  4. You can try advanced deployment for laser cut tokens. I haven't used the myself, but I have heard good things about them. There are many other similar products on the market if you look.

    http://store.advanceddeployment.com/

The others have pretty much covered your options for base inserts. I will just put forth that doing your own custom bases is not as hard as people often think it is. There are lots of tutorials on the web, and much of it is trial and error, but you pick it up quickly if you go for it.

Like Jewomie, I pin everything. Not necessarily because it needs it, but because it makes me feel better. I am a little OCD about it, to the point where I pin the things that most people look at me like I'm nuts for pinning. But, as mentioned, the plastics do not need pinning, particularly if you use a good plastic glue.

    Welcome to the hobby.

  5. peebs, I will say that getting ideas can also be a matter of practice. I had a horrible time coming up with ideas and methods of execution for a very long time. Now, the ideas aren't that hard to come by most of the time, and I can usually work the execution out from there. While I am not as good as Mako (and who is really *grin* ), I am leaps and bounds better than I was even a year ago simply due to my willingness to challenge myself and not be afraid to fail once in a while.

  6. I will reiterate previous comments from myself....

    I hate you! :-P

Seriously though, this is great work as always. And the best part for me is I was already triying to figure out how to do something like this. Now I have directions to "try" to emulate. I say try because to date, none of my efforts have matched your, but I keep trying.

  7. This Saturday is International Tabletop Day. This is an event being held around the world, and Wyrd is in full support of it. As such, I, as a henchman, will be attending the day at Pair A Dice Games. While there, I will be offering demos, and open play of Malifaux, as well as have my Evil baby Orphanage available for play and demos.

Come join us. There is no fee, and all we ask is that you have a good time.

Where: Pair A Dice Games, LLC

274 N. Goodman Street, Rochester, NY

    When: Saturday, March 30th

    11 am until 9 pm

  8. I, for one, actually fit this comment perfectly. While not a great painter (at least as compared to Mako), I think I do ok with a brush. Conversely speaking,.. I suck at playing. I think my record is something like 5 wins and 27 loses or some such *grin*

Locally at least I break the mold. Not sure on a larger scale since I don't get out much. But I am fairly proud of my painting, and my record is pretty solid, when I'm not just screwing around, (and even sometimes then as well.)

  9. Another series I liked was SM Sterling 'Island in the sea of time'. its a what would happen book if the Island of Nantucket was teleported back in time 2000 years. After that Its there is no sci-fi at all and how people adapt and recreate a civilization.

I heartily second this one. Also, there is SM Stilring's series that starts with "Dies the Fire". It's what happens in present day when Nantucket gets sucked back in time. Very post apocalyptic, starting with the apocalypse itself.

Moving on from Stirling, I recommend John Ringo. He has several good series. Most of them are sci-fi oriented, although not all. He has one modern techno thriller series, 1 future setting that is very fantastical, 1 modern fantasy, and as I said, several sci-fi. All are good.

There is always the Wheel of Time if you haven't tackled that one yet.

Elizabeth moon did a series that started with "Sheepfarmer's Daughter." It's a good fantasy story, and she has recently begun expanding on the universe it's set in. She also has quite a few sci-fi novels.

David Weber is a good author as well, with several different series ongoing. Honor Harrignton series would be my recommendation for Sci-fi, and the Safehold series has a nice mix of sci-fi and historical.

    Hope this helps.

  10. Not voting as I don't really have a preference of my own. But I will say that my local crew has really liked my current system. They fight over a trophy for each event, but the prizes are handled as a raffle. Tickets match up with TP. This way, everyone has a shot at the prizes, but the top players have a better chance, and the top player still gets something to remember his victory.

  11. So, what would your Master be willing to defend? What place or item would they be most interest in? Well come on out and show us what you think.

The hobby challenge for this event is to build a Special terrain feature. The terrain feature you bring will be submitted for voting for the hobby challenge award. In addition, the terrain feature may be used in each of your games during the tournament.

The Tournament will be a standard Gaining Grounds Tournament with the above noted change. Format will be fixed Faction, 55 Stone hiring pool, 35 stone rounds, 3 rounds.

Come on out and try your hand at controlling the land. During the month of April, I will be running a Territories league of Malifaux. An entry fee of $15 will be used to generate prize support. 13. Not all encounters happen on your terms. Sometimes, you have to just deal with what the fates have handed you. So, with that in mind, I present you the Opponent's choice Tournament. This tournament will be a Gaining grounds Tournament with a twist. Each round will be 35 Soulstones. Each player will bring a 75 Soulstone hiring pool. During each round, your opponent will select your crew from the hiring pool you brought. You may select your master prior to the crew choice, but that is the only choice you get in crew selection each round.

So, do you think you can handle it? Willing to challenge yourself in such a fashion. Then come join us on Saturday March 16th at Millennium Games and Cyberstorm. Registration begins at 10 am, and the first round will commence at 10:30 (or very soon after.)

    The Details:

    What: Opponent's choice Tournament

    When: Saturday March 16th

10 am Registration, 10:30 am Start

    Where: Millennium Games

    3047 W Henrietta Rd

    Rochester, NY 14623

    (585) 427-2190

Fee: $10 (All entry goes to Prizes)

As usual, feel free to direct questions my way.

  14. Can't offer much. But I did make a merc on an alter (for sacrifice by my BB Shaman). I used a missculpt of a Latigo pistolero with some work done on him. In about a year, there will be the Though the breach sprues which will likely make great D. Mercs. Maybe these will give you ideas.
