    50ss Tournament

    Three rounds, with awards for 1st place, Most donations, Best Painted, and for Fellowship players.
    Strategy and Scheme pools to be announced December 1st You may build different lists for each round based upon the strategies and scheme pools for each round, but you must stay within your faction, and each list must be built before the start of the event. You may bring up to five lists to use for the event, and choose which you use at the beginning of each round after declaring factions with your opponents.

    Cheats!
    Food Donations in excess of the entry fee will be transferred on a 1:1 basis for Chips that can be used to purchase various "cheats". The following cheats will be available:

    -Barter flips
    - Every player will be allowed two barter flips on the Campaign table (Pg 16-17, Shifting Loyalties)
    - 6 Chips may be spent for a cheat hand of two cards for your barter flips.
    - 10 chips may be spent after the initial flips for one additional flip.
    - 2 chips per flip may be spent to alter the flipped value by +/- one.
    - Chips may be used as "Scrip" to cover the campaign cost of the Skills/Equipment you wish to purchase. Soulstone costs for these skills/equipment will still need to be covered by your build, and you cannot exceed 50ss as a result of these purchases. You may make adjustments and allowances for this cost during barter flip time. Consider allowing yourself a few soulstones to play with to allow for your gains.
    - "Those who Thirst" Will not be available through barter flips. Instead, Players that flip the red Joker for Barter flip may treat it as a wild card. Players that wish to have a "TWT" item may forego one barter flip and instead bid against others that are after them. This will be handled through a series of "Blind Bids" Where each bidder will bid a secret number of chips. The one that bids the most will receive the item. No player may acquire more than one TWT item. If you lose the bid, you keep the chips you bid and may bid on the next item.

    -Scheming
    Two chips per round may be used to add a scheme of your choice to the scheme pool for the round.

    -Soulstones
    Two chips per soulstone may be used at the start of each round to add soulstones to your pool, to a maximum of 8 soulstones as normal. This total may exceed the 50ss limit, to a maximum of 53ss.

    -Reflip Deployment
    Two chips per Round may be used to call for a reflip of your deployment flip. Each player may use this a cheat once per round and must both declare their intent to use it after the first flip, but before any reflips are made.

    "White Cerberus" (Optional)
    Additionally, we will host a Malifaux "White Elephant" Gift exchange after the tournament. If you would like to participate, bring one new, unopened Malifaux item of recommended value $10-$20 that is wrapped/bagged/obscured. All participants will get a chance to pick and open an item and can then choose to trade for other opened items. We will be sneaking something special into one of the packages.

    50ss Gaining grounds tournament.  Sunday September 4th, 2016, 9:30am, Tacticon Miniatures room

    Three rounds of 2 hours each using 2016 Gaining grounds rules structure. There will be a ten minute setup time for each round.

    Each player may bring up to Five (5) crew lists from the same declared Faction to use during the event. These can be on separate sheets or consolidated. Each player should have at least two copies of these lists.  One to turn in to the judge, and one to show to their opponents. These lists must be typed or in legible handwriting, and should be completed with the Judge copy turned in prior to 10:20am on the day of the event. Strategies and Schemes are announced early to help with list selection. Each round, you may choose the list you wish to use after you have discovered which faction your opponent has declared. Players will choose their lists secretly each round and reveal them during step 6 of setup as usual.

    Round one: Guard the Stash, Corner Deployment

    Round one schemes: Convict Labor, Covert Breakthrough, Exhaust their forces, Occupy their Turf, Hunting Party

    Round two: Interference, Standard Deployment

    Round two schemes: Convict Labor, Show of Force, Leave your Mark, Public Demonstration, Catch and Release

    Round three: Extraction, Flank Deployment

    Round three schemes: Convict Labor, Take Prisoner, Exhaust their forces, Undercover Entourage, Mark for Death

    Late Arrivals: Registration is from 10:00am to 10:20am. Players who are not completely registered with their lists submitted before 10:20am are considered late and will be handled as follows:

    -          Late players will only be added to the event if there are is a bye without the late player. If there is time in the current round, they may be added to the event and will be paired with the bye  player. If there is not enough time in the round, the late player will be scored for a late bye (treated as a loss for scoring (0 TP, 5 VP, 5 Differential)

    -          If it is round two or later, a player may play as the “Ringer” for bye games if they wish. They may not place in the event.

    -          If adding a late player would create a bye situation, they will not be allowed to enter the event unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

    A disengaging strike only occurs when a model, within the engagement range of an enemy model, declares a walk action that will remove the model from the enemy's engagement range. The disengaging strike can then be taken, and if successful, the declared action is cancelled and the Ap wasted.

    The practical upshot of this is that if you have a fast enough wk stat, you can enter and leave as many enemy engagement ranges as you want, without triggering any disengaging strikes. It also means that if you are engaged by an enemy model you may reposition freely via the walk action within their engagement range, as long as you never leave it. When you activate and declare the walk action you must state the. And there whether the action will result in leaving the engagement range. You cannot change your mind later because the strike happens at the moment you declare the wk action, not when you would actually leave the engagement range.

    No, there's no disengaging strike unless a model begins its move in the engagement range and is attempting to end its move outside of the engagement range. One thing to keep an eye on however, is that there is no 'double move' action. In a situation you've described above, if the model is using both action points to move, ensure that each walk action is resolved separately.

  5. I swear I saw a discussion on this somewhere, but don't see it anymore. Seems to be a lot of division on this one and we would be grateful for some help and understanding:

    If a model begins it's activation outside of engagement and uses a single move action to pass through and out the other side of an enemy model's engagement range, would the enemy get a disengaging strike?

    •    Battle Reports: The following guidelines are used for battle reports:
    o    Should be about a page in length
    o    Should describe the crews playing
    o    Should describe the important moments of each turn of the game
    o    Should describe how the winning player was successful
    o    Can contain pictures (Counts for picture activity)

    •    Editorial/Art/Fan fiction/Instruction: The following guidelines are used:
    o    Should relate to your crew or faction
    o    Editorial – Describe your experience in the league and the choices you made for building/painting/playing etc.  Posted to the Store forums prior to the end of the league
    o    Art – An original piece of art in any suitable format or type. Draw, paint, build, sculpt, etc. Posted to the Store forums prior to the end of the league
    o    Fan fiction – An original piece of fluff or fiction, about a page in length, posted to the Store forums prior to the end of the league.
    o    Instruction – An instructional document for new players regarding your activities for the league, posted to the store forums prior to the end of the league. Your strategies, painting techniques, How you built your display board, etc.
    •    Best Painted:
    o    Crew must be fully painted and based.
    o    Popular vote informs judges, and contributes to overall score, but does not decide it
    o    Paint job, colors, techniques, blending, basing, display, and conversions are considered.
    •    Best Fellowship:
    o    Popular vote informs judges, and contributes to overall score, but does not decide it.  Votes come from opponents you play. Additional considerations for outstanding fellowship activities.
    o    League behavior, win/loss, crew theme, and overall participation are considered.
    •    Best Reporter:
    o    Popular vote informs judges, and contributes to overall score, but does not decide it
    o    Total quantity and quality of activities is considered.
