  1. Ah, oh well. Eventually I will get the game right... I realised that making them corpse counters would have been better, then I could turn them into Hollow Waifs (if I recall correctly). How do you overcome Collodi's super movement abilities? Kill all the dolls? There are lots of them... and I get out-activated easily. I also realise that Collodi's Dismantle spell is a pain in the bum as he uses it against my SPA's and then uses the scrap counters to create more marionettes. Thus, I am thinking vs Collodi an all undead crew would be better.
  2. Played vs Collodi tonight. Annoying little puppet master!!! I had: Leveticus 1 Peacekeeper 2 Belles 2 SPAs 1 Grave Spirit and 3 SS left over I created more SPA's from his marionettes/dolls but they didn't fair too well against the Stitched Together's. And he kept stealing any scrap counters on the table with his retract tricks.... using them to summon more marionettes.... I got him down to 3 wounds before we ran out of time.... Where are the rules about being carried by other models? I thought my Peacekeeper could be used to "carry" Leveticus but I couldn't find the rule in the book.
  3. Where does it say that he starts with one Hollow Waif? And on that matter, just out of curiosity. Why does he summon waifs and not just any old spirit? How does a dodery cyber-necrophiliac arise from a dead female spirit? Undead Belles I can sort of get as they have "Lure" due to their "beauty" or hypnoticness.... Just wondering, cos I am considering using alternate models for a Levie crew as I don't like the current Levie model (his head is odd...) and so I was looking for alternates for his crew models.
  4. Another Levie question. Does he start with any Hollow Waifs or does he have to wait for something to die? If the later is true then what is the cheapest and best minion to hire to slay for this purpose?
  5. What's wrong with Killjoy? He seems pretty good to me. I haven't got the rules for the Dead Rider (or any riders) nor Ashes and Dust so I cant comment on them. Can Leve use Joss from the Arcanists as he is a construct?
  6. 1) Does a crew with Leveticus benefit from a quantity rather than quality approach due to the fact that this allows Leve to target his own crew and convert them into SPA's or HW's? 2) Would you recommend getting something like Killjoy, a Steamborg Executioner, or some other large beastie? 3) Are belles good to have in a Leve crew? I was thinking they can be used to "push" models into range on his spells, so getting over his low speed to a certain extent... 4) When will there be an alt model for Leveticus and when will we get to see the rules and model for his avatar? The bits I have read make him sound like he is a rider and needs all the other rider models, which sounds quite fun really. However, does this mean that he will need all riders in non-avatar form? Would that work well?
  7. Is there a definitive list of who Leveticus can hire anywhere, including henchmen, mercenaries, etc...
  8. I can't find the Steampunk Abomination v2 card in the download faction section. Does it exist? Are there others missing?
  9. How does her "Nothing to live for" ability work? Is it a good thing?
  10. Ok, so had a sort of proper first game tonight. Things seemed to go well, it was my Leveticus vs Colette. Few things: 1) Combat Total - is that the attacker's CB+flip+mods thing or is it the difference between your total attack and their total defence? 2) If you use "Nimble" to move away from a model, does the model get a free strike? 3) Do you HAVE to use the triggers if they happen or can you opt to ignore them?
  11. Ok so Leveticus is the master I like the sound of most. However his "death-rebirth" thing sounds tricky. Have I got this right..... 1) As long as a Hollow Waif is one the board and "alive" then Leveticus can come back alive and sacrifices all Hollow Waifs on the board, but because they are sacrificed, they actually are resummoned back to him within 6" to start wandering about again... 2) You can only ever have 2 Hollow Waifs as they are Rare 2, even if they are created with spells 3) Because of Empty Shell, a Hollow Waif that is not within 10" of Leveticus is sacrified and is resummoned within 6" of Leveticus.
