  1. Week 1:
    The Judge
    Lone Marshall
    Death Marshall
    Guild Austringer
    Witchling Stalker

    Week 2:
    Ryle
    Hunter
(Ryle learned how to use Enchanted Weapons too!)

    Week 3:
    Guardian
(also bought me some Katanas, Grotesque Trophy and Snares. The Katanas are ace for the Guardian. The Guardian also learned The Hag's Kiss skill (gives him Poison +2 on his attacks))

    Week 4:
    Dr. Grimwell (with Expert Sleuth)
    Mounted Guardsman

First game for this week will be Thursday.

So far: 2 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss

  2. And finally another update! This time it's my one and only plastic Malifaux model: Ryle. And for this model I decided to use an interesting color: Citadel Bronzed Flesh. Yes, the good ol' Bronzed Flesh. I started the hobby back in '94 and Bronzed Flesh was among the first five paints I bought.
Why? Because Mike McVey told us so!
Yes, back in the day the White Dwarf and all hobby magazines told to paint your skin tones with Bronzed Flesh, wash them with Flesh Wash and highlight them with Elf Flesh. And no matter how hard I tried, I NEVER EVER got the result from the images. Not even close. And then I'm not talking about quality, but about colour hues (no way I was thinking I could top McVey ;)). The result was always a orangy flesh tone which was kind of odd. And it turned out I wasn't the only one. In the late nineties and early zeroes there were a lot of people fed up with Bronzed Flesh and new players were always told not to buy Bronzed Flesh! And so people switched (mainly to Vallejo Model Color in these times). And Bronzed Flesh slowly disappeared into nothingness...
Then cue the French painters. Yes, the maestros which massively changed painting: color use, NMM, emotion in painting...it was huge back then. And they used Bronzed Flesh. Yes, these guys took Bronzed Flesh and painted skin tones in the greatest lush colors which baffled me.
I remembered reading lots of tutorials and one of them by Cyril Abati is still online: http://neomodel.free.fr/tuto/tuto-visage-sm.html

So when I started painting Ryle, I was pondering skin tones. I first went for a sickly purplish tone to simulate the artwork. But when searching through my paints I found an old (but good!) pot of Bronzed Flesh. BAM, I was hit by nostalgia and years of hobby time flashed through my head. And YES, I then wanted to use it. I wanted to do Bronzed Flesh the way these French guys used them.
And hot damn, that was fun! I used Bronzed Flesh, Vallejo Model Color Cavalry Brown (which was used on other parts and on the previous models too) and Foundry Flesh Tone 5C. I'm happy with the results and I will surely use Bronzed Flesh again someday! Thank you Mike McVey for getting us Bronzed Flesh. I will cherish it forever.

  3. Man oh man, that Peacekeeper is fantastic! I thought the same thing like you about its design...but that paintjob really pulled me over!

Wyrd really needs painters again...it shows the models so much better than those cold and clinical renders.

  4. WOW...it has been ages since I logged in here. Was a regular about ten years ago for several years and then dropped out. Always loved the forum, the miniatures and the game. Also bought a lot of the old metals at the time, but never really got into the game. But I see I've still got the News Monkey title, how cool!
Anyway, me and my mates have started playing Malifaux. Malifaux M2E really is a superior game and M1 never really clicked with me (the game that is, the fluff and setting always rocked). But M2E clicked right away and we are playing regularly now.
And we have started a Shifting Loyalties campaign! So after almost ten years it is time to get paint on some Malifaux. I'm playing Guild in the campaign, so I wanted to start with the ones I play. My starting list is The Judge, Lone Marshall, Death Marshall, Guild Austringer and a Witchling Stalker. I decided to start with The Judge and the Death Marshall. One evening later and they were painted. Darn, that went fast! Loved them during painting. Next evening I started and finished the Guild Austringer. Okay...Malifaux is getting painted faster than most other games I have. Nice!
Next up will be a Hunter (bought him with Ryle at the start of week 2) or the Witchling.

    Thanks for looking!

    *EDIT*
Okay...how the heck do I insert images here? The [ img] [ /img] tags won't work...
    Thanks!

The massive ’jack can charge through forests, thick undergrowth, or the corpses of its felled enemies as easily as it moves across an open field.

    Malice.png

Shrouded in the ghostly remnants of its past victims, the helljack Malice rips the souls from those it slays to push itself to new heights of destruction. Few enemies can escape the reach of Malice’s heavy harpoon, which it uses to snare foes and drag them into range of its shredding claw. However, it is the helljack’s ability to take control of enemy warjacks, turning them against their own warcasters, that makes Malice a truly unique Cryxian horror.

  7. heavy_armor_4.jpg

Power Assisted Armour Concept Art for the G.O.T standard Trooper.

The PA armour is mainly used by troops carrying additional loads such as heavy and extra-heavy weapons, but can also be used in high-G environments. It feature some additional armour but its main function is to augment strength.

Cheers guys, we've got another 12 figures out this year, 5 at Colours in a couple of weeks, then the others before Xmas.

Two new vehicles next month also - the Russian Jeep and the mono-wheel scout vehicle and "crew"... hoping those are popular as I rather like them. The jeep comes with inter-changeable parts so that you can make 3 versions from the one kit, you just swap out the different roofs for the hard-top, open-top or Squad-support weapons.

Drivers and a deck-mounted rear-gun and gunners to be added next year also.

Those will be Agency standard Troopers, but the first of the Nova-Rus (russians baby yeah!) concept and figures should be out early next year too.

Some crystal-clear resin version of the Thermo-Optically camouflaged troops will be out by Xmas also... just finishing off the casting technique with those as they have to be cured at 60degrees... rather fussy stuff and a painfully slow process learning how to use it effectively.
