I wanted to make sure we played this right, but Kaeris' Immolate spell has a WP resist, so any model with stubborn targeted gets +2WP right?

Hey all, I'm newer to Malifaux and recently got my buddy playing. I've picked up Kaeris and he got Von Schill. We played via Skype last night at 25SS. I'm running into a few issues with the friekorps armor and getting through it. The gunsmiths ignore armor rounds have been helpful, but am I correct in my understanding that leadstorm and Kaeris' Accelerant will not affect them since they can ignore damage from pulse, blasts and auras? It's really put a damper on my crew and I think I'm going to have to drop the fire Gamin and switch to a Ramos lead crew and Maybe even reconsider having Kaeris in the crew at all Any thoughts?

Granted I'm very new to Malifaux (re:I bought the Kaeris box because she's an amazing model and am now trying to flesh out the crew with Ramos), but I don't understand the reasoning behind using overheat on the spider when you could use ignite. Overheat seems like a waste of AP when you could auto trigger with ignite and get a second shot off for free. Words of wisdom are much appreciated. (I got my teeth kicked in by Leveticus in one game last week, but managed to squeak out a 5-4 victory over him in the second game)
