  1. One final thing about Ulix. He is often held up as one of - if not THE - cleverest gremlins... just as Ulysses was the most clever, inventive, and tricky of the greek heroes at Troy.

Also, didn't see it mentioned before: could Silurids be a reference to the Silurians of Doctor Who? Or just to the Silurian Period (443 - 419 million years ago - the time when life first migrated to the land).

  3. Since reading this thread I have switched to plastic cement (currently using the GW stuff as it's what I had on hand - once that runs out I'll be looking into cheaper alternatives) and I have noticed a drastic decrease in the frustration level of some of the models I've been assembling. That extra grace period before it sets up completely really helps.

  4. Ulix seems to be based a bit on Ulysses/Odysseus - his dog Penelope has the same name as Ulysses' wife and his position as master of pigs could refer to either the incident on Circe's island where Ulysses' crew was turned into pigs or to the fact that the swineherd was one of the two servants who remain loyal and helped him take back his house.

EDIT: Oh, an he's got that bow too.

  5. I'm not sure if this is true everywhere, but the Michael's where I live (San Diego) sells a line of diorama products called "Missions of California" for modelling old Spanish missions. The scale is a little off from Malifaux BUT, one of the products in the line is a thin plastic sheet molded in the shape of spanish style roofing tiles. All you would need to do is cut out the right size, maybe build some sort of support underneath to give it an angle, and paint it up.

  6. I've gotten most of my golem from Gen Con put together, but the gremlin on the swing is proving to be - well - a nightmare. I have a feeling that if his arms aren't lined up exactly right then the entire swing assembly will never fit together properly, but between the sausagey nature of my fingers, the tinyness of his arms, and the fact that the indentation to line them up is not very deep, I can't seem to make them line up on dry fitting. I would try to pin them, but the smallest bit in my hobby drill is almost as wide as the gremlin's shoulders. Can anyone who has successfully assembled this model give me any advice?

  7. Why do you guys think Wong with Mancha is a no brainer? Mancha seems stand alone to me. I would more likely expect Burt and Gracie in a Wong box.

I wouldn't have said no-brainer until Crossroads came out and featured Mancha heavily in Wong's fiction. Now I'd be willing to err on that side.

  8. I've been working on an idea in my head for a dual faction Gremlin/Guild master. He was just an ordinary feller, living on the edge of the bayou with his kin, when one day he stumbled on a bunch of those wierd glowing rocks the humans like so much. Being smarter than the average gremlin, he managed to work out a deal with the Guild where he would sell them to glowy rocks and they would not shoot him or his (since he cleverly didn't tell them exactly where the rocks were). Finding himself with more money than it was safe to keep around his bayou neighbors, our intrepid gremlin made the only logical decision: he loaded up his kin and he moved to Malifaux. Now he and his family live quite comfotably in the new construction zone (their new neighbors are less than comfortable with it) and our gremlin - let's call him Jeb - does some work for hire guiding Guild patrols safely through the bayou.

Units would include Jeb hisself, the master, his totem, a put-upon Guild official tasked with keeping the gremlin family out of trouble so their soulstone keeps flowing to the Guild, Granny, Jeb's cantankerous mama, and various other members of Jeb's clan.

  9. I would love an official word on this one way or the other. There is the old neverborn description that namedrops gremlins, but then some newer descriptions specifically describe neverborn as "black blooded" which gremlins clearly aren't.
