  1. Apologies if this is a daft question or has been answered elsewhere (did do a search but got nothing back).

Seamus and McMournings avatars have the wicked talent. I can't find the talent defined in the rules manual, and don't have my books 1 &2 handy. There is no description of the talent in either avatars listing.

Lilith's avatar has the wicked talent and some text to effect that it means that if she wins a disengaging strike duel she causes damage as well as preventing the other model disengaging.

I just want to double check that I am right in thinking that Mcm and Seamus's wicked talent gives them the same effect? Or is it just there to stop them teaming with Sue?

  2. Do non-malifaux ones count?

My wife and I used to regularly go for lunch at a nice little pub. we got quite friendly with the staff (which was just as well).

Anyway, one day its quite busy and we are sitting there talking. She picks up the ketchup and shakes it vigourously.

She only stopped when she saw the horrified expression on my face and the bar staff collapse in laughter.

No, the top was on the bottle of ketchup! Unfortunately there was no top on her glass of vodka and coke, which she had just tossed over her shoulder and over a group of people at the table behind.

We don't live near the pub anymore which is possibly just as well.

  3. For me, the most important thing is you have got to like the miniature you are painting.

This may sound odd, but I find it is true. I painted Sonnia and Seamus real nice first go, but the ortegas I have started and stripped several times. They just don't feel right. I only got them because I play guild regularly and wanted the options to field them but i don't like the models as much as the others and I think this subconsciously affects my painting.

It also explains why I have lots of armies for warhammer, 40K, confrontation, hordes, warmachine, ancient romans, samurai and napoleonics all with a mass of primed metal and a couple of very well painted figures!

  4. For what its worth i have found arcane miniatures to be very good.

I have had a lot of problems recently with Maelstrom and their stock (3 out of last 4 orders were delayed). Basically they electronicly book stock in when they get a delivery before they check the delivery has in fact got the stock they have ordered. So anything that is out of stock from manufacturer/distributor and not therefore delivered to them will show as being in stock but isn't (if you follow what I mean). Incredible - i worked in retail management for major companies for several years and never encountered this bizarre stock control method.

This was all explained to me by one of their staff when i phoned up to complain that about yet another message that an item was out of stock. I had phoned to ask why it was out of stock while the website showed 5 in stock!

  5. No painting disasters, but I regularly drop models. About a year back I dropped my entire cryx army. Bounced on the laminate flooring and bits went everywhere. I have never had the courage to try and restore it.

Was reminded of it tthe other morning when I noticed something shiny under my painting desk .... one of mortenebra's many appendages.

Worst Malifaux one was when I took Zoraidas box down to my workshop to spray undercoat and dropped them. My workshop is where I woodturn and they landed in a deep pile of shavings. Anyone looking closely at my silurids will notice that their heads now bear an uncanny resemblance to GW lizardmen saurus (although i have to say that they actually look quite good!)

  6. It is a very simple and quick job to trim his bar down enough to fit the 30mm base.

Would a bigger base be legal (especially for tournaments)? If he is on a 40 or 50 then it could mess up with models being able to move past and could give an unfair advantage when measuring distances. It would also inconvenience you when placing 'wholly within'. And you would need to remember that he only left 1 corpse counter (although to be fair he could probably make three from the belly alone).

  7. Morning all,

So here's what's baffling me, Orphelia can't take piggies, the pigapult doesn't come with any... so why in the story of said contraption does it say that the la croux family essentially invented it in a fued with the hedfields family?

    I want piggies!

    SS!

The La Croix fired all their piggies at the hedfields. Thats why they have none left!

  8. Citadel chestnut wash was fantastic -very warm colour and great for skin. Sadly you cant get it any more as they did away with it when they changed their inks range. Of the new ones Gryphone sepia is ok but not as good and Devlan mud is very cold tone by compsrison.

  9. To quote Q'iq'el;

'I think the love-hate relations (love of the game, hate for the high prices GW is asking for it) of Warhammer fans with GW is obscuring the obvious here. And the obvious is that this is something new and it will take some time for the teething pains to end'

While I agree with you that Citadel seem to be having teething problems and hope the quality will improve, I am not sure that this argument works. Working with resin is not really something new for GW - Forge World have been turning out resin models for years. FW may be pricey but this has been worth it (relatively speaking) as the quality is consistently excellent. Certainly the scale of the operation is something new, but the problem seems to be not that production can't meet demand, but that quality control has taken a hit. I just hope they solve the problems before their reputation sinks too far.

Personally, I prefer metal models. I like the reassuring weight of the model and the feeling that I have actually got something for my money. Makes it easier to justify the cost.

  10. Still got my first edition Warhammer (and expansions). Started out in wargames and moved into fantasy and sci-fi back in the early 1980s. I was told about Citadel miniatures by a guy who had just been offered a job with them. Name was Aly Morrison - anyone know what happened to him?

Going down memory lane; anyone else remember Laserburn? I think some of the 20mm original figs are still available.

I also dimly remember a set of fantasy rules that allowed you to field Knights armed with sten guns. Anyone got any idea what that was?

  11. There is a link in other posts to a handy list of all the changed cards and what was changed. V2 Cerberus had stalker leap and roar modified.

The v2 can be very small and on a couple of cards I have is half cut off at the card edge. Maybe you have a v2 card that is slightly off centre and the v2 has been quillotined off?
