  1. Hi all

I am organising a Malifaux League to be run at 7th Heaven Crafters' Paradise in Salisbury from 03/10/2012 for a total of 12 weeks. It's a hobby league, starting with each player using one of the basic box sets and 20 Soul Stones worth of models. Every other week five Soul Stones will be added to the total, until week 11 when we are playing games of 50 Soul Stones each.

Points will be awarded for turning up, playing, and most importantly - painting. There will be more points in this league for showing up to each game with a newly painted model than there will for playing the game, simply to encourage players to get into the hobby and expand their crews as the game goes on. You can play with pre-painted crews, but you won't get as many points.

More details as we get closer, but please pop in to 7th Heaven or send me a PM if you want to find out about the finer points.

    Cheers

    Matthew

  2. Hi all

The Salisbury Wargaming Order (recently moved from The Chough to the Sarum Cycling Social Club) will be hosting a Malifaux Demo Evening on 01/10/2012 from 19:00 until late. All are welcome to attend, no matter the level of experience.

If you have any specific queries please send me a PM or reply to this thread!

    Thanks

    Matthew

  3. I have a quick question about the Repulsive spell. On Pullmyfinger it describes Repulsive as an excellent way of disengaging from melee with an opponent, but wouldn't you need to disengage in order to cast it anyway? So if you were being flanked by two giant mosquitoes (as I found myself yesterday) you'd still need to disengage from the both of them in order to cast the spell that would push them back?

  4. Hello all!

In order to appease some hungry Malifaux players and cater to the various times during which they are free, I will be organising at least two tournament events at 7th Heaven in Salisbury using the Dead Heat campaign rules and effects. There will be more dependent on who is free on what dates.

The first tournament session will be on 15/08/2012 and the second will be on 18/08/2012. Please send me a message or visit our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/events/421535477897461/ and sign up!

    Cheers

In addition, it's encouraged that you use new crews as we're having a painting competition as part of the tournament!

  5. 1.) Dead Rider - Dragging Samael Hopkins down the map into the loving arms of McMourning is always great fun.

2.) Hanged - Whisper from Beyond is such a nasty spell, not the mention that it's one of the rare minions I focus on terrifying my opponents with.

3.) Samurai-Punk Zombies - I've not used them much lately and it's a shame because I like these guys. Horrific on the offence and resilient as well, they go nicely when bolstered by a Master like Nico or pumped full of drugs by a Nurse.

4.) Grave Spirit - I really like the model and it's just a cheap, useful totem with the added bonus of being a spirit.

5.) Rogue Necromancy - Another case where I particularly like the sculpt (although it could be bigger). The key thing for Rogue Necromancy for me (aside from the obvious summoning it later in the game) is that it has one thing that a lot of Resurrectionist models lack; range.

  6. Greetings all!

I've recently become a Hench for Wyrd and will be running a Malifaux Demo Day in 7th Heaven Crafters' Paradise in Salisbury, on Saturday 28th July 2012. This will be an all day event and we expect to have a few tables set up in order to allow people to view as well as play the game of Malifaux.

Your support and attendance is requested and welcomed! Any questions, please post below.

The facebook event page is here: http://www.facebook.com/events/425574274151889/

Feel free to message me on there or on here if you would like to know anything further!

    Thanks

  7. Kirai is the key to Kirai in my experience. What I mean is she is the lynch pin of her army. Allowing for great mobility & bonuses. Whether through healing, insane mobility, boots to Cb (Seishin) or debuffs to your stuff Kirai is very much a support master to her army & removing her will severely limit it's effectiveness. Note I said limit not cripple, the spirits are a pain enough on their own.

When Kirai dies, if lost love is in play, she instead remains in play with 4 Wds & becomes a spirit until the end of the game. To this end I find it advantageous to kill the lost love if possible. Also if she takes non spirits (Dead rider, Von Schill) lost love can make them spirits until the end of the game.

With most of her stuff being spirits spells are your best offense especially without any magic weapons. Use these to target things she CAN'T summon. Night Terrors, Datsue-Ba, Hanged. This will put her at a disadvantage by removing any capability those models brought permanently where as if you take out an Onryo she will just summon a new one. This is not to say non magical attacks are useless, just that magic attacks are extra punishing.

Take a rogue Necromancy as well. His acid breath will work as a great deterrent against kirai coming close. Kirai can pass any hit she takes to a seishin in base contact this is where Acid breath works to your advantage. As it is a spell spirit provides no bonus against it, it also deals blasts which will take out her seishin. Alternatively kirai may choose to keep her seishin safe leaving her vulnerable to attack.

If you can kill a spirit with dissect I would do so. Remember they do not drop any corpse counters so you will need to generate your own body part counters.

Finally, Memorize this mantra: See Shikome. Kill Shikome.

EDIT: Also may I ask where this will be? My local group has a tournament on Saturday & we have a notable Kirai player as well. :)

We're in the UK and as far as I know we've got no New Yorkers in our group! Looks like Kirai's popularity traverses oceans.

Unfortunately Rogue Necromancy won't be an option for me as I don't own the miniature. Likewise for McMourning's Chihuahua.

A shame spirits don't drop body parts / corpse counters! My major strength has been nullified...

  8. Hi all!

I'm due to be participating in my first Malifaux tournament on Saturday, and while I don't know which miniatures most of the players will be using, I do know one guy uses Kirai extensively.

I have the McMourning set, the Nicodem set, four canine remains, three necropunks and three mindless zombies. All are now painted and ready to play, so I'm keen to see your excellent advices on how best to combat Kirai with McMourning as my master.

    Cheers!
