  1. I live in Charlotte and I am trying to get the meta grown  out here, but it is a very tough thing to do due to 40k being quite an institution with gamers here.  I have piqued the interest of a LGS called Battleground Games ( a large stride in-of-itself) that has accommodated games on Monday nights. I have taught two people the game already and I am hoping for more to try it out when they see a LGS supporting the game.

  2. I would opine that Molly is the more versatile Master in Ressers.  With two upgrades that allow different paths to summoning plus having equal power in debuffing and summoning make her a very powerful Master that create undead/spirits out of thin air that damage enemy models just by showing up.  She has no weak Strategy or Schemes compared to the other Ressers who have distinct playstyles linked to their Strengths/Weaknesses.

  3. Been trying to get back into Malifaux after the 2e upgrade because I think the changes made this one of the best miniatures games on the market ever.  I have been trying to grow the meta here in Charlotte and I have been able to teach the game to a few people, one of them being the owner of Battleground Games Harrisburg (North East Charlotte - east of the  University).

Battleground Games has a Miniatures Monday that has not been overran by 40k players and it seems the owners are trying to allow some of the games like Warmachine and Malifaux have a chance which is great.  Looking to see if there are other people in Charlotte who would like to come out Monday night and play some Malifaux.

  4. uh that's exactly what he just said. The model gets 2 poison counters in the end phase, then on their next activation they take 2 wounds and go down to 1 counter. At the next end phase they go back up to 2 counters (assuming conduit still in play).

Yeah, I apologize for the Poison/Wd thing. I read their post wrong.

    BUT

LoS. It could not have happened. Z would just start Turn 1 every time by picking the biggest or baddest threat and just Poison it to death by turn 3 or 4. You have to get LoS.

  5. Well when zorida makes a voodoo doll of something at the Start closing phase it receives poison 2.

Now poison affects a model at the beginning of that models activation. So the austringer would take 2wd and discard a poison counter. If the voodoo doll is still conduited to it. Again at the start closing phase would get Poison 2. Which would increase the amount of poison counters to 2. (you never add always go up to the highest number.).

    That is not correct.

    1. LoS. Z could not have possibly had LoS unless she Ravened and then that would mean she could not have summoned a doll.

    2. Where does it say they take 2 Wd?

This is the official ruling on Poison:

When a model is hit by an attack with Poison # or affected by an Ability with Poison #, increase the number of Poison Tokens the model has to the # indicated either after resolving the attack, or as indicated by the Ability. Each time the model begins/starts its activation it suffers 1 wound per Poison Token it has, and then discards one Poison Token.

This was played incorrectly if that is how it was played. I play Z and I love her, but she can't just pick any model on the board to Conduit and she definitely can't cause 2 Wd an activation just by doing Conduit.

I wish she could, but she can't.

  6. Perdita would have had a free shot at Francois on the Charge......unless you were playing someone who has never played Perdita.

Also, how did you conduit the Austringer if he was hidden? You said no LoS....... Sexy Z needs LoS for the Doll to activate Conduit. How did the Austringer get poisoned?

Also, the Enslaved did nothing the entire game?

Did Samael just walk to his death?

Z is great but trouncing Perdita? I am not sure how the other guy lost so terribly.

Good job on the win! Always nice to see Z making her mark!

  7. Crooked men are my demise.

Drowned are annoying, but luckily most people think they suck.

Avoid spirits - this is the rare match-up where Necropunks are a better choice than night terrors - as they can spread out.

Also, never lure a Viktoria before they activate - people do this all the time and the Vikkie player will just say 'Thanks for the free walk!'

Not sure I am following on the first three. The fourth makes sense.

What is so bad about Crooked and Drowned? Why NOT take Spirits?

  8. This response is a bit late, but a model to possibly consider with Rasputina is:

    Myranda:

Can transform into a Raptor if you need speed (then transform back to avoid insignificant).

Can transform into a Mauler for beatstickery.

Can transform into a Raptor, beast trigger Rasputina, then Furiously cast December's Curse (on following turns, due to lack of AP, at least the Beast characteristic sticks around, iirc) or other (1) spells, and can then also heal Raspy as needed.

Can transform into a Sabertooth for melee (though you don't get access to leap :(

Also can do Shikome, Rattler, Lawyer, Silurid, Gupps, etc... (though once again, without access to the related Beast's spells)

Sadly can't become the Blessed (unique :(

Just a thought on a versatile model that you could include with Raspy. See Pull My Finger for more info and some tips and tricks.

That is a great idea! I never thought of her, but it does make sense.

  9. I don't think anyone ever said that 'all' would be revealed. Last year, NO stats were revealed until Thursday of GenCon. 2 years ago, some basic info about Colette (and maybe Kirai and Ophelia, I can't remember) were revealed a week or so ahead of time.

