  1. Izamu is ridiculously good! If his attacks hit your opponent is stuck with an awesome damage track and a :+fate!

I do love the Valedictorian too though. She is not an outright damage dealer but she is so tough and has an awesome area of control with her Flight, Wk 6, :melee3, and the Lecture Notes (0) is really awesome for control. She also dishes out damage fairly well. Must be said with Necrotic Preparation an Unnerving Aura she is far better and Molly makes that even better.

  2. It means to stall a game. In a timed tournament that means that if the player initiating the loop can setup the victory points in his favour he can waste time until the game's time runs out. So it's kind of like a game of soccer when a team gets ahead and they just pass the ball around. Difference is the other team in that case can still intercept the ball so it's not a fan favourite but a legitimate tactic. In this case it means your opponent can do nothing while you are performing the Railwalk action. So I wouldn't say it's broken, just silly and a hilariously unsportsmanlike. I can't think of anyone really actually trying it if they have any sense of shame but probably due a FAQ/Errata to maybe say something like, "friendly Leaders which are not in base contact with this Scrap Marker target the Scrap Marker and with an Action gain +6 Ca for the duration of the Action."

  3. A Flesh Construct is good to have to Summon off of if you can get one. Otherwise that seems pretty solid! I would make sure the Ikiryo is the right size though. If not the Kirai avatar works well as a substitute. Izamu is also a great addition for the future.

  4. I agree with Fetid they are OK at best with Kirai. They are awesome with McMourning because they do get the extra attack bonus with a (1) Charge and they have the movement advantage over Izamu. But yeah in a Kirai crew they need a lot of baby sitting from Kirai or Datsue Ba.

  5. With Nicodem the models you have in your Summoning pool can make a huge difference. What can you Summon and how willing are you to splurge on new models? Hanged and Necropunks are very good with him, as is Toshiro. I agree with the above though you don't have to put Love Thy Master (Companion Upgrade) on Nico himself if Mortimer has a space open. I do like to put Corpse Bloat on Toshiro though, he can be healed by Nicodem. Having him and Mortimer generating Corpses makes Summoning way more efficient.

  6. None of the minions you have chosen have phenomenal damage without the saber and you only have one of those available. I would drop at least two of the minions you have chosen and take some ranged attackers instead, like Katanaka Snipers or Austringers.

I disagree about the damage. Rail Workers have a significant track. I like the idea of the Flurry Charge with the Glowing Sabre by the High River Monks but the crew does feel a little bit disjointed. I think it's worth trying it out and reporting back about where and if it feels lacking. I think the worry may be that the Rail Workers are slower than everyone else.

  7. He's kind of like The Captain but where he can beat face with that hammer of his, Yu adds a bunch of buff and support with some control thrown in. The Air Burst and Mighty Gust combo is really great though. 10" push and Fast on any model you choose for two 6's of any Suit. I have a feeling he is not going to like facing Masters with Obey though if Focus is stacked, of course. Imagine Perdita pushing herself an extra 5" without losing an action thanks to Wandering River Style.

  8. I disagree that Running Tab is a waste of points just on the basis that you are likely going to run him in scheme heavy games. So the ability to remove markers is pretty good anyway. I've not had many games with Brewie but from what I can see Fingers with Drinking Problem and Brewie himself are all you need to get his Drinking Contest working effectively. Wesley adds to that too but also the ability to bring Brewmaster back under the right circumstances.

Thinking Yu without Fermented Style is better actually. So he can benefit from his bonuses with Focus. He already gives out Poison so maybe Wandering River style to get Brewmaster to or from danger areas and give out fast while doing it.

  9. The Reactivate from Loyalty Unto Death is part of the reason why I love the Snipers with Misaki is that she is usually a calculated loss for your crew and ends up giving you a lot when she does go down. McCabe benefits less from this because he basically has a Hard to Kill in the middle of his wounds but he can gift them with Reactivate anyway which is pretty awesome!

  10. "Lead Singer: Crews led by this model may hire other Crossroads Seven models regardless of Faction. This model may be a Crew's Leader in 50 Soulstone size games and regardless of declared Faction so long as the Crew contains at least seven Crossroads Seven models."

This is what I am basing my knowledge off of. So was wondering if anyone had heard anything that would lead them to believe that this rule would no longer be the case is all. Was also putting this out there for any Wyrd employees in the know to perhaps shed light. :P

  11. Hey guys I remember trying out the Crossroads/Boondoggles in the Beta and complaining that they weren't a bonus cross-Faction crew. Reading the last Beta it seems to have been changed so that you can take the 7 regardless of declared faction. I was wondering if anyone knew or has heard about this being the case for the final release? I am considering getting the $60 box set from the Webstore at GenCon but would like to know about Factions before investing.

  12. they still do, and if Mounted McCabe dies, the re-activate condition still kicks in...........

