  2. TBH, I still think it's a totally whack concept that isn't going to stick with miniature gamers. I've read the review in the Ancible and it confirmed the reservations I had. We miniature gamers are an interesting (one might say strange) bunch of people. We revere our small pieces of plastic and pewter and in games want them to do the things we envision in our heads. But take away the 'regular' gameplay mechanics and we lose interest. I think this is what kills Ex Illis for a lot of people. The change to phones and computers takes away the charm for a lot of people I've talked to. To me it all feels like a poor man's computer game or a poor man's miniature game...a hybrid which doesn't work at full capacity. Although I'll follow the news on them (pretty miniatures are pretty miniatures! ), I'll pass on the game.

  6. How do the cards speed up the gameplay when a regular ruler/measuring tape works way faster? Especially with the things like the T's, movement, etc. the card seems extremely clunky. The rules themselves sound great, but the card thing instantly ruined it for me.
  7. Hey amigo! Yeah, good to be back. Cool to see familiar folks around here 8)
  8. Link: http://minionsale.narod.ru/ratnik.html Better off to buy them through www.miniaturicum.de. Reliable webshop and the shipping rates are not too shabby.

  11. Two new figures for August 23rd release: ASS 008 Queen of Shadows and IMP 013 Capitan Leon. IMP 013 Capitan Leon comes as a kit consisting of 12 parts. It can be pre-ordered for EUR 12.90 Link: http://www.freebooterminiatures.de/indexeng.html
  12. http://www.mercsminis.com/Downloads/mercs_basic_rules.pdf This is the basic rules from the book minus some of the more in-depth explanatory info. There are hints in the basic text about some of the advanced rules, but you won't find those pages in here. Link: http://www.mercsminis.com/ Hmmm, don't really appeal to me...way to gimmicky and fiddly with the way the unit cards are used for measuring.
  13. Forsaker - First Run Collectors Edition $25.00 The Forsaker has lost so much that his perspective has been skewed beyond repair. They see nothing but darkness and suffering, accordingly, they have abandoned their own humanity to better suit the struggle they see all around them. Ruthless, and fueled by despair, the berserk state of the Forsaker is dangerous to friend and foe alike. The Forsaker's fury is so consuming and violent that they often fix their weapons with rope or chain to their hands in anticipation of succumbing to their mindless rage. The Forsaker was envisioned by Yasmine Putri and sculpted in 3d by Jon-Troy Nickel. Check out the Forsakers Project Page for more photos and wip pics. The Forsaker character class miniature is available as a first edition collector's bundle. It includes: 1 x Forsaker miniature cast in high quality resin 1 x Forsaker concept art 6"x4" high quality art card. 1 x Hand numbered limited edition ribbon. 1 x Bonus alternate head for the miniature. Forsaker Pinup $25.00 The Forsaker Pinup! This pinup of our Forsaker character is beautifully imagined by Lokman Lam and sculpted by Thomas David. This pinup is carrying the trademark Forsaker sword and wearing a fantastic interpretation of the Forsaker's ornate armor. Check out the Forsaker Pinup's Project Page for more photos. The forsaker pinup is our second general release and will be available as long as we have stock, and we will continue to restock this item. This release includes: 1 x Forsaker Pinup cast in resin 1 x Round Base 1 x 6" x 4" Art Card of the pinup concept art. Link: http://shop.kingdom-death.com/
  14. This is a beast of a model weighing about half a pound in metal. Right now it will be produced in metal and has quit a few parts. I am looking into the cost to do it in resin and having the legs be done in set pose as to keep the skill level down on the building of this kit -- right now it is a tough model to build -- I did not use pins on the sample to the right as I wanted to see how they would hold up and would really suggest pinning on this model. I had originally wanted to keep this kit down to a retail price of no more than 25.00 but reality is $30.00 is what I am looking at.. So for the next 2 weeks I am offering a special price of $20.00 as pre-order special price. Deal ends the 20th so if you want one of these might as well save a few bucks while you can. The comparison shot is next to a games workshop tau battle suit and a imperial guard sentinel both trademarks of games workshop -- using for comparison only and without permission. 15. Darn...it has been a LOOOOOONG time since I've been here. Too many games and interestes...not enough time. Fortunately I've got some spare time the coming weeks, so thought I'd chip in again as News Monkey as long as possible. Here goes! Continuing on Friday’s Work In Progress shots, Andrew Wedmore has kindly sent us over some images of the finished thing! Check out below: And just think, those of you who have ordered will get their hands on this figure (and many many more besides) a month before the set is actually released! So whilst we’re beating on Andrew’s door to let us know how he’s achieved this amazing look, let us know what you think below. http://www.manticblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Andrew-Wedmore-Berserker-Lord.jpg http://www.manticblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Andrew-Wedmore-Berserker-Lord-2.jpg Link: http://www.manticblog.com/
  16. Cheers for the comments, really appreciate it! @demonherald: See this link...they have more awesome stuff (that barbarian is *gorgeous*): http://frothersunite.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=489697#489697
  17. Finally done! You can see the WIP's in this thread. Had a blast painting this little fella. I can really recommend Kraken Editions as their casts are very good and their sculpts are just so cool. Tutorial on the base will be done soon!
  18. Update time! Added more contrast to the dog. Next up is the base to see how everything comes together: And a backshot for daring people http://paintoholic.nl/wip/dog24.jpg
  19. Jup! Works perfectly fine. I started with turpentine/white spirit as Mig recommended this (also to fix the pigment better). But works well enough, especially if you spray-varnish.
  20. Cheers Toadie! Here's how: 1) Basecoat with Rackham Beast Skin (it's between Dark Flesh and Scorched Brown). See this chart: http://www.rackham.fr/images/stories/gammes/nuancier-rackham-color-GD.jpg (row 3, 1st color) 2) Thick wash with Rackham 'Cuir Naturel' 3) Normal wash with Rackham 'Feu de Merin'. 4) Normal wash with Mig's "Standard Rust" pigment: 5) Normal wash with Mig's "Light Rust" pigment: 6)Take Rackham Chitinous Green (or Scaly Green) mixed with white and apply this to the barrel with a small piece of foam from a blister package. This will get a nice damaged random effect. 7) Highlight the bigger weathered parts by adding white to the greenish mix. This will add some depth and will make it pop better.
