Another Winnipeger. A group of us are starting to play Malifaux at Imagine Games & Hobbies shortly. I've got my crew built and am about to start painting them. Let me know if you're interested in a game some time.

So my buddies and I got our models we ordered at the local store, spent an evening assembling them and decided to test out the rules. We opened up the little rules manual and went through processes in a step by step fashion. Whenever we needed to know what a term meant or how to resolve something, we were able to look it up very, very quickly. At the end of the night, we had only two rules questions and I checked the forum here. Our "it probably works like this" turned out to be the right answer for both questions we had. As someone new to Malifaux, I now consider the rules manual to be the new standard when it comes to how to get miniature rules publication right. So a big thank you to Wyrd for the least painful introduction to a new rules system I've ever had. We even felt like we actually played the game rather than just muddled through learning the rules.

I was hesitant to get Sebastian, but seeing him painted up to a table top standard has won me over. He's a solid miniature and you really made him work.

I would highly recommend that anyone thinking of running a Malifaux RPG should grab a copy of Don't Rest Your Head by Evil Hat: http://www.evilhat.com/home/dryh/ You'd need to reskin it for the Malifaux setting, but the madness talents would be excellent for Malifaux type magic.

I thought I saw some of Wyrd's base inserts in some of the pictures. But yes, definitely grab one of their miniatures and paint it up as a professional courtesy.

I remember hearing somewhere that Rusty Alice only works with certain models? Anyone know which ones?

It's a great tool, but it's not exactly a list I can take with me to the local gaming store and make sure I get the required miniatures or avoid getting something that requires something else I don't want to get. I guess once I get past the largeness of the model range and get familiar with things, I'm probably better off constructing crews and then getting those specific models. Is the list in this thread so far pretty complete? Any others being missed?

I meant Lelu/Lilitu. I don't really plan on getting Viktoria. I'm not sure which Outcast Master I'll end up getting. Any mercenaries that work especially well with Neverborn (or Lilith specifically)?

I've decided I'm going to build a second faction as I go so I can invite people to play who don't have miniatures yet, so I think I'm going to start by getting some mercenaries. I'll probably get the twins, but I'm going to wait to lee Lelu in person before I buy him. I really don't like his pose and there's no shortage of demon/devil miniatures out there that I could use instead. So I may just order his card and find an alternate miniature.

It's not always immediately obvious (especially to new players) which miniatures you can't field unless you have another specific miniature in your crew. So I propose a thread project to help new people (like myself) to either avoid purchasing something they can't field or to make sure they get the required model so they can field it. So which models in your faction require another model and which model is required? Formatting: Faction - Miniature - Required I think this one is correct as it has Totem (Lilith): Neverborn - Malifaux Cherub - Lilith

Thanks, I'll give them a read. Okay. I see how Lilith could work well with the Nephilim and their ability to grow with blood. I don't know if I'm going to go that route. I'll need to figure out more of what I want and how things work. Is Lilith balanced assuming that you will be taking and growing Nephilim with her? Does she suffer if you don't take any terror tots?

I'm part way through the second episode. I absolutely love the fiction elements and the atmospheric things like interference and sound effects. Fantastic podcast.

I'll check them out. At first I didn't have a positive reaction to Lilu's pose, but when I think about looking down on it on the table top, I think it might look pretty good. I'll go read the ton of other threads about the two.
