  1. I've started work on a rather ambitious 3'x3' board. It's intended for use with Hell Dorado but I've scaled it to 3'x3' so it can also work as a Malifaux board.

The basic idea is to create a rocky mountainous looking area with a dual waterfall. I'm going to keep track of my progress here.

I started with some randomly broken chunks of 3" insulation foam. After finding a configuration that worked I glued them in place.

The next step was to carve the foam with a dremel and glue sand and textured wallpaper in place.

Once that was dry I applied a layer of paint with primer built in. After it dried it made it easier to see spots that need more texture or some spackle to fill odd gaps.

Coming soon! A lake of skulls, and prepping for water effects.

  2. The nurse is really a model you will never need. The flesh construct is useful, since McM can summon them for free and they are much better then dogs. The Chihuahua is pretty needed with McM in my personal opinion. Sebastian is not needed but is a nice heavy hitter. although I tend to not have a lot of luck with him.

Actually pairing the McMorning and Kirai box gives some interesting interactions, you really only ever want one nurse but having two stops your opponent from being able to nulify their buffs.

  3. What did you use to cast them ? Casting is something that has eluded me.

This is a helpful link once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy.

I use the smooth on white plastic, 1 to 1 ratio no scale needed. For bases it's a simple pour mold.

The next set I do I'll create a tutorial.

  4. When building Interior Locations I like to set the building as a 2'x2' square that can be placed on the 3'x3' board. You get a bit more use out of it that way as moving it around the board dramatically changes how it plays.

It you build a building that covers the entire space it limits the flexibility of the piece.

    Here's a few that I've worked on:

    Qi and Gong

    Res. Laboratory

    Sewers

  5. that is amazing! really really awesome i love it. if i was going to say anything negative about it, and its a very clutching at straws point but you can still see the imperial aquilla on the doors but if you intended to have them on then i retract this statement and sit in the corner :D

Yeah dual purpose terrain piece so the doors were intentional.

  6. Just a question/clarification on the "Love is in the Air" special rule... I'm planning to bring some gremlins. Can I assume that pigs/undead pigs/mosquitos would also fall into the category of constructs in that they wouldn't count either way? I suppose that this question could be further extended to any beast/vermin models.

For humanoid models assume if it has breasts it's female. For non-humanoid beasts and such consider them gender neutral (unless you've converted them to be anatomically correct, then tell/show your opponent prior to the game beginning)

  7. fair enough josh.

for painted do you have to have painted them yourself or not?

if I forfeit my chance in the lotto can we have it be 40 stones? :D

Doesn't matter to me who paints them, just tired of seeing bare metal and primed models on the tables. (I know of a few paiting services that could help you out if you need)

I don't think the time allows for 40 stones. Also we still have people that only have a starter and a few extra models.

And I can only imagine what broken nonsense you have figured out for 40 stones, so we'll keep it at 35. (besides I already printed the flyers)

  8. I understand and appreciate your time and views. It's just that anytime a players standing(chance at winning a prize) is dictated by someone elses opinion, it makes me nervous. It just seems to open a bag of ugliness...

You beat the tar out of me so I'm gonna give you low scores for sportsmanship and paint so I feel better.

I don't really see this being an issue for anyone but NerdElemental( he's such a whiney baby!) in our local group, but you never know.

Understandable, but I'll also be checking the score cards and the paint score is pretty cut and dry except for the difference between 5 and 4 points. You can't really give somebody that has everything based and painted lower than a 3 or 4.

Sportsmanship is just there to encourage being nice, hence the number. If you dink somebody on it you have to give an explanation. It's also added because I'm expecting to draw people from outside the normal crowd and getting points for playing nice is good to keep a happy atmosphere.

Really this is just a test to see how I want to score events I run. I really liked Dave's lotto system before and am trying to improve upon it. I want these events to be about more than just stomping your opponents face. There's lots of other systems that handle face-stomping well enough that this game doesn't need to use that type of reward system.
