what you mention there has to do with a more significant aspect of "gaming" that scares of women/girls way more than sexy and (semi)naked female characters.

the rules/fanatisicm/competitive thing..

Ive known plenty of girls (even of the fashion-magazine type.) who find the art and miniatures etc. very interesting of this hobby... only to see their faces wringle into disgust when you walk past a gamestore with guys yelling at each other about the unfairness of the dice rolls and making *waaagh* noises.

and I think similar competitive loudness might scare off on forums too... heaps of broken, unfairness, change this, change that discussions.

actually it puts me off too.

(but then I have the opinion that, competitive in THIS hobby should be about painting.. competitive games for me are chess etc. )

the metal "morphing" ones... anyone have them for me ?

Levi was the last master from Book 1 to be released. I think he was even released after sone of the first book 2 masters!

As a result, I'm expecting we'll see his alt, along with the Book 2 Master's alts, over the next 12 months.

the boxset maybe .. Im pretty sure (tough not 100% ) Levi was in fact one of the earlier miniatures.. even before public speech about malifaux existed and it was just a pretty wyrd range of miniatures ? cant remember for certain tough

Always wondered how Mannequin+performer works gameplaywise for seamus, stylistically (maybe some converting.) it can be a great addition of belles (well, thematically at least.)

another fun thing to do if you dont play with avatars but do like seamus avatar model :

- Alternate seamus as desperate merc or something similair

- Avatar seamus as killjoy or flesh construct

and you got a whole crew of copycats and belles

I love all the concepts i see and the models themself and paintjob goes up and down, but mostly they are great

But i do miss a thing maybe im the only one in Malifax.

But i would love to see the names of the concept/modeller/Painter on the boxes, it should be easy to do, but i dont know if there are any polices against it ?

If i had a favorite conceptartist i could follow him/her a bit eaiser than it is now.

afaik all are in the credits, and if you are a big fan of someone's work, and that someone doesnt want to remain in complete anonimity its quite quickly done with a bit of google to find out who did what

I Myself have on my table a longterm fan character project (art, fluff, conversion for wich I have yet to find proper miniatures.. and rules eventually.) wich is a bit of a cruella de ville meets elizabeth bathory for ressers.

(with 2 companion undead poodles a living furcoat made of zombie hoarcats etc.) she doesnt want power, just eternal youth (power she has, as a wealthy member of the malifaux upper class.)

and then in book 3 was the fluff with the lady dealing in haunted mansions.. and was thinking how it would be fun if that would turn out as a master that can only have 1 of each profile but can somehow companion them etc. ... (basically turning each profile into a named *ghost* akin to the thirteen ghosts.) that would give a very different approach to playing ressers too I think (as I often see, well why should I take XX when I can take XX instead, and complaints about uselessness of some profiles.. if you can only take 1 of each, does change the approach.)

that said, I do think Kirai is a true resser.. just would love to see more female ressers.

Someone mentioned the Orphanage woman idea... wich I think is also awesome (tough..I initially tought Pandora is the orphanage woman, but she cant take crooligans etc. I made mine into an orphanage leader (with the woes being the shadows on kid miniatures etc. etc. ... every profile converted so it has a kid in its presence.)

that said.. orphanage woman maybe more as a neverborn or an outcast even, probably henchwoman.

lastly.

Agreeing with the gender switch ideas for masters would be fun side miniatures

and yes keeping certain aestics (so.. yes gender bended lilith would be a leather clad, showing skin kind of lad... why is that so horrible ?.. funniest would be zoraida and marcus... they pretty much are each others bended genre allready )

hoping on a more "civilian" and victorian/western take on easterners rather than a historical/mythological one personally..

so, Opium-den owners and their followings ( geisha, but a bit more street/urban rather than traditional.).. yakuza/triad gang types... old curiosity shop-owner, firework specialists, restauranttypes (butcher/cook) etc. etc. rather than samurais, monks etc. (tough offcourse the ronin, lady J.. they do need a sensei and all )

rather adding more the vibe of the samurai-punks, kirai and the ronin rather than too much misaki and the brothers... (I love either oriental theme.. mostly looking at it from a miniatures Id love to see point of view.)

I missed the molly part somehow at what time is it ?

wonder if the new faction=something for all factions acts out as something like the ten thunders having individuals (minions, henchman, masters.) spread out among all the factions and also having access to previously appropiately themed elements within the existing factions ( lots of orient themes among the resurrectionists allready for example )

not to mention famine in the bible is actually exactly THAT (the policies), and never named famine or famine mentioned in his blurb (famine is named in deaths blurb, who is the only named one.) as I read the black riders blurb Id say indeed injustice/abusement of authority and power/false measurements and unfairness are all aspects of that rider as well as the guild.

while everyone is pretty much equal on red=hooded (for a little extra one.. red riding hood anyone ? ) I never interpreted him as being war, considering at the time it was written war wasnt as seen as evil as it has become seen in modern times, but rather the embodiment/cause of strife,hate,rage and bloodlust leading to not only war, but all kinds of bloodshed and madness... Id say even more fitting for the neverborn faction then.

dead rider being death... I personally find the least obvious one (tough it probably is.) but the biblical Death is not dead itself, its specifically called a living creature, but one that causes death, funny enough the eternally obvious connection with the reaper and the undead I always found odd, if anything resurrectionists/necromancers/undead are archenemies of Death personified as they completely defy Deaths sole purpose.

In fact Id say when looking at rider-faction connections, conquest is the most likely/fitting one of them to be connected to the dead rider and resurrectionists, point being tough that Death fits even less with Arcanists, hence I assume its more likely dead rider is indeed Death.

offcourse these are all personal opinions and interpretations and Im amused by the fact, that, much like the alleged source material the malifaux riders can be interpreted so differently by different people I like that.

a per faction minion listing without details (or just simple stuff as *unique belle* or *undead beast* ) would answer many of the before questions actually. including : how many new minions does the book count ?

so 2011 gave me a rough time.. lots of loss, and having trekked around living in different place, just as I tought things had greatly turned around, after unboxing and organising all my stuff in my new apartment, I seem to miss one of my miniature boxes.. so organising everything I actually realise that it is not just any of my miniature boxes it was one of my 3 favorite boxes (3 boxes that contained miniatures I really liked, miniatures I concepted, LE miniatures and my full 2 favorite ranges : Malifaux and Pulp city.) .. only stuff that wasnt in the box was those that were assembled and partially painted, and those that I had gotten more recently.

for anyone who want to share in the exact magnitude of my pain, the huge list : O_O (yes, its only half of it, see my joining date... this box had been filled regularily over a loooong time >_< )

dead marshalls, judge, sonnia, peacekeeper, ramos and all his arachnids, injun joss, sabretooth cerberus, 2 molemen, 2 silurids, zoraida, bad juju, all book 1 gremlins, bishop, the cowboyhat ronin, 3 canine remains, my second seamus (I had 2), all (book 1) nephilim, necropunks, a couple of totems and bits from minis I hadnt fully assembled yet (rasputina arms, all lose ortega bits, all bases accesoires sets among others.)

and 260 euros worth of freebooter miniatures (most importantly.. the copies of the non-goblin ones I concepted : clockwork fairies, timewitch, doc taranto and dixie dynamite ) and some random steampunk miniatures from various ranges.. most I cant even remember what I had anymore, but among them some LE stuff and OOP stuff (my big collection of reserve midnor puppets to pimp bases with :\
