  1. Kill Francisco and Papa first. Hell even with the buff Papa is only WP 6 so he should be easy to lure in to blowing himself up. Also Perdita does not ignore a few different rules like hard to wound and hard to kill. Also her crew has a low weak damage spread of 2 over most of her crew with no built in crit strike. So Hard to wound models with high wound counts that can heal are a good bet like Teddies. But I think the biggest issue you have is you are playing vs what sound like a pretty good player with a dick kicking list with masters that she hard counters in a lot of ways. Like the High WP all around, the ignoring incorporeal, and the not having to take horror duels is the whole point of her crew. it is why she is the neverborn hunter :P. The Viktorias are  there to kill the minis with all the defensive abilities in the book and to do it from half the board away. But they fold kind of fast do to low wounds vs high MI and SH crews. Seamus Is low DF and again really relies on WP dules to get stuff done. Stuff that would give you a much better matchup would be like Lilith, Tara, or Kirai.

Edit: came up with more ideas

Another thing you can do is build a crew to just do the strategies and schemes and just not fight her. Also Zorida and Swapfeids would be pretty good as well since they Charges and shooting take a  :-fate if they have not activated yet. Even more so since bad juju fits with high wounds and can heal even come back to life. Hell you could even take a Papa Loco of your own.

  2. So Mccabe can pass out upgrades during his activation, but cannot bring them back in the same activation he gives them?

Because "Loan" is at the beginning of his activation?

Yes that is how it works.

RB has it right except number 4, disengaging strikes cannot declare triggers.

The Strike can not declare triggers. But can the defender declare triggers? Because the book only talks about the attacker and his strike.

  3. 1. Turn yes. Activation no. Since is says when he activates.

    2. Yes the 30mm can activate but he has slow and cat take interact actions. I don't know where you got the idea he takes damage from but he does not.

    3. Yes it is a condition so you can put it on any any point and still get it.

4.I don't see why not it is a MI action that failed. Not a 100% on this.

  4. It is a fine box set. It has some healing and cool stuff with conditions, upgrades, and summoning. But it really becomes Yan Lo does most of the heavy lifting since he is the only damage model in that pack. I would say pick up Toshiro or Izamu next to get some extra pow out of your minions and summon them back or deal damage respectfully.

  5. As zFiend states they aren't using the soul stones for their abilities such as damage prevention etc, it is paying a cost for an enemy ability. The cost is pay 2ss / cards or be killed outright. This particular trigger can only occur if the attack it triggers from deals damage. The damage has been dealt and now you must pay 2 cards or soul stones to prevent the triggers effect.

With that in mind they can drop 2 SS from their crew's pool to prevent death even if they can't normally use them like Masters or Henchmen

Oh I knew that already :P. I thought it was some crazy like new meta just found in the rules thing. I out thought my self. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  6. Just a quick note, I've been lead to believe (only recently) that any model can discard SS to save themselves from death, not just Masters and Henchman. I always thought it was only SS users who could do this but this appears not to be the case. There was a thread about this a while ago but I can't for the life of me find it now. If I can i'll link you to it

Yeah it's a cost not linked to the ability to use soulstones.

How does this work since in the rule book on page 47 it says only henchmen and Masters can use soul stones to prevent damage.

  7. For me what you get out of Risky Ventures does not outweigh what you get from having stones. Stones do way too much for you. The damage reduction, adding more cards to your hand, refliping for clutch initiative, or the adding a :+fate or a suit. Is way too vital to lock yourself into a box with. What I think Risky Ventures does do is give you a huge advantage when you both have no stones. But I only think this way because I feel like the + :crow you get to MI is not that great do to you still needing a highish crow to get the assassinate trigger off. Since most people will try to stop it happening really hard. I think where Risky Ventures is best is when you have tempo. You have more cards in hard then the other player and they have little to no stones.

