  1. I was just poking around for a possible reason my order remains in limbo and considering I had the MPMs in there this must be it. That's too bad about them, but I'm glad to know what's going on. The Johanna is an excellent touch, I really appreciate it.

    Thanks, Aaron!

    Edit:

What if somebody was going to get Miss Ery but doesnt break $100 due to the refund of the Male MPM?  Will they still recieve a Miss model or not?

Good question, Lupercal. I am also in the same situation and would like to know.

  2. I've heard talk of people taking 4 December Acolytes in a 50ss game. *shudders*

Working on my Rasputina crew and noticed mention of December AcolyteS.  Is this a model I'll want more than one of when I finally get around to playing?

I know that some models come packaged 2 or 3 together (gamin) which I take to mean that there is some form of synergy from having the multiples.  Others come packaged as singles which I was taking to  mean you would likely need/want only one.  But as I catch up on my reading it looks like I might want 2-3 of models that are packaged as singles.

    Am I thinking right?

If I am, sounds like Dec. Acolyte is a model I should double up on.  Any others?

It sounds like you're looking at the old metal December Acolyte. It's a nice model, but they are now available in plastic and come in a pack of 3. It always bugged me there was only a single sculpt, but now there are four different ones! If you want some Acolytes I'd recommend just picking up the 3-pack.

  3. Well, typically when you start a faction your first few crews will be from that faction. This increases your available model pool so you can respond better to different scenarios. You will limit yourself by branching to a new faction so soon.

That said, my two favorite of the Neverborn masters are Pandora and the Dreamer. The former might be the better choice if you want a different play style as the Dreamer is a summoner like Nicodem (albeit he goes about it differently). I'd say pick up Pandora's box (hah) and a Teddy. If you want a few more models, Insidious Madness, Iggy, Beckoners, and Waldgeists are all good buys.

  4. Well, I am pleasantly surprised by that Chompy Bits. The Dreamer art teaser we got a while back had me all sorts of flustered, but it seems Wyrd has delivered exactly what I wanted after all!

I'm liking just about everything that will be available. I wonder what I'll pick up...

  5. I've already stopped using this one. Not pretty or intuitive enough. Very fiddly to do anything.

Would be great with stats, but without it is inferior to Crouchingmoose's offering. Even then? Hmm...

I found this app to be more intuitive than Crouchingmoose's. It is certainly not as aesthetically pleasing, but I think it takes much better advantage of gestures and works better with the touch screen interface.

  6. I posted this in the other mobile app thread, but I would love to see something like Warroom come out for Malifaux (just less buggy). I would happily drop cash on card decks, just for convenience of having access to those cards whenever I wanted

If it makes any difference in the discussion, while I like free apps, if this became a paid for app, if the price was right, I'd pick it up for the convenience of having everything at my finger tips without having to carry all the stuff to a game when I can use the tablet.

I'd pay for the app and the cards all over again (already have all physical decks). The convenience of having everything digital on a phone/tablet would be worth quite a bit.

As I personally have the option of unchecking that 'Lock Rules' Setting (small perk that I have :P) I know that it is immensely useful to have the rules at your fingertips; both for gameplay and when random list-building ideas strike and you want to quickly look up the rules of a certain card.

    This fills me with rage!

I'll have to give multi-pane a try. I've mostly been using the app on my phone, but I do have a tablet I can test it on.

I thought of some new ideas for features:

    1. Would it be easy to add a sort of calculator? This sounds pretty metagamey, but I'd like to know things like average Df, Wp, etc. for my crew. Hell, I'd like to know the averages for the whole range of units in the game.
    2. We can currently filter by name, rules, characteristics, and faction, but what about stats? Is it possible to add the ability to filter everything but Df6, for example?
  7. Check out the other app thread here, critterkiller32 says adding rules is on hold for now. It's an ongoing discussion, hopefully one that will bear fruit sometime in the near future. With Gencon on the horizon, though, I don't expect anything until the Fall at the earliest.

  8. It looks like the full rules for Wave 1 & Wave 2 cards will remain locked for the time being. I'll be able to open up the Beta rules when testing for that starts up again in September.

I didn't expect this to happen anytime soon and I'm glad it hasn't been taken off the table. Is it possible such discussion may resume around the time the beta returns? I'm sure you probably don't know much, I just like to keep fresh the point that there are people who really want something like this to come to life and that Wyrd should never forget about it!

In the meantime, what do you guys think about how the essentially blank detail cards are handled now? The only additional data the popups contain are the base size. Would people prefer if a dialog did not pop up when clicked (assuming most clicks now are accidental since there's nothing interesting inside)? I could have it do nothing when clicked, or just show a small Toast that acknowledges the click but otherwise doesn't impact whatever you were previously doing. Or I could make another Setting to control this if people feel differently.

And for the multi-pane view, what would you want shown in the 2nd pane. Just get rid of it for the time being?

It's probably best that the popups be disabled for now. I see no point to having them open by accident when there is no use for them opening in the first place.

I must have missed something, what is the multi-pane view?

  9. From Wikipedia:

"An estate sale or estate liquidation is a sale or auction to dispose of a substantial portion of the materials owned by a person who is recently deceased or who must dispose of his or her personal property to facilitate a move."

Hah, yes, I know what an estate sale is. I meant I do not know the details as to how large a monetary hole needs to be filled or how it will impact the finalization of the terrain project.

Maybe you could point out what the "pre" indicates in the context of an estate sale, though. Does that just mean it's a smaller sale?

  10. It sounds like the project has gone well over budget, too. In another response a pre-estate sale was mentioned. What, exactly, this means I do not know, but it is nice to see something may come of this yet.

It was all so exciting when this first began. A whole western town for $100?! Honestly, we probably should've known better, but what if we actually get it now?

  11. I would add that "putting the stats online" is not the same as "putting the cards online."

This is very true. We all have easy access to the wave 2 files, but my friends and I cannot wait to buy the arsenal packs so we have the cards.

That said, releasing the rules in app format would kill my interest in buying cards. Critterkiller32's app would be all that I'd use at the table if it had the rules in it. In this case, digital packs might be something to look into.

Directly regarding the topic of this thread, I cannot see how arsenal packs and/or lack of all the stats online constitutes a rip-off. I can certainly see how a brand new player lacking guidance from someone more experienced might unwittingly buy a box with 1.5 cards in it and be a little miffed, but it's not like other minis games don't see similar fluctuations and issues with old product vs new rules. Anyone with minis experience should understand that they need to seek advice before jumping in. In addition, the cost of the packs is pretty minuscule. I believe Wyrd even said during the wave 1 beta that they'd be selling the packs near cost to relive some of the burden 1.5 players had to bear going into a new edition.