If you Summon Dismounted McCabe that is not the case I don't think? McCabe is removed instead of being Killed or Sacrificed.

@OP 10T are pretty strong, generally speaking, against shooting. Lots of fast models to close down distance and engage models to prevent shooting. Lots of anti-shooting abilities e.g., Miskai and Lone Swordsman with their Bulletproof, Mei Feng's Vent Steam, high Df generally, and Torakage. They also have a bunch of ranged models that can out-range most other shooting. You just need to choose your flavour.

  13. If you are expecting to face Constructs then Metal Gamin are not as slow as you might think. For 4ss models they are also very tough to score off of.

I agree with what's been said above that playing models you know that are capable, if they aren't ideal, of completing objectives trumps models that you aren't comfortable/familiar with. I would say that you need to also keep in mind Master synergies and not kit out your crew with models that synergize poorly but are suited to schemes. Certainly taking some models for contingencies is a wise move but you'll never account for all of them and in trying to do so you are making it harder to play your game which makes it easier for the opponent to play theirs.

  14. Yeah I can definitely imagine that the Zombie Chihuahua would be a great asset in this. If he is grouping up his spiders you can run the little doggie in and dish out a large amount of Poison. Then, as is said above, have Sebastian around to take a significant amount of damage. McMourning ignores Armour so he seems like the natural choice here. Shikome also ignore armour so aren't a bad choice and with all the poison are pretty Action effecient. Evidence Tampering also seems like a good upgrade to steal away the Scheme Marker advantage. Also, the more models you can take out with Poison and Expunge the more models you have to deal with his Scheme runners so I don't think it would be a waste going after his Spiders with McMourning necessarily. Going for Paralyze on Ramos or Joss (who I assume helps him generate Scrap) with Nurses is not a bad idea either, he will rely on cards more than you do so going with a high card will put him in a tough position with Paralyze.

With Seamus though I reckon Terrifying is your friend. Facing Terrifying models is card intensive so fairly good against Summoning crews. Also, as mentioned above, Seamus is really good at getting across the board and also very good at killing. He's also not as worried about being pushed away by Ramos' Trigger because of his gun.

  15. Yeah but I don't own Gremlins and if I do use Fermented Monks I will be using Misdirection. :P The performer is also exchangeable for Chiaki if I find I need Condition removal at all. 2/4/6 Heal, what's not to like? I know I mentioned it in another thread but I am interested to try out Komainu with Brewie. Wp attacks for days, Bishop may not be the worst addition either.

P.S. I am so keen to try out Sensei Yu with like all the crews I have but extra (0) in a BM (hehe) crew is just amazing.

  16. Going to have my first game since beta tomorrow as I finally got the crew! I think Binge is going to be great against summoning crews. I also think with Misdirection it's going to straight up kick ass! I do like the idea of a Performer adding a Lure and getting models in close is going to be good less reliance on Obey. I think on paper I prefer Ferment River Monks to Moon Shinobi but I don't have the models so I will wait to try them out. I think because I am running two it also means I get to include Misdirection if I take Monks instead. I LOVE the Whiskey Golem on paper. Fast, survivable, and has an awesome damage track. He also spreads Poison around pretty great and that means everyone (except him) hits more easily in The Brewmaster's or Wesley's bubble. Just one thing from above Obey can't be used on Masters. Giving Swill to Shinobi is pretty great though.

The crew I am basing my stuff off of is this:

    Brewmaster
      Binge
      Running Tab

    Fingers

     Drinking "Problem"

    Whiskey Golem
      Angry Drunk

    Apprentice Wesley

    2 x Moon Shinobi

    Performer

  17. I tend to build crews beforehand. It's a personal choice but it makes sense to have an idea of how you will play a strategy before you flip it. I also think it's a great way to learn the playstyle, tactics, and limitations of the crew you are using when you flip a strategy you aren't as comfortable on. A crew that isn't necessarily geared out for Reckoning may surprise you and so on. Once you have played a crew a few times you'll find it starting to develop with the models you do and don't include for certain strategies and schemes but I still don't think it's a bad idea to design a Turf War crew or a Reckoning crew. Bear in mind that not every model needs to be killing and that sometimes even your killier models may be better used dropping scheme markers or interacting.

For the models you have I would suggest dropping Shang. Others may like him and you should try him to decide yourself but I would rather have the extra models to play around with. Ototo is a fantastic model. He isn't as slow as you might think, he hits really hard, and can absorb fair amount of damage. Ama No Zako is also a good heavy hitter but has the issue that she is only Ml 5 but much faster. Torakage are never a bad choice. Archers are very soft but are very good at killing so they work in those instances where you need to kill. I would suggest the Blot the Sky stuff above when you see a killing strat/scheme. Snipers are great all-rounders. I love Yamaziko too. With Braced Yari she is really a no-brainer against a Close Combat crew, she's cheap for a Henchman, she is fast for a granny, and will threaten an opponent's master more than you might think with her high damage and positives. Dawn Serpent hasn't performed for me but I know he has the potential to do amazing things though he is costly.