  8. Can't have lead lined coat with Ryle. Model can't have armour already. I'm surprised you've not had that much success with Hunters but during the playtest period they were the model I worked on the most so they've kinda clicked with me

Ya the Coat was being dumb He can't even take it since he is not living (I never take this upgrade or upgrades on Ryle) and I got it mixed up with the modification. As for the Hunters I feel like they have this one really good combo but if you can't get the combo off and VS people who know what it does it is really hard to get off. But like I said only 2 games so I could just have not had them click yet

Actually Remote Mines works well with Arcanist Assets and Field Mechanic. Use (0) Frantic Repairs to remove one of your Modifications, Heal Hoffman or the Target 2 then place a Scrap Marker anywhere within 8" and LoS. Then you use Detonate to blow up the Scrap. They work really well together if you are prepared to drop a Mod/Upgrade from time to time. You can also use them with Scrap that Joss/Large Arachnid creates or when your own Constructs die. It's not a total write off and can be really effective.

I don't think it is a total write off but it most of the time I would rather use the scrap to AoE heal. Because I think a WK12 duel is too easy to cheat out of.

Tessalation Magnet can be really useful on somebody like Langston or a Rail Golem who naturally have access to a lot of movement. You can have them drag slow Constructs around or even a Metal Gamin to help them out. Definitely worth taking with a fast moving Construct with Hydraulics, Langston or a Rail Golem.

I could see that working out better need to try it sometime.

  9. After the few games I have played with hoffman and VS him. I feel like some of the upgrades you took were not really that great. The Remote mines are not that great for damage unless you have lost constructs already or are vs an Arcanist and with proper screening the not being moved or pushed is not going to get a lot of use. But on the other hand OSA gives hoffman fast which is great since he can chain most of his spells already it gives you more power loop casts and more Machine Puppet casts. Which is where he gets a lot of his mileage since he can make Ryle, Peacekeeper or Langston shoot, punch and move more, It even pushes and gives fast. Also with Ryle you would have been better off with extra stones or Expert Sleuth / Lead Lined coat. Since you will be using Socially Repressed or Field Repairs almost every turn and hoffman will be eating up most of the scrap markers on heals and upgrades. Also Wardens are Amazing for Hoffman they are cheep, give out Paralyzed (Even easier with the targeting upgrade), and are very tanky, They are becoming my go to minions for guild(I ordered 3 on Black Friday). As for the Guardian I feel like he is a bit too costly for what he does(Only 2 games though) and most of what he does is give out that 6 DF for Power loop. Hunters I want really hard to like but they have never worked out for me but I have always tried to use them as Flankers and runners. But I get the feeling they are better as support pieces. Oh and if you are going to play more Hoffman Langston is a must get. The crazy damage the nimble the getting him up to armor 2 and the instal kill trigger can be super deadly.

    TL:DR

    Drop

Remote mines for On Site Assimilation

Tessalation Magnet and Pieces of myself for anything else.

    Get Wardens and Langston

End of rant hope it helps.

  10. I have not played a lot of matches but these are some things I pull out cards for every match.

    1.Witchling stalkers

(I fell like this is the guilds go to minion 95% of the time good melee , good damage, and condition removal.)

    2.Riflemen

(They are a firing squad anything dumb enough to come in 14 of them is just dead all the time everytime)

    3.Fransisco

(You want a hard hitting melee molde that can reposion, buff someone, and heal with HtK he does that but you want 1 better he is a Hench so he use soulstones to. A little broken.)

    4.Lawyers

(Makes you models better with HtW and a + flip in horror duels. But wait there is more the power to make your oppent but unable to use or have to rethink how he uses his heavy hitter and poison on crows which you always have.Since no one in guild uses them.)

This one was the Hardset and there are a bunch of great runners up like ryle, brutal effigy, and hounds. But in the end I went with a model no else had picked.

    5.Wardens

(Cheep, tanky and versatile. For 6 stones you get a model with armor and the grinding halt trigger and a + flip on horror duels and a free ram on models that have activated. Also it paralyze enemy models and push modules out of turff war. The icing on the cake is his Guardsmen model so you can use Lucius is abilities with him and dash and rifleman.)