  12. 1) When do effects like "Slow" and "Paralyse" wear off? 2) Can you cheat damage flips? 3) How many times can you cheat fate per flip? 4) How many SS can you spend per flip? 5) Is there a penalty for casting spells in melee? 6) Can you opt to use a ranged attack (z) in melee rather than a strike (y)? Is there any penalty for doing so? 7) If shooting into melee, is there a chance of hitting friendly targets? 8) If a spell has Rg 12 (for example) with no icon then I assume it follows ranged attack rules for LoS, terrain, etc? 9) I assume you can use 2AP to walk your Wk twice.
  13. This is why I like the concept of Levi. Though the current model is a bit meh... something about the head disturbs me. Hopefully the alt will be out soon, or I just use a proxy. I know its not "legal" but would using the Privateer Press Cryx models be useful for a Levi crew? They are necro-steampunk and fab models. Should be the right scale to.
  14. OK, the mechanics of the game are fun, somewhat complex to first grapple, but once done there are various and numerous nuances that offer variety and strategic decisions. As with all games with any form of statistics that involve an element of competition there are those that want to rank models, formulate "killer" lists and such. Malifaux is no exception. And lets face it, no-one / not many want to play a weak crew as it is just setting you up for a fail. I have some zombie models and so I thought I'd get the Ressie masters and models, though it would seem that Ressies are not that great... not so keen on the Kirai models and summoning spirits or controlling spirits, oriental ones at that, does not appeal. Leveticus' concept sounds good but he is apparently from all the reading a hard master to get to grips with and as a noobie I'd like some form of success. But not having played Levie I am not sure what to believe as theory-craft is all well and good but no substitute for actual playing. I was considering Ramos but again I cannot decide. I like the idea of staying back out the way of melee and getting big machines to do the fighting for me. But that could be equally applied to undead gribblies.
  15. So I just got the Nicodem box set. I always think the models will be bigger than they actually are..... The punk zombies bother me.... a) their swords are at strange angles the swords look flimsy and small So, are there any zombie punk alternate models out there, even if its from another range? What do you think of the models?
  16. So I leap into Malifaux with two joyous feet and find myself drawn to the lovely mass of undead hordes that I so love. I have ordered Nicodem to start me off, though the other Ressie masters also look good. I've looked at "pullmyfinger" and read up on them, but how do they play in real experience terms. Reading theory-fluff is all good but also useful to hear from people who use them. McMourning seems pretty good in that he can summon fleshy-deadness and is more combat orientated. Nicodem seems very much one who sits back and hides. Love his avatar, well the model at least, still reading up on the rules. Mad-Hatter seems similar to McMourning in that he likes getting into combat. His avatar looks great! Not sure about the japanese lady spirit person. I like the concept, though it seems completely different from any other ressie master. So, how much overlap is there between the masters? How much synergy? What are people's experiences of each master? How would you rank the masters in terms of: melee ability survivability ranged ability spell-castiness (offensive) summoning utility/buff
  17. Sorry for being a noobie, but what do the little black and/or white people icons mean next to Nicodem's Arise and Bolster Undead spells mean?
  18. Are there any plans for any new masters for any of the factions?
  19. Is there somewhere that I can download the errata to print out?
  20. How do the two compare? Both can use constructs which look good. What are the pro's / con's of each? Which do you prefer and why?
  21. http://privateerpress.com/files/products/circle-orboros/warlocks/kromac-the-ravenous.png Could the above be used as a Marcus alternative? You could potentially swap out the axes with a staff or something. Or is there an alternate model for Marcus on the way?
  22. Does Malifaux allow for conversions of miniatures or are the models pretty much "pre-set"? So if I found some different zombies for example, I could use those instead of the Wyrd ones?
  23. Hello, I'm completely new to Malifaux, still tackling the rulebook after once brief read through. I'm taken by two main masters, Nicodem and Leveticus. I like the idea of having a nice undying horde of shambling monsters, and both seem to be able to access that. Leveticus sounds fun, though from the bits I've read he seems hard to play effectively. They also seem to overlap in terms of models they can hire so that I can use models for different Masters, giving me more options. Would either of those Masters make a good first time game in order to get used to the rules and if so what would you recommend to get with them?
