  1. oh wow, that turned out completely amazing. I'm psyched that you not only went with that idea but that it turned out this amazing. You have really done an excellent job with transferring the look and feel of the original to this medium.
  2. Thanks all for the comments, i'm kinda a fan of that turquoise color and use it a lot in my works. Just picked up the collodi boxed set to continue the neverborn theme. Looking foreward to the new stuff from book 3 though all the same.
  3. As I understand it there are a handful of new puppets coming out in book 3, anyone spoil any juicy info on how well they will play with Collodi here?
  4. Love the slaneshi teddy, seems appropriate. Otherwise that jacket on seamus looks straight out of my grandfathers closet... creepy.
  5. What about a classically inspired mural that covers the back wall? Something like The Fisherman's Wife mixed with a steampunk octopus?
  6. So I've gotten in 6-7 games so far and i've been plugging away at the neverborn. Where I originally swore I would stick to just Pandora and her associates it then grew to just Pandora plus the Dreamer, and then I figured why not buy Zoraida while I'm at it? So here is the completed work so far. The basing is pretty basic so far, I just wanted a non-descript cobblestone that could work for any of my models. Waldgeist, I've liked these guys a lot for Zoraida, decent attack and some nice defense, Zoraida gets a lot out of obeying them around the table. The stiched togeathers, these are possibly my favorite minions thus far, the visual link to oogie boogie not withstanding, these guys have been a ton of fun to play and at least one have wound up in each of my games since buying them. Rather generic paintjob for the voodoo doll. I want to cherry pick a couple new sculpts out of the puppet wars game for more dynamic dolls. Zoraida - definitely my favorite thus far of the neverborn masters. Not a direct damage dealer but does so much to buff the crew and her level of interaction with her crew is what does it for me. Slurids - i'm pretty happy with the paintjob coming out looking very organic but I havent quite figured these guys out. Every role i try them in I just wish I had taken the waldgeist or Kade instead. Am I looking at these guys wrong? Teddy - I know I posted him before but he's too cool not to include again. Since i've played more and more zoraida I havent seen the need for him and his "immune to willpower" skills. Pandora - touched up the highlights on her and re-based her. Not too psyched about her. Might be more excited if i had a serious group to play with that didn't mind a challenge or just playing against her fruity ways. The sorrows, pretty basic ink and drybrush but included for completions sake. Baby Kade - this model alone did more to get me into Malifaux then any rules manual or henchmen every could have. He finds his way into any of my non-dreamer lists where I think i could benefit from a face beater. Candy - while i love the model and I'm very proud of the paintjob, I just can't wrap my head around playing her. She just doesnt seem to justify her pts to me. Can anyone give some good Candy specific tactics that might help with her? Dreamer / Daydreams - still a little ways to go on this one. (i see a Thundercats logo on his t-shirt like i remember having from that age) and a few details on the daydreams need completing. Chompy - Very happy every time he hits the table, 10 pounds of awesome in a 5 pound box. Unpainted I still have: The twins - lelu and lelitu alps x 3 Copelius Lillith primordial magic Any thoughts about sprucing up the bases with some color splashes or what models to pick up next? Lastly, I have a couple experienced players in my area and I'm thankful for the guidance they have given thus far but does anyone have any suggestions for starting up a regular Malifaux night at your local FLGS? I'd really like this to be a weekly or bi-weekly thing and get a solid competitive scene going in my area (Rochester NY btw,) If I were more experienced I'd love to apply for henchman status and start running some local events but I dont feel confident in marshalling an event at this point. Thanks again to anyone who bothered to read this far. And in particular thanks to: The gamers lounge - great advise and regular updates, Enough malifaux talk to keep me interested through the 40k sections. The Aethervox - pure malifaux awesomeness. Updates infrequently but each episode has been an instant classic. Rathnard and Karn for excellent tactica articles. I immediately felt like I had a better understanding of the intention of some rules just by reading through these a couple times. All the staff at Wyrd that has made this such a diverse universe with as much depth as it has.
