dsmiles
Very nice Lord of the Feast. You could use better lighting, though.
Webmonkey
Yeah,.. and a better camera would help. Sadly,... all I have is the one built into my phone. But thanks though.
diehard
Nice looking, but as noted kind of hard to get a real good look. The LotF is a fun figure to paint. Mine looks a lot more dead than yours though. It's neat how everyone has their own vision of figures and color schemes, it's one of the things I really love about this hobby. (Yeah, I'm more about the modeling than anything, but I do like to play a good game.)
Webmonkey
Agreed,.. it's interesting to see different peoples' take on different models. Hell,.. you can give me 3 of the exact same model, and I could easily give you 3 varitaions of it. My own shortcomings,... blending mostly. I can do shading and highlighting and the like, but getting the colors to blend and fade (gradient) from one color to the other I seem to have issues with. It always seems to me to feel like the transition is still too "chunky",.. and doesn't flow smooth enough between the colors. This comes in a lot when trying to do shiny effects, such as glass or gems. I can get the colors, but they seem to lack that smooth color fade, and painted on "light reflectivity". I guess I'll have to try and find someone to show me how.
dsmiles
This blog talks about two-brush blending. It's specifically talking about black armor, but I imagine the technique could be applied to anything.
