  1. Another good way to generate Body parts with McM is casting Wracked with Pain. People overlook it, but you can gain a Body Part and cause 2 wds from 12" away! Combined with the Zombie Chihuahua, I usually have 5 body parts on Turn 1 [i start with 2-3 SS turned into Body Parts], and Fetch a couple of times, and hit a Necropunk with Wracked to grab the 5th. After that, I usually don't have problems popping Body Parts from other sources [Corpses, etc].

  9. On topic: I really like the changes to Mk2 Hordes. I was unhappy during a lot of the FT, and played the games and recorded the changes appropriately, but burnt out on the forums and didn't even bother reading them. So now the Skorne are in a nice sweet spot for me, and I'm going to enjoy putting my Titan Herd back on the table On the comparison between the games: I see WM/H and Malifaux like two really pretty sisters, with Malifaux being the younger, cuter one. Wm/H and I have had the long, stable relationship. However, a lot of the initial charm has gone away and become the silent love that is everpresent but isn't necessarily expressed. She's the wife I come home to every night after work [or every week after stressful work/home life]. Malifaux, on the other hand, is the hot young sister who just turned 18, and does all that kinky stuff that Wm/H used to when we first started dating. Now that we're steady, all that kinky stuff is out the window with Wm/H, but Malifaux has caught my eye and isn't letting go. I play them both on a weekly basis at the game store. My only issue is that I have twice as many things to carry and clean up afterwards.

  11. McM and Seamus trip over themselves a little, because Seamus makes ALL living models -2 wp, this includes McM at his lowly 5 to start [3 with Trail of Fear]. Furthermore, McM wants to mix it up while Seamus can play the ranged game a lot better. I prefer Nico backing up both of the other masters, as they can summon well, and he can buff their troops rather nicely. Also, he can paralyze targets if need be

  13. Nice battle report, wish the NBR had been a little longer though
  14. I personally really enjoy using the Necropunks. While they are great at scenarios, what I really like is their terrain mitigation and their ability to climb without having to take actions to do so. Furthermore, leaping into combat and then Flurrying is a nice way to set up a good number of attacks. Or, vice-versa, flurrying and then leaping OUT of combat to engage a ranged support model is also rather nice. I like to run 2, but I have 3 on occasion, and I enjoy the Hard To Kill Shenanigans they provide me with
  15. Nice story! Short and sweet, with lots of action!
  16. I'm a big fan of the Grave Spirit with Seamus. I can usually cast Face of Death of Live for Pain if I have a high card, and the damage/Terror is a good effect. It usually links to Sybelle, who has Hard to Wound 1, Regen 1, and Armor 2. She takes a pounding, and returns the favor pretty well, too!
  17. Here's the data from the game, in the form that I took notes in. 30 ss @ Bayou’s edge Claim jump for both Res: Army of dead and secret breakthrough Arc: Hold out and secret sabotage Res: McM, 2 punks, 2 necropunks, seabass, fleshie Arc: Tina, 2 gamin, golem, acolyte, pride Turn 1: Res go first Punk double moves behind cover. Ice golem/pz2 double move towards December acolyte Gamin moves NP fails to leap, moves, same with other. Gamin 2 also does the same. HP double moves. Fleshie double moves towards acolyte Tina double moves. Seabass gathers Body Parts successfully. Acolyte shoots a harpoon at PZ2, and nicks him once, slowing him down. Discard a card. Goes Defensive. McM advances twice. Scalpel slings, evaded thanks to light cover. Ceaseless advances into melee with acolyte. Turn 2: Arcs go first Acolyte goes Defensive and stabs the Fleshie, manages to Rip his Throat! However, the Black joker makes it only 2 dmg. Fleshie becomes Fast, and swings. Misses the first attack. Connects the second attack weakly for 2 dmg. Third swing connects for 4 more dmg. Golem double moves. McM charges the Aco, takes a Piece for himself. Kills the Aco, turns them into the Body Parts. Casts Monstrous Creation, and summons a Flesh Golem into existence into the middle of the table. Ice Gamin double walks. NP fails leap, double moves towards Ice Gamin on left. Kitty Pride advances. Seabass advances. Tina rolls up, fails Biting Chill due to the channel being short. Casting Experts December’s Touch on Kitties. Moves