  1. How many people would you say (as a percentage) use proxies (and I mean decent proxies not sponges....). Are the PP/WM/Hordes miniatures appropriate for the setting or are they too "extreme"?
  2. So are you saying that Neverborn masters are better than non-neverborn masters?
  3. Only his avatar, not an alt version. Is Leveticus not getting an alt? :Sad_Puppet2:
  4. Seems to have gone quiet..... Any more sneak peeks at what is coming up? More importantly... any alt version of Leveticus and his avatar coming out soon? I love his concept of a steam-punk necromancer, but dislike his fluff and current model. Hence keen to see whatelse is out there and I may write some of my own fluff for a "Leveticus MkII".
  5. I know his avatar benefits from each of the riders, however, I also understand that having all four riders when using non-avatar Leveticus isn't ideal. Also that the riders are expensive and become easy targets. So does it really work to take all four? How easy is it to manifest Leveticus avatar? Is his avatar worth manifesting? What is Lazarus like? What does he do that makes him good for Leve? I assume from the name that he has some way of coming back like most of Leve's specific minions. Since Leve doesn't really do much for his team, I assume you want minions that can take care of themselves to a certain extent and don't rely on having synergy with their master.
  6. On Pullmyfinger, it states that many players consider Marcus one of the weakest masters in the game. Is this true or is there something that most players are simply missing? What is his avatar like?
  7. Just a thought, but how big should trees be? I was pondering making some but then thought, why not make them to scale. All the commercial trees are too small to be in scale with the models.
  8. Ahha! So I can just get the cards I want.... mwhahahaha a cunning plan takes my brain.
  9. I've got the rulebook (mini/pocket one) though where can I find all the stats for the models? If I get Twisting Fates and Rising Powers books, will they contain the right stats? I don't want to buy models just for the card.... can you get cards on their own?
  10. Ok, so is it best to take NO Steampunk Abom's then as Leve should create them in game? I have read opinions on both sides of the argument. So fewer and stronger, I am assuming then A&D are in that category. Dead Rider people seem to be rather keen on with Leveticus. Killjoy? Rogue Necromancy? Flesh Construct? If I take fewer minions, then do I not risk being out-activated and so the other side can just pour their attacks onto me, whilst I can only take out theirs bit by bit. Levie has no way of healing any of his team, so they have to be pretty self-sufficient.
  11. As a Leveticus newbie, I would like to know what you mean by "playing him aggressively"? His spells are awesome, though requiring a 10+ to cast Necrotic Unmaking. Which in my book is quite high. Unnatural Wasting is pretty good, though it requires either a :tomes or :crows at 8+ to cast which is again quite specific and reasonably high. So his spells are quite difficult to get off without burning SS (of which he won't have that many). He has no ranged attack other than his spells, and he is only ever really going to take out one model per turn if they are in range of UW and NU. This assumes they don't resist either spell. Whilst I like Leveticus, I find that usually his minions are worse off than the other team and he simply doesn't have the movement without aid, to get him to where he can blast away. Maybe I am playing him wrong or with the wrong crew.
  12. Only thing I dislike about Leveticus and the whole undead thing is that it all seems to revolve around "odd" undead. Hollow Waifs - look like rotten belles, but less dead - I envisage them as willing "cultists" ready to give up their soul for their idol (Leveticus) so that he may live forever, and they through him Rotten Belles - undead prostitutes.... really? Need I say more..... Punk Samuri Zombies - apart from the models looking really flimsy (and I have them so I know they ARE flimsy), they just don't fit the idea really. All the undead seem to be either sexualised women or weird oriental fusion zombies... Leveticus would be left with a bunch of spirit/undead women in his crew and I just don't like that concept, despite liking Leveticus himself.
  13. I've played WM and I'm also pretty new to Malifaux (still grappling the rules' subtleties). I think both games are good, though obviously the mechanics are different. In WM, having all your side activate before the other is a real pain imo. I much prefer the A-B-A-B method of Malifaux as it doesn't feel quite so one sided at the start. Plus it adds another level of tactics, as you have to think what order to activate in. Also, WM is rather static in its combat system, which whilst simple doesn't really give players the opportunity to try and "win" combat. We all know Khador are easy to hit but hard to damage, but luck/fate should play a part as it does in reality. There is something predictable about WM in its combat in that the outcome of some are not down to any form of randomness. In Malifaux there is usually the chance that something will always hit something, or the other side, something can always defend against something (usually... not always). It all depends on fate to a certain extent. And then there is the card mechanic vs dice. I really like the card mechanic. Having a "control" hand allows you to affect the outcome of important results directly, you have a certain level of choice over what happens. You don't get that with dice. I think that not being able to cheat fate on a negative flip is rather harsh and goes against the idea of CHEATING fate... surely you cheat the most when things are going badly, not when they are going in your favour anyway. Other than that I really enjoy Malifaux, if only I could find a master/faction I can stick to.
