Edit: Whoops

Yeah, combo's well with Woke up With a Hand, since that encourages you to activate him after the rest of your crew has milled through your deck for aces (and draws extra cards) and holding the aces for his activation makes Final Debt brutally hard hitting.
First off, I'm still very new at this game. But I'm liking Jakob and his crew a lot.
Secondly, could someone explain this to me? I like the idea of comboing these two together, but it relies on Jakob to go last to get those two extra cards. And generally if he's going last, I've used at least a couple cards as cheats by then, so it really feels like this upgrade is a wash to me.
So far, my 35ss crew is this:
Jakob
-Rising Sun
Huggy
-Addict
Beckoner
Illuminated
Illuminated
This leaves 11 left over, which I'm still toying around with. I thought about trying Teddy out at some point, he seems like he could work well in this crew.

I'm at the point where I want to dive in to Malifaux now. But I've run in to a bit of a problem. Three, really.
1) Should I wait for the new models to be released, or just buy the old ones? In some cases, I don't have a choice, because they are second wave models and just haven't been released yet. But for currently available ones, is it worth waiting?
2) Do most people advise sticking with a single faction? There are lots of Masters that I like, but not all from the same faction. For example, I like Hamelin, but I'm not crazy about any of the other Outcast Masters. I like Ironsides and Kaeris, but they aren't even out yet and none of the other Arcanists appeal to me. Does it pay to stick with one faction?
3) Are most of the factions pretty well balanced? For example, I like Pandora, but she and her crew rely a lot on Willpower duels and Terrify tests. And I know that, while not super common, there are some models/gangs that just flat out ignore Terrify tests. Doesn't that kind of limit her usefulness? Is that type of hard-counter prevalent everywhere?

So I'm very interested in starting Malifaux and/or getting my gaming group(s) involved in Malifaux. However, there are a couple things I'm not sure about.
1) I've been following Malifaux at a distance for awhile, and I know that 2nd edition is out now. Other than the core rulebook, are there any other rulebooks or sets that you need to play the game? I wasn't sure what all the "extra" rulebooks (the avatar stuff, Rising Powers, Twisted Fate, etc.) were for.
2) Given that 2nd edition is out now, are there any factions that aren't available to play? For example, I'm leaning towards playing the Neverborn faction. Can I just pick up any of the crews that interest me and be good to go for 2nd edition? Or are there some that still need rules for 2nd edition?

Where do you buy the buildings of Malifaux box? Far as I can tell, they don't make them anymore? I can't find a single place that sells them or has any in stock.