again. NP fails to leap, double moves. End of turn 2, only acolyte is down. Turn 3: Res win, even after soulstone from Arcs. Fleshie misses the Ice Golem. Ice Gamin pokes the new Fleshie for 2 dmg. Then Statues. Then uses Bite of Winter. Seabass gives his 3 parts to Mcm with For You Master. Gamin 2 charges Fleshie2 but misses. PZ tries to roll around to flank. Golem advances, misses Icy Blast against PZ due to light cover. NP leaps, and then charges and Ice Gamin, but misses. HCP advances, and bite the fleshie for 3. Again for 3. Leaving him at 2. Mcm double moves, and uses Master Surgeon to heal fleshie for 2, and then uses a Body Part to duck behind some hard cover. Tina goes for a Biting Chill against the Fleshie, and messes him up, dropping him to 1. December’s into combat, and targets the statue, but misses. Again to the NP, connects this time. Hits him with a weak for 3. Tries it again, connects with the Golem for a Moderate, and takes out the Fleshie and the NP, leaving bodies for McM to scoop later. Last PZ finds some cover in the middle. Ceaseless advance to engage the Ice Golem. Turn 4: Arcs win ini. Ice Golem attacks Fleshie, connects with a Light for 3. Does it again for 3. McM goes next. Advances twice, grabs the Fleshies and NP Bodies. Casts Monstrous Creation, pops a Fleshie into melee with Tina, the kitties and the 2 Gamin. Discards one to go fast, attacks the Hoarcat Pride and flips a Red Joker on the damage to sheesh kabob it in one attack. Ice Gamin 1 Bites, and attacks McM, lands 3 dmg on him. Attacks again and misses. PZ attacks Ice Gamin 2, and deals 3 to the Ice Gamin. Gamin2 attacks McM, puts 3 on him thanks to Bite of Winter. Attacks again, 3 more points, dropping McM to 3 hps. New Fleshie swings at Tina and misses. Tina uses Biting Chill repeatedly to drop the Fleshie to 1 hp. Ice Bad. Then she advances up, and stabs the Fleshie, killing him. Tries to December’s Curse into combat, ends up failing against a Gamin. Seabass advances twice and uses Melee Expert to kill a Gamin, shatters and bleeds the PZ, Seabass and MCM, who prevents it. Fleshie misses the Ice Golem. PZ2 advances on the Ice Golem. NP leaps, and charges Tina for 1 dmg. Ceaseless advance against the Ice Golem, deals 1 dmg. Turn 5: Ressers win, even after reflip from Arcs. McM casts Dissection against the Ice Gamin, triggers Scalpel Magic. Heals for 1. A Piece for Me from the Gamin, and then finishes him off and heals himself back to Heals himself for 3, takes 2 from Shatter. Back to 5 hps. Second action, he uses Scalpel Slinging to propel himself into melee with her, and pokes her for 2 damage. Discards a Body Part, goes fast. Casts Dissection, success, with a +1 flip, but Black Joker means that there’s no damage done [McM was holding a Red Joker]. All that are left are Tina and the Ice Golem vs McM, Seabass, 2 PZs and a Fleshie. Ice Golem takes a pounding, dishes out poundings back. Kills the PZ, the other PZ is sitting on the Claim Jump, keeping guard. Tina uses Biting Chill to drop McM all the way to one, who uses Soul Stones to keep himself from getting stabbed to death by her. The Golem is trapped by the models, and cannot leave combat to go kill McM. Turn 6: Res win, as both sides are out of SS. McM Dissects Tina with a 20 to 14. Severe damage finishes her off, and ends McMs activation. The Ice Golem finally goes down, thanks to Seabass and the Flesh Golem, and the Ressers win! Final Score: 8-0
  18. “Sebastian, are you done yet? Speed up!” barked Dr. Douglas McMourning as he paced outside his hidden laboratory in the sewers, waiting for his clumsy assistant. ‘Why do I even put up with him?’ though McMourning as he stormed back into the lab. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” screamed the irate doctor. The mousy, hunched assistant yelped and shrank away from the bag of soulstones sitting on the table, dropping the several body parts he was carrying. “Master, I was just readying the supplies and I was getting the electricity and the-“ stuttered Sebastian before the doctor interrupted his whining. “Enough blathering! Stop being so clumsy, grab those parts, and let’s go! We need to get there before that ice-strumpet does! I’m leaving now!” said McMourning as he snatched the bag of soulstones and a few hands before leaving the laboratory. Waiting for him outside were his new Flesh Golem, along with 2 Punk Zombies, and 2 Necropunks. Sebastian stumbled out behind him, fumbling with his bone saw and some body parts. The