  1. So getting back into Malifaux from my extended hiatus. Painting some models here and there and just getting more models to play with for 10T. Just to get a start on posting more painted models:

Also, having trouble with how I left Misaki's paint scheme. What's a good paint strip for Malifaux models? A bit afraid to use PineSol on it as it might intereact negatively to Wyrd's type of plastic.

  2. So boo to the forum rollback losing some of the posts, but it is for a better forum-ing experience for all, so it's well within reason.

Will be posting my progress on Mei Feng's crew to beef up the thread again. Let me know what you guys think!

(As always, click on the image for a larger resolution)

Beefed up Mei's base by adding girders to the gap at the front and the back. Will be painting these as if they were bent through super heating, bright reds, orange whites, on the seared black and rusting/oxidized red of the iron at the end.

I love painting the faces on these Malifaux models, gives me a chance to give them much more life and character. As always, I do the eyes first because they're the bane of my existence. Really love how they ended up, especially the lips.

For the others I've just added miscellaneous accessories to bring more life to their bare cork bases. Wouldn't be a rail crew if I don't show train rails, same size as the girder from Mei's base, but added snapped popsicle sticks to be the sleepers. Highly inaccurate though as the rails typically rest on the sleeper blocks, but I guess this should be the third rail off to the side.....but that would mean electricity....<facepalm>

Kang I added a ton of medium grit basing rocks to act as coal, added some to the shovel as well. Emberling is the same, though I'll paint these while they're stoking, which will be fun to practice OSL on. I added just a bit on the Golem's base, mostly just mildly stoking coal that fell from the behemoth's furnace as it runs to its quarry, or to Mei's side.

Progress is fairly slow, but the effects are worth it it to take my time on. I'm noticeably getting better and faster though, and it's great to see effects of practice bearing fruition.

  3. Thanks for the positive comments.

I'm liking how the belt turned out as well. The eyes gave me the most grief (I redid it 5 times!). only thing bugging me though was the washes in general made the mini suuuuuuper shiny. Will remedy once I blast it with matte spray.

I did finish Dismounted McCabe last night, but was too sleepy to post :P. Will post it later tonight and the progress that I've done with Sidir. One qualm I have currently with Sidir is how much flat space he has. Could turn the mini boring if I just painted it straight out, so will probably think of an appropriate textile pattern to use on him.

  4. Hi All,

I'll be posting WIP and finished crews revolving the Ten Thunders faction, and hopefully get some helpful tips and tricks from the more experienced painters out there.

As an introductory, and something that will be the main focus for a week or two, I'll be posting my progress for Lucas McCabe's crew, the Relic Hunters.

Just primed the whole crew white, and started on the flesh base for them. Almost done Dismounted McCabe, and its mostly just the basing for him. I'm liking painting Heroic scale, much less constrained by the tiny details of 25mils.

  5. Hey!

A group of us just recently got into Malifaux as well and we're all in Calgary. I'm not sure where abouts in the city you are but we usually play at Imaginary Wars; we'll be there around 2PM today for some games (closes at 5 today though). If you can't make that send me a PM and perhaps we can connect some other time!

Sick! I play at Imaginary Wars as well!

I sent ya a PM dude

  6. Hello folks,

Been lurking the Wyrd site and the forums for a bit, and just recently started Malifaux (like literally a few days ago). Player presence in Calgary is pretty quiet unfortunately, so finding an opponent is bit hard. But hopefully I could convince my regular playing group to jump in.

Got a Mei Feng Crew, and planning to grab a Lucas crew so I could start demo-ing the game to my friends.

Hoping to talk you folks, and see you around the forums :)

  7. Yeah, Mei Feng is a really cool Master. the other ones I might consider is The Brewmaster (poison, lol), and Jacob. I like the idea of Dual Masters, as they don't constrain me to a single path, but still consider my collection as a unified whole.

With how quiet this thread is, I'm guessing its not that big in Calgary then? :(

  8. Welcome to the forums, I loved Calgary when I visited a lovely city.

Which crew did you pick up?

    Thanks! :)

I picked Mei Feng, her combo mechanic and avatar-esque feel really drew me in. In that regard, I'll probably main 10T and branch out from there with their Duals.

    Welcome aboard the forums!

    Thanks very much!

    Welcome to Malifaux!

Well, I'm sadly not from Calgary, but if you have any questions, please lay them on me. I trust you already found the WIKI?

Yes i did! Hard to forget a wiki page with an interesting title XD

I'll be sure to bug you when the time comes!

  9. Incredibly new to Malifaux, became interested a few days ago, and opted to grab a crew to give it a go.

I'm liking what i see with the crew aesthetic, but what hooked me was the diceless-card mechanic the system offers.

Hopefully I could get my first game in, and if anyone here is from Calgary and has time to teach a newbie a thing or to about the game (or wants to trounce said newbie), then be sure to drop a line, I'd be happy to play a demo with you.

    Thanks in advance!
