  1. As per the Rules Manual, you may only opt to tie a Resist Duel.

Page 51 of the Rules Manual:

(Rst) Resist Duel Required: If a Rst stat is listed for a Spell, when it is successfully cast any model that could be affected by it must win a Resist Duel (Stat → Final Casting Total) by exceeding the casting total or suffer the spell’s effects. The Resist Duel occurs after the caster has completed its Casting Duel and successfully cast the Spell. Friendly models that could be affected by Spells requiring Resist Duels must resist as normal, but when determining final totals, can choose to tie the casting total and suffer the Spell’s effects.

Also, please put rules queries in the Rules Discussion forum.

  2. If this weapons damage flip inflicts Sever damage, the defender suffers another damage flip with the same fate modifiers plus and additional -, the additional damage flip cannot be cheated.

    Two parter.

    1. If the red joker is the initial damage flip, would the model suffer severe damage + the red joker flip + the massive trauma flip

    Yes.

    2. and i'm pretty sure this happens with a different spell, but if the red joker is on the secondary damage flip, would it trigger the red joker damage flip. IE Severe - Joker - Joker.

I'm not sure I get this second example. It's reading like you've flipped 2 Red Jokers.

  3. After a friendly model within 10" has been killed by an enemy melee strike, before that model is removed from play, this model may be placed in base contact with the killed friendly model. Remove that model from play. After placing this model, it may perform one melee strike targeting the enemy model.

Seems incredibly obvious, but just want to confirm model counts as killed by the opponent for slaughter.

    It does.

  4. When this model is removed from the game, each other friendly spirit in play immediately performs one melee strike targeting an enemy model in its melee range.

Just confirming this is a must and not a may.

If the Spirits are in Melee with an enemy model, they must perform the Strike.

  5. Bloodlust of the masamune : When this model activates, its first Action MUST be a melee strike action targeting a model in this model's melee range, a charge action targeting the nearest enemy model. If this model does not take one of these two actions first during its activation, it suffers 2 Wd.

Really guys? I feel like we're not taking a step forward on the whole wording stuff clearly front. what does the above mean.

    A. The victorias must take an attack against a model in melee or charge a model. (which can fail, and then end their activation)

    B. The victorias may not do either of those things, and instead take 2 wds.

    C. The victorias must take an attack against a model in melee or charge a model, and take 2 wounds and lose the activation if the charge fails

The fact this even has to be asked $$$$$$$$es me off because I do see other improvements in how the books are being written rule clarity wise, specifically the whole AR: bit.

If there is no model (friendly or enemy) in her melee range and if there is not an enemy in her LoS that she can charge (she still requires LoS to a model in order to charge), she suffers 2 Wd.

Keep your temper in check please.

  6. Two questions on Kill protege scheme:

1 - Can you deny your opponent the points for kill protege by simply sacrificing the nominated model yourself?

    Yes.

2 - If you nominate Candy for the target of kill protege and Pandora manifests her Avatar form, is the new candy the same one to count for the scheme?

    Yes.

  7. So to make sure I understand. Directly would imply a straight push where otherwise it doesn't have to be straight.

    Is that correct?

    • Toward / away from something (another model, a specific point, table edge, etc.) must move by the shortest route. A model moving in this manner cannot end the movement further (for toward) or closer (for away from) from the thing than it began. However, the model may move in such a way as to avoid any terrain or impassable items.

    • Directly toward / away fromsomething move as far as the effect requires in a straight line. Models will stop this move if they come into contact with other intervening models or

terrain they could not move through or over.

  8. it's times like this i wish threads had a button users could hit that signals

"multiple parties have weighed in on this, but still no resolution. We need a marshal to step in" and just leaves the thread sticked...

Marshals sometimes need to discuss the issues to make sure the intent is clear.

Marshals are also very busy people with other tasks as well.

Please try to bear that in mind.

  9. And I thought that calmed down after all the GenCon orders were shipped heh...

You know of I can help just drop me a line...

That also reminds me that I need to email Eric about the Puppet Wars Prizes as I haven't recieved them yet.

I know the prizes went out. (I sent 'em)

Including the Silvery Duck's that haunts this thread...
