Sure if they get close enough to do that before dying... which they don't.  They are cheep but 4ss for a model that does nothing before being removed from the table isn't good value. At best they will get down a scheme marker, get killed by any other 4 pt scheme runner in the game and then have the marker overturned. total value 0pts. If you are buying 2 of them you are wasting 8ss that you could spend on a Stalker that will score you at least 2 points and murder something. if you are only buying 1 of them then just save those SS to use as damage reduction on Nix or Benny who have actual effect on the game.

Totally agree with this.  The WP need some kind of buffs to help them whenever there is an errata. I know they are only 4ss models, but it would seem to me that either giving them Mv 6 or something like Stealth would make them at least a good hire.  I don't think I'll be hiring them very often.  I would rather take the Midnight Stalker at 8ss and have a good and reliable scheme runner who can also be a scheme runner hunter.

I've had a rough time getting Hamelin to function well in M3E. I take all of the blame for my lack of success using him. I just need to figure out how to best play him.  There are some good mechanics and tools to work with, the crew just seems clunky and slow to me as a whole.  I think this crew generally speaking lacks speed/movement.  With the current Strat and Scheme pool for M3E movement/speed is really important.  I find this crew just to be too slow and operate in a bubble. What are other peoples thoughts?

I have played him about 10 games now (about 6 other games just prior to end of beta) and haven't had any success with Hamelin's crew.  I have to go outside of Keyword a lot to bring solid scheme runners. My last game with him was Turf War against Zipp and that was awful.  Zipp and his crew ran circles around me while Macha, Zipp and First Mate locked down most of my crew.

On the flip side, models from the Plague keyword that have been good for me are Nix, Benny and the Rat Catcher.  Nix can be a solid tank until you run into a crew that brings irreducible damage. Otherwise he can lock down part of the table pretty well.  Benny's ability to summon rats, gain fast from scheme marker removal as well as his Swarm them ability  (which is very good until your opponents have seen it once and know how to avoid it).  The Rat Catcher has been decent, although I wish there were more types of vermin models available to use Moldy Cheese on.  The times that I have used Moldy Cheese on WP it's just sent them faster to their death, even despite getting them into what I thought would be a "safe" place. Moldy Cheese has been useful on a rat though to set up a late turn Benny Swarm Them action.

I love the theme and fluff and will still continue to play the plague crew.  I think I just need to figure out how to play them better in M3E.

  2. One that I have found is that with Freikorps he can run with the Steam Trunk and get upgrades thrown on him as long as he's not in LOS of VS.

Also, I don't have Jack Daw, but Montressor could use his Cursed to Watch ability ("Cursed to Watch  Rg 10"  Stat 6  TN 10
Target a friendly Tormented model with lower Cost.Target takes a non-bonus Action")  on the Midnight Stalker while he's out of LOS of Daw.

Other than that, I haven't seen much yet.  I would think that they are being careful with this one for now.  It would be nice (and FUN!) if he could also take on the same base abilities of the keyword (ex. "Diseased" from the Plague crew).  That would likely require a lot of time (which the devs do not have right now) to test and balance just 1 model.

  3. I agree with Mikey_C.

I was really hoping for the Freikorpmann to get some sort of errata(s) to help them.  Even though they have decent stat lines, they just seem to be lacking something...  I rarely use them anymore. They can make use of Shill's HTK bubble, but in most Strats and Schemes I have found that I rarely have them close enough to take advantage of it since they are primarily scheme runners.  Depending on the Strats and Schemes, I could play Von Shill closer to them, but pulling him away from the main action isn't good. If you use the emissary they can shoot into engagements without randomizing which is nice, but not a great use for an emissary that is not particularly good. Curious if other Shill players feel that way, or if I am missing something?

Or an Alternate Watcher based on Bubo from the old Clash of the Titans *Clockwork Owl*.

Yes Please.  I like this idea.  I'm also in favor of a watcher box (3 models) and a guardian box (2 models).

Alt Ryle could have some cool possibilities.

I also like the thought of a Hoffman nightmare crew set.  Although, I'm not quite sure what I would like for theme but definitely something more steampunky.
