I did some experiments with tinting the ocean and they all looked like crap. Blue over brown just ended up looking grey. I may try again now that I'm not on a deadline. As for the dragon, there were unexpected advantages to being at ReaperCon for most of last round. I had access to the boneyard, so I hodgepodged together the body from the newest desert dragon with the wings from the for dragon hatchling and the head and tentacles from some odd fishy monster. I'll get you guys some better close ups at some point once I catch up to myself from the crazy of the last two weeks.

@easily_mused: it amsues me that it's about the size of my pinky nail, and I have tiny hands.

@SpectreEliteGaming: the flat feel was intentional to pull off the impression of being a map.

Best use of a CrunchWaffle waggling ever! Love the puddle uner the barrel, though I feel like the textures over the rest of it are a bit lacking though. The wood looks great but everything else feels a little too smooth.

Ha, I can't let you off easy.  Ditch the stand, or make it darker and flow into the piece more.  Other than that...AWESOME, as I expected it to be, except the light effect?  NOt sure what the light source is?  or was it artistic license for emphasis?  Unclear, it looks like it is on the stone, the guy a bit - arm and body, and the dog...or just color choice? Dang, I want to see this one in person.  And what a cute puppy!

The light effect is mostly artistic liscense, it works better in person. I think to make it properly naturalistic I'd need to knock a heavy shadow across the puppy, and I didnt really want to do that as I wanted him to stand out but to have the light frame the prospector. As for the stand I agree. I like the way it pulls him up and makes it feel properly cliff like, but I'd have been a lot happier if I could have found the same piece of wood, only darker. I may see if I can stain it before showing it at ReaperCon, there was no way I had time to do so for Iron Painter.

Spectre: if I can fit it in the themes I'm actually really temped yo try. I enjoyed this a lot.

I'm intrigued by the mixed reaction to the base. I'm really happy with it and find it sets of the rest of the piece in a way I like a lot. I squeed a little when the idea for it came to me after I had just put up the previous pics, and then pouted because I didn't think I'd have time to do it. I'm just glad the day ended up rearranging itself so that I ended up with time after all.
