropriate TN : 2 within cards TN = 12 ; 4 cards TN = 14 ; 6 cards : 20 I suggest dropping something (a card?) from 2 feets above the table for scatters when the puppet is not catched. Ex : flip and drop a card as close as possible of the target figure. The opponent designates a corner of the card, the puppet scatters of the value of the card in inches... Black Joker : make an other scatter flip and drop Red Joker : choose the the corner of the card and push the target figure near the puppet
  8. I can imagine playing with dolls, pupets or... baby Cade : "kick the baby"!
  9. I wonder if it would be fun to have some sort of encounter or mini game with the Malifaux setting and rule system allowing to play a game inspired by the french medieval "rugby" game called "La Soule". The game had no proper terrain : teams had the possibility to move through the entire countryside. No holds bared. They had to pick a ball or a piece of rag (why not a "puppet" or doll?) and bring it to a place located in the opponent team zone (lake, tree, pond, swamp island...) The other option would be to use a soulstone as a ball with the possibility to use it (that would destroy it and summon it back at the center of the table for example)... Any ideas to design such an encounter or mini-game?

  11. Would be glad with a Sonia Criid complete tactica too :poutcha:
  12. Have a look at : http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Lilith nice tacticas though it has to be updated with some of the most recent releases. Sounds like Zoraida or the Dreamer would be nice additions in brawls. I'm a beginner too but, considering my favorite playstyles, I like to have a mix of brute force and subtelty. I think that pairs like Lilith + Zoraida or Dreamer + Zoraida might have nice potentials because one attracts the attention of the ennemy with its massive menace and the other one manipulates, weakens targets and cripples ennemy's efforts to achieve his goals. Will see if my first impressions are right when I'll field Zoraida and Dreamer for my first brawls... By the end of the year... ))
  13. I was considering a replacement. And needed something else to draw attention. Thanks for the advice! So that would be : - Zoraida (+ Voodoo Doll) - Hamelin : 10SS - Doppleganger : 8SS - 2 Sorrows : 6SS - Mature Nephilim : 10 SS SS Cache : 6SS
  14. Sorry! You're right! Regular Hamelin!
  15. I did not trade Criid away I traded some of my metal Rackham Mid Nors for Rasputina's starter primed and assembled along with a December acolyte. All the other minis and Rising Powers were bought either at my FLGS (for 100 bucks) or online (a bit more minis for the same price but I wanted to support my FLGS too which I think is essential). The reason why I bought Criid is that because the starter seems pretty easy to assemble and very few gamer's do play Criid at my FLGS. Though I don't know why because she seems fairly competitive. I wanted to have sorceresses and a sorceress huntress. My shopping was very thematic Being fond of Terry Pratchett Discworld Novels I could not pass on sorceresses
  16. I wonder if, as an alternative list against non construct or undead teams, this list would be fun to play : - Zoraida (+ Voodoo Doll) - Hamelin : 10SS - Doppleganger : 8SS - 2 Sorrows : 6SS - Bad Juju : 10 SS SS Cache : 6SS The idea is to have a strong interdiction and manipulation team with lots of possibilities to cast Obey spells. Zoraida has obey Hamelin has obbey the Doppleganger is a flexible model and can also mimic the obey spell If my understanding is correct the Vodoo doll can also cast Obey as part of its own activation because even if its a companion it can activate during the same activation but separatly. Because most of Zoraida spells are based on wp duels if think the 2 Sorrows have a chance to be a nuisance somehow. This may be absolutely inefficient - I'm new to the game and may have forgotten several things ^^ It seemed to be a potentially interesting composition for certain scenarios and schemes and against living models. By the way : are Woes and Nephilim "living models"? I did not read the v2 book but in the original book it sounds like they are "living" models...
  17. Hi! I'm a 35 year old kid living in Montreal fond of miniature games (I'm a rule collector). So forgive me if my english isn't always perfect it's not my native langage. I'm mainly interested in independant, non mainstream skirmish games (i-e most games excepted PP and GW main ranges) : Malifaux (of course), MERCS, Song of Blade and Heroes (and other settings from Ganesha Games), Alkemy, Helldorado to name a fiew. Actually my focus is mainly on Malifaux and Mercs (I play USCR and FCC). ... Yes... I try to focus... I'm also interested in playing "deceased" games : mainly Rackham ones (Confrontation, french "AdeS" spin off community rules) and R-e games (CaoR ; AT-43). I'm new to Malifaux. Bought the rules one year ago and read them (as a rule collector I was curious to discover the system and fluff) I did not find time and money to invest in this new game and had forgetten them until recently... Sounds like the game is really taking off here in Montreal at my FLGS (Gamer's Vault) with at least 10 players ; moreover the Rising Powers Expansion looked very promising! So I decided it may be a good time to give it a try. I read the rulebook again recently, visited "Pull my Finger" website for tacticas and was definitely motivated to jump in through the breach. Because I'm kind of passionate and impulsive sometimes :flame: I bought and ordered from my FLGS a Sonia Criid starter along with an Austringer, Executionner and Purifying Flame Plus : Rising Powers... Then I traded a few minis with a friend to get a Rasputina starter with December Acolyte, Silent One and Essence of Power (some of those will be assembled and primed). Because I had to save a little bit of money I ordered online a Zoraida Starter, a voodoo doll and a Dreamer Starter along with Daydreams and Alps... Those two masters will be used in brawls when I'll master the game a little bit more... That's my way to help everybody doing business : a small but significative part (25 to 40%) of my shopping is always reserved to my favorite FLGS (they really deserve it). I have a blog (see profile) but actually it is only in french sorry :aetsch:... And their should news of my defeats in the world of Malifaux within the next months... Well I think it's time to stop my gossip... For now...
