  1. Hi all I need some help.

It looks as though I've managed to mix up the different size nozzles/needles. Any idea how I can tell what sizes the needles are (should be 2x3mm and 2x2mm - already spotted which the 5mm ones are) and which nozzles go with them? These are cheap unbranded brushes/parts so completely unmarked. I have a set of digital calipers, but at which point do i take a measurement from?.. The main body of each needle is the same diameter

    Thanks!

Augments oddly (or purposely) are both on page 178 of Into the Steam and Fated Almanac.  Into the Steam has a more detail selection and specifically calls out augments.  In the Fated Almanac, they are listed under the limbs, being Piston Driver, Military Brace, Steam Coils and Trade Custom.

Ohhhhhh.... The penny just dropped, thanks both, I had thought that those were types of limbs to purchase (for some reason) rather than the additions (augments) to limbs which were available.

I feel daft for missing it, but enlightened, thanks again :)

  3. Hi guys

I've spent my lunch trawling the rulebook, making sure my new character is up to snuff, and he has artefacting, is a Darlin Theorist & Tinkerer.

I know I am able to craft a full pneumatic limb (25scrip) at 25% of guild prices (6.25 scrip) and that a full limb includes 2 augments. Great, I'm up to speed so far. However, I can't for the life in me find where I choose augments from?

Can someone please give me a page reference for where I select/read up on augments please, or alternatively please enlighten me as to where I went wrong?

    Thanks in advance :)

  4. Thanks :)

I'm really enjoying painting them after the initial sinking feeling when I realised they were the translucent set. I've painted all the bikes with a mix of black and the darkest GW metallic, but I think what I should have done is maybe highlight up from straight black... I washed the base coat with black, and will come up through some darker metallics and see how it looks at any rate

    Cheers

I recently (just finished about 20 minutes ago actually) made poker size reference cards for all of the Magia and Immuto in The Fated Almanac, Into the Steam, and Under Quarantine books for my players to use.  I always found the magic reference cards very useful for DnD; and with the relatively greater complexity of TtB's magic system I figure they would be a valuable asset to Fated and Fatemaster alike.  I would love to share them here; however I would like to make sure that wouldn't violate copyright or what-have-you since they are literal word for word transcriptions from the books.  Would it be acceptable to share these?

No, but we're hoping to have an offering like this soon.

I guess the official Magic & Immuto cards won't make it into the wild since the 2.0 announcement?
Is it still unacceptable for @GummyGator to share his version?

    Thanks

Hey quick question - is the "joss" + statcard open for sale too?^^ I dont want to have Ramos.. because I play Toni Ironsides, but Joss would be nice to have.. With Miss Step I already own an alternate Howard, so less need to get the complete box^^

    Hi

Unfortunately not, I bought the Ramos box for everything except Ramos to use with Hoffman.

    Thanks

@Loftybloke thanks for that - I guess that forewarned is forearmed so I'll bear your observations in mind when the sprue cutters finally come out...great looking models once complete I am still convinced they are worth all this effort...and more ;)

The other bikers is a bit of a nightmare. It seems the kit would never ever make a full circle... there's either an 1/8th inch gap at the top of the wheel or (as I did) it isn't quite circular when you just glue all the ends together :( handlebars are pretty much free-floating on mine in order to glue the wrist to the hand, I see gmort had the luxury of bending the arm to fit on the regular kits though

    Challenging...

Good luck and please post any pertinent info you gather along the way as I keep picking up the Doughnuts of Death and then putting them to the back of the queue

I've just put together Pati Ramone, and I just have to reiterate what is on Gmorts blog on the subject, and that's the alignments of the hand/gear stick device. I ended up making the rider completely, after gluing the seat back to the wheel. Then I glue the base to the bottom of the rider, and glued that to the seat back.

Unfortunately i missed out the gear stick assembly completely and had to wiggle this into place behind all the glued pieces. Getting the arm between the shoulder and the hand took a lot of fussing around while multiple glue points were wet, so you might have to persevere with this :( sorry

  9. I managed to snag myself a Nightmare McCabe crew from a trading group on Facebook! However after opening it up in a mad rush of excitement, it was the transparent set... After having paid Import fees and postage etc I decided it wasn't worth arguing with the seller and Paypal for refunds, and to just get on with it.

I asked in a few places for advice about the brittle plastics etc and got the same feedback: Yes it's brittle but isn't glass, & if you're painting it anyway, prime on the sprue to make it easier to see the attachment points etc.

Fast forward after a weekend away, and I've assembled the dismounted Rollins, and primed the other frames :)

@Loftybloke I am in the same position as you...to be fair it's a bit daunting because the plastic has no real give to speak of...I started by assembling Cherry Bomb to get a bit of a feel for it and will be hitting the sprues with black primer to help with the rest....I've also been clipping off pieces of the sprue to practice shaving seam lines and glueing.

There is a very useful article by @GMort here on the forum in his "unboxing Malifaux" series where he specifically mentions some of the trickier aspects of assembly....I think slowly but surely is the best approach...Building up the base so that the model doesn't get handled directly will be my way to hopefully avoid damage

Good luck and please post any pertinent info you gather along the way as I keep picking up the Doughnuts of Death and then putting them to the back of the queue

I've just been outside to dust the sprues with black primer, and it has helped far more that I thought it would. The primer (Games workshop Chaos Black) adhered fine, and allowed me to see one side of detail at once  Whilst the plastic type is a bit more brittle, dismounted Rollins' chain has a lot more give than I would expect. Once assembled i gave it a few unfriendly shoves to simulate clumsy gameplay and it was fine. I was expecting it to snap at the hand and I would replace it with guitar wire at a push but no need :) I'll update progress on my guild thread  but I've included photos below to show the primed sprues

There's a lot of close-ups in the article that might help...not translucent but the assembly issues are identical for the most part...

I always open your blog before unboxing my stuff to see what I need to be aware of :) Thanks for all the content mate. You should get a Patreon pledge in my opinion, as your guides have saved me a couple of times!

  11. I recently managed to get hold of the Wild Ones box. On opening it however I see that it's translucent (the seller apparently had no idea either). I wouldn't have bought it if i'd known this as I'm wanting to paint and use it normally.

So far I've found that the plastic is a lot more brittle than the regular grey plastic & I'm finding it difficult to line up small attachment points as I can't see very well where they should meet. I'm going to dust the rest of the frames with grey primer to help with this, but I wondered if anyone had any tips on assembling translucent crews with very fine (snappable) parts?

Thanks in advance, I'm currently very worried after spending this much on a limited crew (plus customs fees) that I'm just going to end up snapping bits off whilst gaming with the models.

Drufesene doesn't have a chronicles story (someone said she appears in a TtB product though). The story from Chronicles 12 that feature Barbaros and Bishop uses the same art for a character called Imogene Wyatt.

Huh. The image at the start of the story is that of the Dufresne art, which is probably where I made the association from. My bad
