  1. You know we're all buying you a drink at Gen Con to "celebrate" your ban becoming official, right?

of course, Redstripe's right. Let's not derail another one. We're talking about totems. Surely, as champion of the L.C.D., you should relate to them.

I'm thinking there will be LOTS of good reasons to drink at GC...

  2. I pretty much agree with Kel. I love to paint minis and see painted minis, but I know how real life can intrude and prevent someone from getting some painting done.

I REALLY encourage my friends to paint, even when they don't paint well. Be supportive and they'll get it done as their time and interest allows. It doesn't really bother me at all to see an unpainted force across the table from me, but I certainly prefer it.

If someone is in it for the competition only, that's their choice. I can find my own ways to have fun (like completely spoiling their strategy through lunacy or mad smack-talk).

  3. August 14th is my birthday. So I will win all my games by default. (Of course I will win all my games ANYWAY! but I figured I would throw that out there.)

Thanks for posting this AoM. Looks like it's going to be a great time!

Heh. The 15th is MY birthday...so I win the tourny be default (I'm gonna be SO hammered - stupid decade roll-over).

  4. So there, we were, inverted in a two-G negative...wait...nope - just some more insanity for Friday. But in a totally GOOD way. The Wyrd booth was amazingly busy, with product flying off the shelves (some things are getting dangerously close to selling out, and one or two have, I believe).

Every time we run demoes, there seem to be people surrounding the table (and oh how beautiful the table is!) two to three deep. I know Eric was close to losing his voice from all the people he was talking to around the table.

Keltheos and David S (please forgive me if I got that wrong) showed up to provide some relief on the demo front (and step in to provide a prettier face than my mug for the TTGN video).

For demoes, we've been running Witch Hunters v. Neverborn (Lillith) and Death Marshalls v. Ressurectionists (Nicodem's group). The games generally take about 45 minutes, but we're often talking up the game as we play and explaining some things so they run a bit longer than that in practice. Everyone really seems to be responding to both the aesthetic of the world and the diceless system. LOTS of other game companies have come by and are very interested in what we're doing.

HUGE thanks go out to the Wyrd crew - FF, Mrs. FF, Eric and Casey - for taking pitty on the slaves and providing dinner - it was a most welcome break from some of the Gencon insanity (and the food at Alcatraz is pretty tasty!).

Off for Day 3 now - I'm sure Saturday is going to be insane as always.

  5. So, another day down - this time with more shopping and demoes!

St. Anger and I got to the hall around 9:15 or so - it was open earlier than normal for the VIG program. SO nice not to have to wait in the line outside - at one point, FF said he had to walk around the outside of the entire dealer hall to get find an entrance where he could get into the booth. We got into the booth and got to meet Red Strip and r2-j1, but just missed Keltheos, I hear.

The late-night fruits of FF, EricJ, and their better halves paid off in the lovely boxed Wargroup sets you all have seen in pictures. Also, Eric was slaving away and created the first sets of card decks for the game!

Sales seemed brisk, but that wasn't my department. EricJ, St. Anger and I were putting on a few demoes of the game. St. Anger and I played three games during the day (as we'll be doing pretty much the whole con) while on-lookers watched and asked questions. EricJ explained things as we were going and was roping people in the whole time. Sorry kids, but we're still play balancing things, so we aren't letting the rules out of our hands during the demoes - you'll have to bug Eric about that :vb_devil:. We wouldn't want people to take something as Gospel and then have it change between now and release.

I'd guess the best sellers were Rasputina, the Lillith and Ortega Gunslingers Wargroups and the base inserts.

The new minis all look fantastic - the Hag even comes with 4 little voodoo doll kids to be placed around her base.

We played one game that Red Stripe documented for a battle report - so look forward to that somtime in the near future. I'm sure you'll be seeing some [CENSORED] tags in there :)

Now, we're off for day two! Hope to meet some of you there!