Resurrectionists crew moved as fast as they could through the sewers, deftly avoiding any known areas that would have Guild agents searching for them, and exited near the Bayou. McMourning stepped out first, taking a deep breath to try and expunge the fetid smell of the sewers. Of course, the bayou didn’t smell any better, leaving him coughing and sputtering as he gagged reflexively. He hunched over, trying to stop coughing when he noticed the thin layer of rime on the swamp. “Curses! That strumpet is around! Look sharp!” he ordered as he scanned the bayou for any sign of the ruins he was supposed to reach. The spirit had been insistent that he get there and use the magical potency of the creepy structure to increase his magical repertoire. He then received word that Rasputina, the ice-strumpet, was attempting to claim that location for herself. What her goals were, he probably could never guess. She was probably attempting to raise her boyfriend, that December chap or whatever his blasted name was. Seamus had spoken of her dismay over his passing. It had made her bold and she had attempted several raids to try and claim any item or location of magical import. “Master, hee hee, there she is, master!” whined Sebastian. The doctor and his minions looked towards where Sebastian had pointed, and spotted a towering Ice Golem, accompanied by two Ice Gamin, and a Hoarcat Pride. Behind them walked Rasputina, her hands moving sinuously as she chanted some arcane ritual. They had probably noticed the undead crew, and now were moving to engage. The structure that they were looking to capture was sitting right between both the crews, and an ominous aura surrounded its tough pillars. “That Ice strumpet obviously underestimated us! We outnumber her. She grows more reckless every day…” said McMourning as he trailed off into thought. ‘I wonder what makes her tick. I’d love to find out.’ He grinned as he pulled out his favorite scalpel, rubbing it against the palm of his hand. “CHARGE!” screamed Dr. Douglas McMourning, and the Resurrectionist crew surged forward to capture the grounds and destroy any that stood in or near their way. His scream startled Sebastian, who once again dropped the parts he was carrying into the murky swamp water. He stooped over to grab them, and found some other body parts during his search. He looked around to see if Master was watching, and then sneakily added those parts to his cache. The Arcanists seemed to be far off, but started to close the gap. Suddenly, one of the Punk Zombies moaned in pain as a harpoon flew out of the nearby woods and impaled him. A December Acolyte revealed his presence. “That sneaky curmudgeon! She was trying to flank us!” said McMourning as he turned towards this new threat. He flicked one of his newer scalpels at the cannibal and narrowly missed him as the scalpel buried itself into a tree near the acolyte of the fallen god. “Blast it!” exclaimed McMourning in frustration. He directed the Flesh Construct towards this interloper, and it ambled forward to engage its prey. The Necropunks made pathetic attempts to leap, but the ice around the swamps kept their metallic spider legs from moving at full efficacy. McMourning winced as he thought of what that ice could do his Flesh Construct. It seemed to be moving a little slower already. The Acolyte lunged at the Flesh Construct’s throat with his claws, only to hit a metal plate in the monster’s throat. Realizing his predicament, he stood in a defensive guard position, and waited for the inevitable counter attack from the undead monster. Which it did! Apparently it was angered, and bashed at the acolyte with all his might repeatedly. Even with his guard up, the Acolyte nearly succumbed to his blows, and dropped to his knees, his hands up as he attempted to parry the flesh construct. This left him distracted enough for McMourning to slip his scalpel into acolyte’s neck, severing his jugular and letting him bleed into the icy swamp. Working quickly, McMourning took some necessary parts and focused his magic for a second to breathe unlife into this corpse, raising the Acolyte as a Flesh Construct himself! The rest of the Arcanist crew advanced, attempting to get to the ruins and start their offensive. Rasputina enchanted the Hoarcats with the toughness of ice, and they leaped forward, looking for some prey. The Gamins walked up to give the Pride some support, and saw something shamble into view. It was their acolyte! Only, he was limping, part of his jaw was