  1. Best part about Mah is that she brought Trixy and Rojha into the faction with her.

You could argue that she's a kind of middle ground between Somer's control/support chicanery and Ophelia's raw killy, but tepid fence-straddling tends not to set the heart a flutter.

  2. Any model which can, from on high, flip a giant middle finger to the likes of Sonia, Molly, and Raspy without spending ap merits consideration. Throw the three minimum damage, some decent scheme running tech, an explosion clause, and can plant the red joker two cards from the top just for kicks and giggles.

  3. I think that's dangerous, as it could become a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. "Oh, you're playing the Master Justin said was broken?"

I catch enough flack for answering rules questions in a non-official capacity. And rightly so. It's hard to take things I say about Malifaux game mechanics as opinion, even though they are.

So I'm shamelessly ripping off a dead Frenchman, but here goes.

The image of gaming to be found in ordinary culture is tyrannically fixed on the dev, his person, his life, his tastes, his passions, while criticism still consists for the most part in saying that Justin's work is the failure of Justin the man, Ward his madness, Cruddace his vice. The explanation of a work is always sought in the man or woman who produced it, as if it were always in the end, through the more or less transparent allegory of fiction, the voice of a single person, the designer confiding in us.

  4. I like challenges and overcoming them as much as the next guy. I love discovering strong tactics and hilarious counters that fold them up like wet paper bags. I love dreamer turning to shreds in front of Sonia. I love Ikyro one-shoting pigapults. I love having half my crew trapped in a room as a new piece of blocking terrain falls infront of the only door. I love Nix laughing at Pandora. I love stopping prompted Coryphee from dancing together and watching as they both sac themselves. I love the humble bayou gremlin just not giving a damn about proper manners. The meta in this game is every bit as ridiculous as it is entertaining.

Thing is Moxy there's a decent number of people out there who don't share our refined pallet and tend to get a little, I think understandably, irritated when they figure out in media res that the basic principles of the game are getting turned on their head. I mean you cant blame them for acting on assumptions like 'things will die when I kill them,' or being upset when it doesn't work out that way.

  5. Levy isn't OP.

Is he hard to beat the first half dozen times? Yep.

Is it the fault of his rules if a person can't beat you tactically, and struggles to adapt to Leve's mechanics? No.

    He's not OP.

    Broken glass is not op.

Sure you have to crawl through it on your hands and knees a half a dozen times before you get the knack and deaden yourself to the pain.

I mean what's really at fault here, is it the sharp and splintery nature of the broken glass or just your soft, easily lacerated, and uncalloused skin?

Ok, got that out of my system.

Honestly I don't think Levi is op. He is a powerhouse but he is beatable. I think the issue here, if there is one, is that he can be unpleasant to come to terms with. Unfortunately that's not a balance issue and not something that can really be addressed through errata.

  6. It DOES seem like a problem to me that Ulix can trivially hand out more AP than masters that are designed to do literally nothing else, and that AP can go to models that are much deadlier than any Guild minion. Yes he's limited in the kind of AP he can hand out, but those are the only actions you really want his big pigs taking anyway.

I don't know, seems screwed up.

Ulix is a support master though. He buffs the crap out of pigs, that's his bag. Its what he was, fairly transparently, designed to do. He happens to be a really damn good support system for his relatively narrow group of models. I will admit that it is kind of weird that how good he is in this particular weight class, but being better than Lucius at this job shouldn't be out of the picture. Grems on the whole really excel at ap multiplication, hell with Zoroida and Brewy there are almost as many obey effects flying around here as in nb.

  7. Going to be starting a six week league with our shiny, new, in the process of being play tested rule set. Hideout rules will be in effect, mostly because they seem hilarious. For the sake of what passes for everybody's sanity wave three models will not be allowed. The campaign may be subject to the odd reworking of the rules from week to week but unless it gets completely turned on its head we won't be restarting it.

Play starts this Saturday on the 24th. So bring a badass posse, build a shwanky lair, and earn yourself some bragging rights.

Current rules can be found here: http://wyrd-games.ne...and-guidelines/

  8. Whilst wrought works of whimsy wreck vis-a-vis Wong?

On topic, yeah these match ups are an uphill battle for dreamer. They're also one of the things that holds him back just a little from frolicking through the meta like an unstoppable delightful juggernaut, so probably for the best.
