  1. Are you sure you round up, if so, can you site it in the rules?

Page 5 in the Rules Manual:

    Rounding

When the rules require you to halve a number, round up to the nearest whole number, unless you are halving distances; distances are not rounded.

Example: Half of 3 would be 1.5, which should be rounded up to 2.

  2. And the one you pick that already belongs to the web, must be within 6" of the other half of its pair - correct?

    So you can't do

    Companion <---6 inches---> Trait <---6 inches---> Trait

    For example.

This was covered in the main Clarification post:

Sample 4: This sample answers the OP's question directly. A and B1 can activate simultaneously, but B2 cannot be included in the simultaneous activation because there is no model with Companion within 6” of it.

  3. You must finish the original Duel before beginning the next one generated from Onslaught.

The only time a new Duel may interrupt the current Duel is with Slow to Die Actions.

    So, in your scenario:

    1: Lady Justice triggers Onslaught.

    2: Gremlin triggers "Squeel!".

    3: Damage is Dealt

4: Squeel! triggers and the Gremlin is pushed 4" directly away from Lady Justice.

    5: Wounds are dealt.

    4: Duel Ends

5: The new Duel would then occur from Onslaught, but if the Gremlin is no longer within Lady Justice's melee range, the Strike will not occur.

  4. So, technically speaking, an Attack lasts till you determine if it was successful or not? Whatever comes later as an effect of the attack (simple duel, damage flip, Morale Test etc. etc.) is not considered part of the Attacking action and doesn't have Attacker and Defender anymore (unless it generates a new attack, but then it is resolved separately anyway)?

Did I get the mechanic right?

    Correct.

  5. Right. The question is it not an attack because it prompts a simple duel or is it not an attack because it's a Trigger and Triggers aren't listed among the types of attacks.

(I swear I'm not trying to be difficult.)

If a Trigger generates an Attack, then the Attacker and Defender rules apply.

If a Trigger generates a Simple Duel, then there is no Attacker or Defender.

  6. So the official stance is Simple Duels that are not Resist Duels never have a defender, is that right?

Page 50 of the Rules Manual:

    • A model casting a Spell with a :melee or :ranged icon in its Rg, or one that requires a Resist Duel, is casting an attack Spell.

    • Spells with a :melee or :ranged icon in their Rg are melee and ranged attack Spells respectively and follow the targeting rules for those types of attacks. Modifiers that affect melee or ranged attacks affect these Spells as well.

Attacks have Attackers and Defenders. Including Spells.

In the situation described, the Trigger is activated and generates a new Simple Duel of Wp vs. Target # that has no Attacker and no Defender. Immune to Influence does not come in to play.

  7. which is depressing since i remember the last time this came up, it was declared by the rules guys that card counting = cheating.

If you're going to quote me, do so in the correct context.

That was about looking for methods of counting cards. Don't do it on the forum.

And I also stated that "which in my own view is cheating" states a personal view and not an official view.

    In other words.

    Fixt.
