My order came through to Finland. I was supposed to get 3x commander tier stuff and some extra. I got SOME of the add-ons and stretch goals (not all), but didn't get a single allegiance box, not a single rulebook, no fate decks, no tokens. Basically lacking any essentials to even play the damn game.

    Pretty embarrassing.

Don't want to leave this matter on such a negative note, so:

In the end I actually received everything I was supposed to. My stuff just came in two separate deliveries. I had tracking for the first box, but had no information about the latter one. Hence my salty post.

But all is good now. For me. Hopefully everyone else gets their stuff ASAP.

So we can't express opinion on what we like and do not like? Because that is all anyone here can do. No one here is in a position to censor anyone (that I know of, at least - Nathan naturally excepted) so why the reaction? The above seems to suggest that criticizing art should be forbidden which is an entirely silly idea.

The biggest thing that we can "threaten" Wyrd with is that we might stop buying their products but no one in this thread seems to be even hinting at that! And if they were, they very much should be allowed to.

...I'm honestly having a very difficult time understanding the counter arguments presented in this thread. *scratches head*

I'm not opposed to feedback and voicing opinions. It's more about the tone and intent of the feedback.

Discussion here has been very civil and I do realize I'm perhaps talking about more extreme behavior you see floating around these days (let's not pretend that doesn't exist), where people are basically saying that catering to their political agenda is the only moral thing to do. Not including certain minorities is problematic, certain humor is horrible etc.

I just feel like art, comedy and free expression is being attacked these days. (again, not accusing anyone here, just speaking generally)

No story exists in a vacuum, there are thousands of different contexts that inform the shape of a story, from an author's individual preferences (which are shaped by the society they grew up in) to the current sociopolitical landscape, to the history of paper manufacturing in the industrial revolution. Consumers have always been one of these contexts because works are made for an audience, but in a more pragmatic sense creatives need money and consumers give them the money. I think it's disingenuous to suggest that art is solely the free expression of the artist rather than a culmination of contexts of which the artist is one part.

It's often also other way around: author makes his thing and audience that likes it gathers around it. But yes, obviously many authors probably tailor their work based on factors you described. But often that has been more subtle, where nowdays with political correctness it becomes more blatant and aggressive. Creators are more frequently straight up confronted and demanded inclusion of minorities.

Generally as a society we all agree that entirely unrestricted expression is wrong, for example I hope that we would agree it would be inappropriate to publish a story where halfway through there is a page-long bigoted diatribe, despite the fact that is still an example of the artist's free expression at work.

Inappropriate by majority's moral compas? Yes. Should it be illegal or otherwise actively silenced? No. I do think it's best that everyone can express themselves, because if I see "page-long bigoted diatribe" at least I can see where that person stands and can denounce him for it. Silencing people rarely works and good ideas eventually end up winning more often than not.

And remember that just as an artist can have freedom of expression, so can the audience. Criticising a story for going beyond the limits of what you consider acceptable is not trying to take away freedom of expression, it is freedom of expression, and it's a good idea for artists to at least listen to and consider feedback because there are often some good ideas in there. I mean, that's why we have playtests here.

Criticizing someone's work is different than trying to mold his future work to fit your political agenda. And playtesting is about game balance, not comparable to fiction, but whatever.

All in all, I have no issues with LGBT characters and I don't even have issues with consumer feedback in general. My problem is that some people feel entitled to pressure creators to cater their political agenda.

Not sure if this thread caused the addition of this throw away line, kinda cool if it did.  It would be pretty last minute though.

    I disagree.

I like the idea that writers, artists and other creative people can freely express themselves. I find it annoying that we consumers come poking to their work with our sticky little fingers: "You should do more this, or you are racist homophobe who contributes to heteronormative patriarchy." (This was obviously hyperbole)

It must be very uninspiring to add something to story, because you are essentially guilt tripped to do it.

@Aaron The Striped Stalker looks much bigger than the 30mm base size on the card.  Are they really going to be 30mm?  if not, then that means the Morphling can't join them.  Although looking at the morphling's render, it also looks bigger than 30mm which would be great as that means he can join the Karkinoi too...

Well it wouldn't be first time, when Wyrd has models on too small bases.

    I'm looking at you, Santiago...

  7. One of everything. Or I might drop Devouring Eel out, I'm not fan of the model. We'll see what rules it has, that might change my mind.

If I drop the Eel, I might add additional egg clutch and morphling.

  8. I'm probably gonna say The Frenzy as well. Way they remind me of Street Sharks is perfect amount of fun goofiness, but they still look menacing enough to be taken seriously.

Since Frenzy was already mentioned, I'm gonna also name my second favorite: Speckled Crawlers. I just love those lifeless bulging eyes and row of huge fangs, makes them look really disturbing. They really remind me of those horrific deep sea fishes, namely fangtooth or dragonfish.

I actually think just 1-2 max is going to be the way to go.  For hiring, it will only be if you have 2-3 script leftover. If you have four script or more than I think any of the units will be a better choice.

Yeah, for hiring. But I feel like summoning them is the main way to get them. And by looking at the card, I don't see why you wouldn't, one way or the other, get at least few of them. Reinforcement tokens are a big buff for most of Hordes units and being target of "Survival of Fittest" somewhat hinders any unit other than eggs.

Karkinoi look pretty handy in a fight, so it's unlikely you're going to want them sitting there just laying eggs.

True, but if each fireteam summons one egg clutch per game, doesn't seem like a bad time investment to me. It's 6 scrip worth of models, after all. Of course, it's hard to say, since I don't know the flow of the game enough. Maybe one stagnant turn for Karkinoi is too much, but I doubt it.

  10. Now that we have seen the actual rules of these yummy little eggs, this topic's question becomes pretty relevant.

They seem really useful for the Hordes. They are easy and delicious way to get your guys to glory and collect reinforcement tokens. And since they benefit from Endless Numbers, them "not being on the table long" is really not true.

It's hard to say off the cuff are they worth 2 scrip (probably are), or do you just want to summon them with Karkinoi. With three 8 or above cards, squad or Karkinoi can summon three in a turn (in theory gloried Karkinoi could summon six in a turn).

So, maybe three is good choice?

    The sculpt adjusted some

    The pose sure looks better.
I'm just sad to see that little fellas don't seem to be on board anymore. It gived the model nice character to have little brothers riding along.

Really like those bug-eyed crawlers. Kinda wish there was more of "deep one"-esque creepy fish people in the range. Don't care all that much for Armored Whelk or Karkinoi. Although I'm joining the choir and say that Stormsiren is amazing!