  14. Knowing what they do before purchasing is a big thing as otherwise you end up buying a model that you may like but on the table its not so great... leaving that stale taste in your mouth... and guts. This is more so with the bigger, more expensive models.
  15. Are they reprinting Rule Book 1? I know the rules are in the mini-rulebook but that has no fluf and stuff in it. Looking on Ebay its hard to get the original rulebook. Is Rising Powers and Twisting Fates the only 2 books you need now? Will they have the original stats in?
  16. How about this as a crew for Levie? 35 SS Leveticus Bete Noire Canine Remains x1 Rotten Belle x1 Steampunk Abomination x3 Watcher x1 Soutstone Miner x1 2SS left over Bete Noire adds some killing power and I can do some summoning her to position with Hollow Waif's or such. I can use the SSM to gather more SS for me to use. The Watcher allows me to cast spells from increased distance. The Belle allows me to pull either Lev into position, behind cover, or pull enemies into range. Canine Remains - sacrificial victim for a 2nd Hollow Waif SPA's - ready to get the D/E out.
  17. I have Nicodem and his crew (as the box set). Assembled and based but not painted. I would like to sell or trade so that I can get the Ramos set. Any offers?
  18. 1) Ramos I like his models generally and the idea of being a mad-inventor sort appeals to. How does he play? Are his minions good? 2) Rasputina I like spells so she seems to fit what I'd like. Not concerned about being slow as I like the idea of having them come to me and blasting away. What is she like? Is she a one-trick pony? Was thinking of getting Kaeris as she can go with either master (as well as my Leveticus, though I am beginning to think that he is not as cracked up as people say).
  19. There are lots of "we hate the Dreamer" threads as he would seem to be overpowered. However, with the changes to Bury (which is an interesting thread to read) I am wondering if this will change how the Dreamer is played, played against and so forth, thus affecting his "power level" in the game. I haven't any of the books outside the downloaded rules, so I have only the bits of fluff I can garner from the Malifaux website and others. But from what I have read, his fluff sounds fun what with summoning weird little nightmares, daydreams, and other freaky stuff. Plus there is the BIG LCB which just sounds great to. All not so bad for a little freaky child.
  20. The Dreamer appeals to me, in a different sort of way to Leve that I have been going on about... But what are the pro's / con's of playing this master? How does he play in reality (read things on Pullmyfinger, and such but would like people's views)? What is he like in his different forms, are they both good? What is his avatar like? Any other comments?
  21. http://www.crossgamingclub.com/forum/archive/index.php/thread-2058.html The rider near the bottom on the black/blue steed.
  22. After doing lots of reading, I have some questions about my ole friend Levie.... 1) Does every Levie list contain at least one Canine Remains? And is the purpose of this poor wee doggy just to be converted into a second Hollow Waif on turn one? 2) In Avatar form, he is a rider and gets bonuses from the riders. However, does this work pre-avatar going ping? 3) Alyce and "Ashes and Dust" seem to be almost auto-includes on most lists (assuming points available). Are they really too good not to include? 4) Also the Dead Rider seems to feature lots.... again similar as above. 5) What other tricks/tips do you suggest with Levie? I was using Belles to drag/push things into range of his spells, and also get things out of melee. 6) Should Levie begin with any SPA? Some say yes, others no as he can create them along the way. 7) Does a Levie crew benefit from a bias either way towards undead or constructs? And its making me mad with curiousity, but what is the deal with Levie and Hollow Waifs? I can't find any fluff anywhere and I don't have the books to read (yet....). So what is a Hollow Waif, is it a spirit? Does it contain part of Leveticus' soul and so when he dies he manifests from the Waif (bit like Voldermort and the horcruxes)? Are Hollow Waifs willing sacrificial lambs? What is in it for them or are they mindless slaves/cultists?
