  1. Yeah, It is great fun. Treat it as such!

I was on the team you guys played in the last game of the team tournament last year (Perdita + Viks w/ Von Schill). After carefully metering my intake for the whole day, you guys shared with me a 4oz glass and it definitely pushed me over the line!

Your combo was great, we saw it and we didn't complain about it. We simply said, "Darn it! Why didn't we think of that!" The team tournament is just a fun venue of saying, "wouldn't it be great if..." My friend and I had a great time in every single team game, and it was really an amazing day.

So thanks for the great game last year, bro!

That is probably one of my favorite games a Malifaux ever!  I clearly remember most of it even a year later.

I remember the game well... There was a hill in the middle and both sides were like... "YOU GO FIRST OVER IT! NOT ME!"

And then at the end, we left, I think, a belle hanging in your deployment zone that allowed you to shoot her off the board taking away some scheme points that I honestly thought cost us the tourney on points.

I will say one thing that was disappointing was that you chose a scheme that I think, in hindsight, should have screwed us with our dog-killing, but the scheme card that was on hand was worded in such a way that Raoul saw that it would not and the judges agreed.

BUT... In reading afterwards, I could not find a single other person's card or rule-book phrasing that was quite the same that allowed it to be such that if I killed his dog that you would not get first blood... (Or whatever the situation was)

Even still close and fun game that I obviously remember fondly even if we had wound up losing.

This past saturday, ran into one of the guys we played on the sewer board and we reminisced.... Just another illustration of how much fun the whole experience was.

I hope people that were in this year had the same pleasant memories. (Sorry I was not there to rain whiskey on the proceedings but I had to get my brains beat in by warmachine that day, but had a blast in the 1.5 story... Thanks again Greg)

The dog killing can be explained as such:  The scheme card said that the viks would get 2 vp if the first two models to die belonged to the opponent, one of us(Gruesom and I) was nominated as the opponent.  Then on turn 1 activation 5 or 6 we used Sebastian to Bloody Harvest the dogs being sure to resolve the damage first against the one of us who'se dogs were not nominated for first blood; thus breaking the scheme.  I felt kind of dirty doing it but some whiskey chased the nasty taste out of my mouth and we were happy to share some with our frenemies across the table :-)  Then you got sword vik over the hill and into choppy choppy mode against dead rider, a rogue necro, and I think Izamu.  We were lucky to escape that situation.  You got one thing wrong though Gruesome, we won that event by the thickness of a bottle label.

Sorry I couldn't make it this year, turns out I'm dumb.

  2. Miniature matters isn't the right part of the boards for this thread...

    BAMF!

...and we're now in Malifaux matters. *grin*

I really really like how its not even a question of "was this post moderated" but more that it is clearly marked as having been moderated. Thank you. Moderation is sometimes done as a ninja on other boards and it usually leads to a fear/loathing of the mods. So far I appreciate and agree with what the mods have done here. Thanks again.

On a slightly different note mythicFOX: does you wallet say BAMF on it?

  3. Bigger Changes

Bewitch - Now causes card draw instead of preventing opponent cheating (NB: I never, ever saw a Zoraida player cast Bewitch in M1E)

Hex - entirely different ability on an upgrade with same name. (Again, anecdotally, I always found Zoraida had better things to be doing than spend 2AP on this spell, but ymmv)

    New Abilities

Tarot Reading - Upgrade with two new abilities - scheme marker manipulation and voodoo doll healing

    Lost Abilities

    Bayou Two-Card

Invisible servants - 4" push at end of encounter

On the other hand I found that Hex was amazing. If I knew what you wanted to do with a character I could try to take it away. Want to use one twin to heal the other? I'll hex it away. Want to pull strings? I'll hex it away. Trying to use Collodi/dolls to interact? I'll just hex off "Marionettes". Izamu could lose "reliquary" before I kill him and now he'll stay dead. Oh look, Pappa Loco lost "Boom", now I dont care where he is when he dies. Take Desolate Core off of Ashes and Dust, now it'll stay dead. Hex is one of those spells that needed your imagination but could be game breaking.

