  1. What is Wyrd's view on the scale issues?
  2. Thanks for the replies. I am not too concerned about being synergy between masters and crew. I used to have quite an extensive collection of models for Malifaux. Is Ramos a one-trick pony in that he summons spiders then sends them to do his bidding or blow them up as bombs? Either them or the Electric Creations he can do for "free"? Same with Raspy - one trick pony in the sense of December's Curse. Choosing a master is always tricky!
  3. I am considering getting either of the sets above to get me back on the road to Malifaux. These are the Wave 1 masters that really have appeal to me (Wave 2 I am spoilt for choice!). However, what are the pro's / con's of each? What are the play styles of each - I know Raspi is a range blaster with ice mirror shenanigans whilst Ramos is a summoner with exploding creations. Are the "out of the box" crews good enough to field as they are? Raspi from experience tends to be fragile and if a player targets the relatively weak ice mirrors then she is forced into the open and will die quickly. Ramos - I am concerned about availability of scrap counters to get him going. He can have lots of constructs but IF he can summon them. Can he do ranged "blasting" well? How do they fair against other masters?
  4. Don't get me wrong, the new plastic models are fab! Great detail, great quality and such. Wyrd have done a great job. However, having a crew of mis-matched scales and hanging off bases sort of ruin the overall look in my opinion. The base is sort of the finishing part of the model and needs to be at the same quality as the model itself.
  5. Using other company's models can still have size issues. Depends really on how bothered you are by that. Personally, it bothers me in so far as I like the models in one crew to have the same scale so at least they look "crew like". Lets say you did decide to base on a larger base, what effect would that have on the game?
  6. Does base size no longer determine the number of counters dropped when a model is killed? If I recall, in 1.5E; 30mm = 1; 40mm = 2; 50mm = 3 Is it now 1 across the board?
  7. Hello, Reading the posts, it seems there are some concerns over the sizes of models. Cojo has been resized, the Brass Arachnid seems to be causing some people issues with fitting on the base, and also hear that the Wave 2 models may have been produced at the "wrong scale" and so overly large in comparison to other models. Whilst this makes no difference in terms of play, it does bother me that the crews will look aesthetically a bit weird with different scales and such. Also, with the rules as they are, base size is highly important and so we don't have the option of fitting models onto a more appropriate base size. Creating larger scenic bases to compensate seems contradictory and won't solve the issue either. So is all the above true? Any comments?
  8. Is it possible to download these like the Wave 2 ones? If so, where do I get them?
  9. How easy is it to now generate say corpse or scrap counters? In my limited 1.5E experience, I always had issues generating enough counters to be useful when playing Nicodem or such. Also, vs someone like Lady J, it was pretty pointless and might as well quit the game before starting.
  10. Significantly so? Yan Lo's model is ok, but the right hand (splayed out one) looks a bit weird... fingers are too long... I was thinking of using: http://www.bushido-thegame.com/sites/default/files/styles/uc_product_full/public/coystartersetpromo.jpg?itok=Zr87NKMg Main person as Yan Lo... then either 3 "punk" zombie samurai / ashigaru and a Onryu/Oiran Conversion of the main bloke - take off the puppet (give to Zoraida!) - maybe a sword or polearm/staff. The ghost on his back would be an ancestor talking to him. The OCD part of me dislikes mixing up scales...... What do you think? Feasible?
  11. Hello all, Got the Malifaux bug again (damn you Wyrd! for being so good!). But this time I am thinking of trying out the 10 Thunders faction, specifically Yan Lo. However, his model doesn't inspire me as much as his fluff and current concept in terms of stats. I do like most of the other 10T models though. I have been looking at Bushido and Helldorado for ideas but not sure how they compare in size and/or style to Wyrd. Would they fit or fit with some conversion or just not suitable? What about the models that are not released yet like the: gatling gun samurai drake Fuhatsu among others.... Any ideas?
  12. Wave 1 masters don't really entice me at the moment.... maybe Tara but the model is a bit odd. Gremlins look interesting but not sure about how they synergise.... Wong sounds good. Brewmaster sounds humorous. Leveticus always caught my attention but again the model was a bit poop. Trying to find alternatives... but its a long wait until the new box set is released. Does Leveticus still play similar to 1.5E? Any ideas for suitable model? Edit: Gah! The more I read then the more I get indecisive about the master I would want to try out. Used to have Zoraida and Hamelin. Zoraida sort of lost her appeal and Hamelin seems too reliant on blight counters to work effectively. My experience is that anything that relies on counters to be in place is a bad thing.... So far, I am thinking: Wong Leveticus Yan Lo Brewmaster Ramos Any advice on any of the above? Tactics / crew synergy.... etc.
