  1. Some models could quite easily be painted as mimes. Rasputina for example, she's already doing the invisible wall (at least with small modifications). Leveticus could also look quite fine with a mime face and a beret. The Ice Gamin would also look great with a beret, trousers and braces. Actually... I happen to have an unpainter Cult of December box on my table... Maybe... just maybe I should...

You should use the clear walls of a roleplaying dice box to make a wall around 'Tina. If you do this.

  2. I'm going to redo my bases by cutting the top off and gluing plasicard to the bottom. You could just have them ankle deep in mud and slime and no on would know that they're wearing shoes.

Otherwise, I like the Al Bundy idea. With one gremlin modified with a NO MA'AM banner.

  3. On a more serious note, I wonder if this affected Weird Sketches sig.

edit- Yes. ***** no longer appears in Mr. Sketches sig. Does the word ***** not exist because Sketch doesn't exist? Is that the kind of thinking that makes people quit and join the circus? Do people then become ****** BECAUSE ****** don't exist?

  4. A lot of the perceived disparity between masters and crews can be reduced (although perhaps not eliminated) by changing what models you take to support the master.

The ability to build your list after setting up the board and deciding on your strategy makes balance more a question of what you need to accomplish than who you need to accomplish it against.

For example, I play both Rasputina and So'Mer Teeth. Unless I'm playing in a tournament or league where I have to stick to one list or one faction, I'll generally avoid playing Rasputina for Reconnoiter and leave Mr. Jones at home when Assassination is the rule of the day. I find that balanced crews led by either model work equally well for the other missions, however.

This ability to decide who to use after knowing the task lends balance to the game as a whole, but might make it seem that since Rasputina is better at Assassination, she is unbalanced. However, her weakness at other strategies rounds her back out to what I feel is the normal power level.

  5. I usually 2 or 3 Gamin PLUS the Golem. Having them split off to the sides, but still close enough for Icy Mirror, negates a lot of Rasputina's slowness.

My typical 30 SS list is:

    Tina

Essence of Power (Wendigo if I'm using Cerberus)

    Golem

    2 x Gamin

Cerberus or Acolyte or Convict Gunslinger (depending on strategy)

This leaves me with 7 or 8 stones to abuse by overpowering December's Curses through the Gamin and Golem.

  6. I also play Tina.

ispep, I play Gremlins in the same league as you, and have won half my games with them.

During the early game, I ONLY use my 11+ for Git your Bro, and usually have no problem casting it 4-5 times by the end of turn three. I cast it for my first activation, use Take A Swig to heal the Gremlin that I'm casting off of, and then cast it again with Reckless if I have the card in hand for the cheat. If I can't cheat it the second time, I use Reckless to use Take a Swig to heal So'Mer. Barring a Black Joker, the worst I can do on that is to break even on wounds.

I did cast Parasitic Infection once. It was yesterday. I had run Sonnia out of soulstones, and had the 13 crow in my hand. My opponent would have needed the Red Joker to resist, so I went for it and turned her into a bug. It was nice.

  7. Are you looking for a rules reason, or a flavor reason?

It could be that he cares more about his creations than he does himself. It could be to "encourage" you to run constructs with him, and not just use it as a caster buff.

It could be to prevent imbalances in gameplay.

I never thought about it with Ramos, but Nicodem's Bolster Undead does the same thing, helps his buddies but not himself.

  8. EDIT: Just had a thought. How about a compromise -

Red Joker would work on -flips, but wouldent flip an extra card on damage, it would just work as a severe damage. That's managable, and doesn't trivialize defensive abilitys nearly as much as it does in it's current state.

I think it would be needlessly complex to have two different rules for damage on the Red Joker. To be honest, I don't see any difference between dealing more damage when you shouldn't, and healing all the damage you've taken so far this game on a damage PREVENTION flip. The Red Joker is a powerful force. Let it be a powerful force.

  9. The problem with not having a fifth page, is that unless you jump from 3 to 6, you'll end up with even numbers facing even numbers. The sudden shift to the even numbers being on the left page would weird me out. Trying to navigate that pagination would be a nightmare. The pages in your book would go 1:2, 3:4, 6:7, 8:9. It would be chaos.