Wyrd doesn't owe anybody anything. The fact that they have been doing as much in previews is more than they have to do anyways. Experience says that people buy the stuff either way. Experience also says that as soon as people get their hands on the book on Thursday next week, there will be enough info floating about for people to make informed decisions about what models to buy. So you have to wait to get info and buy stuff in the online store on Friday instead of Thursday. Learn some patience. Will get you a lot farther in life.

Wyrd is a business. It is not about doing us favors, they are doing themselves a favor by advertising their product. They would be doing their job. If it is good, word spreads and mouths water. They are not going to sell as much in this economy by being secretive and waiting until the last minute to release information. If they are content selling to just their friends, then good for them, but it is still bad business. I also highly doubt you take this stance in all aspects of your consumer life.........

  10. On a company forum you can't expect many opposing opinions especially from people that support the game. not necessarily a bad thing just something to be cognizant about..

*edit by the time I put up response I was two pages behind lol

    Yeah, I am noticing that.

I also apologize for singling one Henchman out but it appeared he was trying to wash over the fact that we have no stats for these models. I agreed with the post that stats are the #1 or #2 determining factor for purchasing a model. We are a little over a week away and we have had one minion leaked and we were told all would be revealed with plenty of time to figure out our purchase list and it is looking like this is not so. This is not being addressed, only swept aside.

  11. Eh, not quite a Bira of that time, I think. We can all agree that it is certainly murderous in its design.

True, that is why I said "some design on", meaning it is not an actual Bira, but developing from the idea of the Bira 's design. also, I speculated the Bira because it seems tofit the timeline better and fits location better than the Thompson which was invented in the US around 1919. But, who knows? It could be None of the Above - just some design to look cool - and we are giving Wyrd way too much credit in the research department.

  12. I judge him by his hat, and it is amazing

Why do Henchmen do this? Does Wyrd pay you to change the subject or distract? Every time someone points out that Wyrd is not giving people good customer service, there is a Henchman on to make some comment that is either snarky, belittling, or just changes the subject. Don't dicount people like that, it is rude and it makes the company look terrible.

  13. Well, that open drum tommy gun tells me that he's going to carry on the Guild tradition of victory through superior firepower. I'm curious about whether he's tagged to a specific master, or a general use figure.

If you zoom in, you will see there are multiple barrels, so it is not a "Tommy" gun. Could be some design on the Bira guns of the time. Bira guns came from the East so it would be closer to the guy.

  14. These stealth stat card changes to abilities are starting to grate. Our group ran into this when looking for the most up to date version of dispel magic (Witchling Handler).

Perhaps a fourth PDF is needed to specifically track these; something like Talents and Spells updates PDF?

Check pg 115 of the new 1.5 rulebook. It states base contact with the target.

    Should not have to..........

  15. As a primarily Guild player, I've done a little reading, and have noticed that the general consensus seems to be that aSonnia is incredible, aJustice is workable, aPerdita is an awesome model (but that what she gains has a lot to overcome in what she loses) and that aHoffman is kinda crap (hyperbole).

Their $20-35 pricetag (from my usual seller) makes a not-insignificant barrier to entry for something that might prove to be actively detrimental (at least for the more situational avatars). Now, I'm not saying I expected them to be pure 'upgrades' over the base form. I'm glad that they represent a variety of shifts to emphasize a variety of facets of the game; some alter a master's playstyle from one (say, support) to another (say, beat stick), but for the time being I can't see myself getting any unless I found a good deal. Maybe one, at least to get some experience in with the mechanic (focusing on meeting the criteria, learning to time it coming out, etc).

Also, I think between 7 players so far we only have 1 avatar (and I don't think that's even seen table time yet), so there's also a general emphasis on learning and really grasping the base mechanics before we collectively branch out into other facets just yet.

These are nice little collectables for those who have bought everything else, but if I want a different playstyle, I would just buy a Master that has a different playstyle. At that cost, I can get an entire Master's Starter Box.

---------- Post added at 10:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 PM ----------

I am not a Guild player but I have a single small Guild crew. I plan to fill out this crew (with a Witchling Handler and Fire Gamin) JUST so I can play Sonnia's Avatar. It's all I want from the Guild. So yeah, rather popular I think.

Kirai I kind of wrote off. She was just not quite there. I've been out of the game for a bit and the revert on her damage spread actually makes me want to put her on the table. I think she is fun, I just couldn't justify it. Oh and the (much needed) Shikome cuddle makes her more viable IMO.

I have moved to Neverborn and haven't delved much into the Avatars. I am getting Zoraida's avatar this week though. She just looks like so much fun. I played Pandora for the first time today and felt dirty making McMourning slit his own throat. I know Avatar is seen as a downgrade which actually tempts me into it. I just don't think I want to play her much otherwise...

You can't Obey a Master......... and I am not sure if you can have a minion attack itself........