  13. Used to play 1.5 ed a while back but now 2.0E has got me hooked again. Plus the LGC has a few Malifaux players starting up as well. I've read through the rules for 2.0E and get the gist of what the changes are. However, now I am not sure what master to get. Trying to trawl through the forums isn't really helpful as its mainly commentary of the changes, rather than an overview of what the master does and how they synchronise with the crew. Pullmyfinger was my usual haunt but that has no info on it. Is there a general overview of the masters/etc?
  14. Hello, Returning to Malifaux but got a few questions: 1) Where are the rules for the masters - Leveticus and Hamelin? 2) Now the rules have changed I am not sure what Master to collect... is there somewhere I can get an overview on their playstyles and such? Still prefer ranged over melee.... My thoughts thus far just based on looks/fluff: Leveticus Ramos Hamelin Nicodem - never got enough corpse counters though so low likelihood Hoffman 3) Is Pullmyfinger no longer in use? I looked on there and its pretty much blank for 2.0E....
  15. This +1. Rats don't generate anything else, other than other rats if within VR aura. No SPA's, no corpse counters, no nothing. Sacrificing them is the only way of stopping them coming back which is why they don't make the best options for Hamelin to sacrifice for his spells/abilities. Just means against Leveticus, the inevitable swarm of rats is rather less inevitable..... and vice versa for the SPA's.
  16. If only... then you could do the R.A.T (Ratty-Awesome-Triangle Manouvuer aka R.A.T). Put 2 Rat catchers and Hamelin in a triangle, all 6 inches apart and put as many rats inside the triangle.... slaughter the rats and each rat spawns three! Death by thousand rats literally!
  17. Might try Zoraida + Collodi + Widow-Weaver...... doll glory! Not sure who would be the best Obey target, since Teddy is not eligible.... Could take Brutal I guess, as his is pretty useful.
  18. Does anyone have any preference for a make of paint? I know Citadel paints are probably the most ubiquitous but what are P3 or Vallejo paints like? Like most things, I have heard good and bad reviews on them, comparison to GW paints. Anything else you recommend. I know there are various acrylic paints makes out there. Does it have to be "model paint" or will other acrylics do?
  19. Not sure what scheme/strategies I'm playing yet, but as a generic list for Hamelin how about this for 35ss: Hamelin the Plagued Obedient Wretch [2ss] Nix [7ss] Rat Catcher [5ss] Rat Catcher [5ss] Desperate Mercenary [2ss] Desperate Mercenary [2ss] Canine Remains [2ss] Canine Remains [2ss] The Stolen [3ss] 5ss Cache Idea being that Desperates give some ranged attack whilst they last and will become rats if kept near a RC or Ham. Same with Canine Remains. Canine remains have a bit more survivability compared to a rat and can become rats anyway. Canine remains also don't suffer from Slow to begin with so I can get them into position for a swarm with a RC. Only one Stolen as Hamelin can summon more and I only really need one around as a safety measure. Not sure if I need 2 rat-catchers, could get 2 more CR and 1ss cache instead. What do you think?
  20. Creepy old techno man? How about the Infamy Sherlock Holmes... great scuplture! http://www.infamyminiatures.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=51
  21. Hmm but this is a Colette crew special......
  22. Is there any way to deliberately heal an enemy model? I am thinking of sneaky ways of using Hamelin vs Leveticus. Hamelin can make Levi Insignificant but then Levi just commits suicide and removes the effect. However if you can keep him alive by deliberately topping up his wounds then you can take him out of the game (Insignifcant and has to target Hamelin) and also ruin the player's control hand as they cannot renew it. Is this feasible?
  23. D'oh! Another rules I missed out on my first Hammy game.... tsk. I need a check list.....
  24. I don't think they have a rule that forces them to activate all at the same time.... This would mean that regardless of the number of rats you have, they all activate on the same activation.
  25. What about if the rats HAD to activate together as a swarm, rather than on an individual basis? Kind of like an enforced Companion.....
