  1. They really buried the lede by hiding the RST and TN of Sow Chaos - they're both NOTHING. With +2 Distracted, Nellie can get off an unresisted pseudo-Obey. That, plus her ability to give Distracted through a WP 14 Pulse and spread it to other models, is going to be bonkers.

  2. Just got my ass kicked with Nellie into Pandora for the second time in a row. First game was in keyword; second game I took the Guild Steward and Pale Rider to try and get some condition removal and Ruthless.

Both times my opponent just parked Candy next to Phiona, sent Hinamatsu after my minions, and turned off all my triggers with Stunned.

My opponent says not to go into the middle against Pandora, but I don't really see how to make that workable with Nellie. I need Phiona to be able to Take the Hit for my squishy models; Nellie needs to be close to everyone to benefit from Breaking News; you want Allison close to turn off triggers; the Steward has to be close enough to heal whoever gets Stunned AND heal Phiona if she takes too much damage. If I split my models up, my opponent just sends Hinamatsu down one flank and Teddy down the other, and any minions there die.

It sucks because my opponent really likes the Woe keyword, but I just can't seem to play a game against them that feels balanced. Candy doesn't die, even with the Rider, and once Pandora, Candy, the Poltergeist, and the Sorrows have given half my crew Stunned, there's very little it seems I can do. Is Nellie that reliant on triggers and auras? Is there a way to play her into Pandora?

I thought the Neverborn were the indigenous people of Malifaux? Or are some humans native to Malifaux as well?

Yeah, in-story the Neverborn are the indigenous inhabitants of Malifaux.

I was referring to the fact that Anya seems to be a character of Native American descent. I'm Canadian, and in Canada the people groups that are known as Native American in the USA are called Indigenous Peoples (because they are the indigenous inhabitants of North America). So my first instinct was to refer to Anya as Indigenous. Although, given that the Breach is in Santa Fe, she's probably more accurately Native.

Anyway, point is that Native Americans were very important in the historical Wild West setting that Malifaux plays on, and are still an important part of America and Canada today, so I'm just excited to see a Master who reflects that! Plus, her design is just generally gorgeous.

As noted, English Ivan and his crew are recurring characters in the wider fiction. For those not familiar with him, here's the Breachside Broadcast ep of their debut, as originally posted in our Gencon thread by Jesy Blue:

It's one of my favorite stories from 1e, so I think it is certainly worth a read/listen if you're even vaguely curious.

I came to Malifaux late enough that I knew English Ivan was going to be a Master when I listened to that, and it got me so excited. It's such a fun little heist story and fits in perfectly with the rest of the lore.

  5. My partner and I just played our most ridiculously unbalanced game of Malifaux yet. I played Mah Tucket and he played Dreamer. I tried to keep away from his heavy hitters, snipe his bigger models off quickly, and avoid Willpower duels where possible.

But it's just not possible to win every single Willpower duel. He had the Dreamer and the Widow Weaver summoning. By the end of turn 3, he had 8 more models on the board than I did. We called the game after turn 4 because I just didn't have enough AP left to do anything against his onslaught of models, and the game wasn't much fun for either of us at that point.

I've looked around for tips on how to beat the Dreamer, and it seems to boil down to "hit him hard, fast," but... that just doesn't seem to work. Nor does "just ignore him" work, either. He still gets enough minions out that I have to kill some of them if I want to be able to get off any schemes. Can anyone give some more tips? Particularly for a Bayou player?