To me having Hex taken off Zoriada completely changes the way I have to play her. Now I can't hire just one twin. I can't make Molly unpityful. I can't Obey Sue from across the board to Hurt himself and draw me cards. I can't hex off "shrug off" to prevent my opponent from shrugging off the sacrifice after reactivate effect. I can't cheat in a 13 then stone for another 13 with Bayou two card for a 30+ cast.

  4. On more then one podcast it was mentioned that new plastic box sets are coming for old masters (Pre book 4). How will the order in which they will be released determined? Why not have players vote (literally) with their wallets for which ones come out first?

Have a selection of boxes available to pre order, and which ever one has the most $ spent on it is the first one released then the second and so on. Is this a terrible idea or a brilliant one?

  5. Ophellia, there really isn't an easy counter for her. Cover...paired. Engage her...squee, gunfighter and aim high. Terror...she burns 1 mid card and or stone. Oh, and she can walk 18" and do an amazing amount of damage that can also ignore armor. One of the most underrated models in the game. Ugh

PS - Yeah, Pandora counters her but who doesn't Pandora counter?

Sue. Sue is so good and he's even better if you can give him some healing... And he counters Pandora.

  6. Three cheers for Rauls coffee! Also congrats on handing me a good beating in the Masters!

Thank Gruesome. His idea and mostly his coffee. Pandy vs ophellia really isn't fair, and I think you killed almost as much of your own crew as I did. Are you on vassal? We should play again.

How did the viks do 70 wounds? A hand full of masks or just lucky whirlwinds? How much stuff was summoned?

  7. I was one of the team members that played the Napervillians in the second round of the Team Tourney. Raul (Korrosion) and Dave were super fun to play against and it was a good game despite the fact that we got curb-stomped. This was my first Adepticon, and I was pleased to meet so many great players. I really hope to make it next year.

My name is Raul, I'm a recovering resser. [crowd: hi Raul] I had a relapse last weekend.

Turns out that if you're trying to kill Izamu the best way is to win initiative, brood mother a mature, charge with lilith, then swing again, then diving charge, then melee expert. You guys were the closest all day to killing the Armor and it was only bad luck on your part that he survived. The final score didn't reflect how close the game was. It turned on a few key flips. Turns out blasting decay into a big melee is a good plan :-)

All our opponents were great fun. Our first round opponents were ophellia/somer with 0 caches and lots of gremlins/piglets/stuffed pigs. Yan Lo actually maxed all his paths that game and wasted chi later because there was nothing left to unlock. It was an explosion of bodies.

Round two was against Lilith/viks/von shill on the sewers board. This game we let the viks kill our dogs for us instead of us killing them. Lilith and a mature took Izamu down to 1 wound then we gave him emergency healing by blasting decay off the mature.

Round three was against viks/von shill/perdita/sue/guardian with a ton of shooting. We were scared of going over the hill. Great scrum in the middle of the board with Viks/ronin/perdita/rogue necro/izamu/Yan lo/sue/guardian/dead rider. So much fun. I hope I can make next years.

All three games we played against at least one outcast. 2 games were viks/von shill. The "coffee" was excellent and my liver is still recovering.

  8. really i would rather see a rotten bell then a beckoner. i may be just a little twisted but i think a seeing a zombie would be cool then a scantily clad lady of negotiable virtue

The catch is that the zombie is also a scantily clad lady of negotiable virtue. Of those two choices I'll take the one that is alive.

On a different note is the puppet with a thimble over its head not an option anymore? I seem to remember one but I could have it confused with something else.

  9. I agree. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to have Burt be that many pieces but I almost glued him to my fingers several times and my fingers to each other twice.

Cheers ... the skin is good. Just ignore the eyes (Thank god for his hat lol)

I glued together little Burt Jebsen ... the little bugger. For one small Gremerin he has 10 pieces. I pretty sure that about the same amount of seperate peices (Bodies and extras) you get in the Ophelia box-set - give or take. But he looks good hehe but to me his gun shall be called Gun o'Many Barrels - something gonna get hit

    @Greenstuff_gav

By any chance is that a Storm Gremerin?

    :-P

    *** SIDE NOTE ***

Just noticed I have been thanked. Anyone know where I can see where I been thanked??

    *** END NOTE ***