As to what you should get depends on which other masters you are interested in as was said above. However, general 10T I would Oiran are a great choice and even beter with Hidden Agenda. Fuhatsu with Recalled Training is terrifying and a great candidate for Blot the Sky or Hidden Agenda. 10T Brothers should be bought as soon as they are released as well as Tengu.

  18. I do agree that 10T Archers are great with her and Oiran are pretty solid objective runners though I would not count on their ability to Lure given the lack of a Crow. However, the two second wave Upgrades that benefit these guys REALLY benefit them. Blot The Sky gives Archers another attack or the chance to move and still shoot at opponents. Hidden Agenda makes the Oiran really, really amazingly good scheme runners who can take out other pretty solid scheme runners. With Focus on them Lure is more likely and with Fast they can activate as normal and still benefit from their Defensive +2 Ability.

Having mentioned 10T Archers, Oiran, and the Upgrades they have I would say that Fuhatsu is pretty much the IDEAL candidate to carry both. He is a shooter like the Archers so won't be hampered by staying back with them. He is also on a 50mm base and Ht 3 so he can hide the Archers but that height is better for Hidden Agenda because it means Oiran will have an easy time drawing LoS to him for their Fast and Focus. He is also pretty reliable for damaging so Hidden Agenda is nice on him. The only downside being that if you take both he can't take Recalled Training. So maybe taking one or the other is the best approach.

On Misaki herself, I personally don't like to use the Smoke and Shadows Upgrade with her in the crew as I like to hog all the Masks for Misdirection. Misaki likes Misdirection because she will be in the opponent's face early on and it is a massive drain on the opponent's resources and a way to keep her alive that little bit longer. I've found lately that spending points on crew and not upgrades suits her playstyle really well. Misdirection and Recalled Training have served me as well as Disguised or Stalking Bisento. There is some contention on this point but I feel she is really great with only her SS cache to use. One SS for sundry and the last one to burn for a Crow as you charge her in with Recalled Training positives and an auto-Assassinate Trigger to destroy the opponent's resources or models. Makes Misdirection even more effective. I've tried Disguised a couple times and to be honest it didn't impress as Misaki is likely going to be in combat most times any way and if she is in combat who is going to Charge her if she has Misdirection?

  19. I play predominantly 10T but my Resser collection is definitely starting to pick up. One thing I have noticed trying to play Ressers in a game is that there is a lot of potential for pressure to push an opponent into making mistakes. There's a lot to keep track of and make use of that you can turn that disadvantage around by applying pressure in the right areas. Usually that means threatening important models that keep the summoning factory alive and playing objectives simultaneously. This has been stated above in the comprehensive post by Fetid. So I'd rather focus on what is good at accomplishing that.

As was mentioned above, the Samurai can be a huge asset against Undead minion models and actually can mow down Summons as fast as they pop up if they aren't healed up. However, they have Wp 4 and that is pretty weak sauce if you are going after anything important as a huge amount of Resser biguns have Terrifying 12 or more. Obviously Kang is a great model to use against Undead for the reason that the Terrifying no longer matters and models become pretty effective against Undead with all the :+fate's. You don't need him though if you find, with him being slow, he doesn't suit the Strategy and Scheme Pool.

I love Misaki against Summoners in general. With Assassinate she can get rid of cards QUICK and with her Diving Charge of 8 she can get in and out of combat really quick like. Throw Misdirection on top of that and trying to get rid of her wastes resources the Summoner will need to play effectively. That means the rest of your crew can actually go about accomplishing objectives. There's a great chance Misaki will die but there's almost no way she won't go down without dealing some serious damage around important models. Mei Feng is also a great Master for dealing with ressers not just because Kang fits in with her crew more seamlessly but also because she has Thunderous Smash that can remove Scrap, Scheme, and Corpse Markers with a Trigger. She's also got the ability to hand out a significant amount of damage in large groups meaning she loves charging into large groups. Obviously that means Misdirection works well with her. So, is great for holding up multiple models to allow the rest of your crew go about their business.

I'm begining to go on a bit much but those particular Masters are great at applying pressure where it hurts and quickly. Other strategies that work are to simply be quicker than your opponent around the table as well as being tough to hit. Tengu, Monks, 10T Brothers, and Torakage all work here.

  20. I agree that some more upgrades wouldn't go amiss. I do like is that none of his normal upgrades are autotakes so it allows for use of faction upgrades or a master that doesn't soak up points. However, maybe it would be nice to get some normal upgrades that give him and his Ancestors a boost passively.