missing, and there was an unnerving moan emanating from his throat. He was now undead! The acolyte construct advanced to fight its former allies, stopping when it reached the two small ice constructs. Sebastian finally catches up with McMourning. “Master?” “WHAT? I’m busy!” snarled McMourning, irate due to his lack of supplies to create another construct. “F-f-f-for you…” whimpered Sebastian as he held out several body parts to his master. McMourning finally stopped frowning and pulled his face into a maniacal grin. “I knew I had you around for a reason! Come here and give me that spleen.” While this, err, tender exchange was going on, both crews got into the battle in earnest, fighting around the ruins which both masters were attempting to capture for their various nefarious needs. The acolyte construct faced off against both Ice Gamin and the Hoarcat Pride before a Necropunk jumped into the fray, flailing around with its prehensile metallic appendages. Seeing her constructs and cats in trouble, Rasputina summoned a cold snap around her, and directed its violent flow towards her former ally. The acolyte flesh construct tried to resist the cold, swinging wildly at the air as if to beat it into submission. However, he stumbled, and finally exploded into bits of flesh as she unleashed December’s most virulent curses at it. The ensuing carnage destroyed the Necropunk as well, leaving bits of bodies scattered over the rubble in the swamps. Rasputina wiped her hands and cackled evilly as she set her sights on the vicious Douglas McMourning. Before she could blast him with a spell, the doctor scooped up the remains of the acolyte and the necropunk, and animated them yet again with a spell! This time, the acolyte construct shambled into being right in front of Rasputina. Summoning her lethal chill once again, she impaled the Flesh Construct with tendrils of rime before clawing it to death by slashing its jugular. As the necromantic construct fell to the ground again, Douglas set upon the Hoarcat Pride who was advancing on him, dispatching the leader of the pride by chopping him in half. The rest of the pride scattered before the mad cackling of the evil Resurrectionist before he could exact gruesome carnage upon them. To protect their mistress from the mad scientist, the Ice Gamins waded into combat with Dr. McMourning and pelted him with their icy claws. Even with the assistance from one of his deadly Punk Zombies, McMourning could not completely ward off all the attacks from the little ice constructs, and nearly succumbed to their blows. He hunched over, attempting to regain his breath. Thankfully, his ducking caused Rasputina’s repeated attempts to curse him miss horribly! ‘What luck!’ thought Sebastian as he neared the Ice Golem. He put some of his lessons in surgery to good use as he healed his master, stemming the flow of the blood from some of his numerous small wounds. After ensuring the health of his master, he eviscerated one of the ice gamin. The creature exploded, sending slivers of ice flying in all directions. Both master and servant shrugged off the puny shrapnel, and grinned as they looked upon the few remaining Arcanists. The other Ice Gamin made a pitiful attempt to stop the evil doctor, but shattered under his blade. Douglas slung his scalpel at Rasputina and followed in after his blade. It caught her in the shoulder, catching her off guard as Dr. McMourning whipped out a blade to slice her in two down the seam of her coat. Unfortunately, his blade caught in her belt, and stopped his attempt at killing her. ‘Curses! That ice-strumpet and her accessories!’ thought Douglas as he attempted to retrieve his knife. A blow from her fists pushed him back, giving her the room to punish him with some icy blasts, but she could not stop him. As he fought back through her magic, he managed to stick a knife into her neck. She gasped and tried to stem the blood pouring from her gaping wound, and slinked off into the swamp while the remaining Flesh Construct and Sebastian made quick work of her now weakened Ice Golem. “Don’t come back, you damn strumpet!” yelled McMourning as he let her retreat. Now that he had the ruin, the Grave Spirit was sure to come with another message. He gathered his forces and entered the ruins, ready to plumb its depths to corrupt it for his own use.
  19. I second the Hanged suggestion. Stupid and awesome when combined with Seamus' shenanigans.
  20. Great report! It's always fun to see McMourning do his thing...