  7. From my 40k days, me and a couple guys would go to GT's, of course we'd stay up the night before we left finishing models and trying to get those finishing touches done. So it's late, it's a couple beers in and he goes out on the porch to put the gloss coat on his finished night lords army, looks a little shiny in the bad porch lighting, brings them inside to realize he just re-primed the batch of them not gloss coat like he thought the can said. :'(
  8. Got one of the local players to play a pickup game tonight so i could hone in on some of the rules. He hadnt planned on playing so borrowed a crew off one of the other guys already playing. He played: Seamus copycat killer belle noir cybelle 3 x rotten belles My crew: Pandora Kade Candy 2x sorrows Teddy For mission we decided to just play for SS pts as it would allow us to focus on play instead of worrying about the more complicated rules and scenarios. (Less for my demonic brain to have to hold onto at any given time really..) Terrain was some pretty densely packed random terrain, with 6" setup zones on both board edges. I'll give a run down of the highlights i remember. Turn 1 - pretty standard move fest, all his hoard shuffles foreward and splits to go around a monolith in the center of the board. For me I join the sorrows to candy and pandy and pandy makes a couple cheeky jabs with incite on the closest belle that got a touch to close for a couple free points on her. Kade goes up one flank and teddy goes up the other. Turn 2 - Kade gets lured by one of the belles and stumbles foreward but is missed by the attack. In return he pulls off his sweet bread trigger and then swaps places with teddy. More undead shuffle around. Teddy fluries and kills the belle who is replaced with belle noir. (doh!) Belle noir activates her extra killy power and puts a hurting on teddy who is later killed by copycat killer on his next activation (the cool painted models always die first!) Killed another belle with the thousand papercuts from candy, pandy and kade and lose one of the sorrows to seamus and his shotgun...(damn that gun is good.) Turn 3 - Things really start looking bad for me, I start off by killing belle noir with self loathing off pandy (she fails the I'll be back roll too! ) Seamus sets about resurrecting one of the belles again and then kills another sorrow with his gun. I kill one of the weakened belles with candy who is in return killed by cybelle and the newly resurrected belle. Turn 4 - Game changer this turn, get a decent hand with some high crows in it... Pandora steps up and hits seamus (who came up last turn to kill the sorrow joined to pandy with his gun)with inflict emotions, triggers her Mental Anguish to make him flee, pushes foreward and generally annoys the rest of the crew. Kill another belle (again) and get beat up by cybelle and the other still living (again...) belle. Seamus loses his activation due to fleeing. Turn 5 - Hit seamus again with mental anguish (he burned all his soulstones early and only showed up with 3, while trying to target and hit pandora with seamus's gun) this pushes seamus to the board edge, his last 2 undead hookers are unable to nail pandora and turn six i'm able to flip the red joker for the WP duel to push seamus off the board. We called it there as I still hand Candy and Pandy while he had cybelle and one belle left. Overall a very exciting game. I can see where the schemes really make the game as I had no real way of killing cybelle or seamus without making them flee off the board and eventually he would connect on pandora with that pistol of his and just murder her outright...
  9. Made some quick progress today. The stitched togeather look pretty good so far. Really like how the skin turned out on them so far. Started work on the dreamer himself. This guy is pretty basic, and i'm not sure i'll be able to do anything impressive with him. After all it's a tiny kid in a t-shirt with a towel... Let me know what you think and any suggestions, etc!
  10. So here is the assembled crew, so far I have the following: LCB / dreamer 2x stitched togeather coppelius 3x daydreams 1 insidious madness For the basing on these I used some plasticard that i picked up from the local model train shop, comes in a textured format. I used some riverstone/cobblestone that i cut to size and added a little pummice sand for texture to spots. Got half the crew primered, going to start the base colors tonight. Wish me luck. Got my first game roughly scheduled for tomorrow night. If anyone is in the rochester area feel free to stop by millenium games and cheer me on...
  11. Very nice, I'm a big fan of using a unifying color scheme like that to tie your band togeather.
  12. What is it being used for? Or is there an Ashes and Dust unit i haven't seen yet?
  13. Picked up the Dreamer's box set today. I'm going to try turning this crew into a bit of a blog. We'll see if i can keep going.
  14. Yah, i listened to the pandora tactica they did on the drive back from NYC, a lot of it went over my head but i'll give it another go after a couple games and I am sure it will help more then.
  15. So after playing quite a bit of 40k and WFB I have decided to branch out a bit and play some of the smaller games that don't require vast fields of models (Skaven I'm looking at you). I picked up the Pandora crew on the suggestion that it played well out of the box with little further investment. I loved the models for Candy and Kade and out came the wallet. Since then I picked up Teddy as he was referenced in one of Kades abilities... (seemed reasonable right?). So having been stranded out of town for most of the past week I got a lot of painting done in the evenings and listening to podcasts (aethervox has been amazing, i could go for another episode already) and all this before even playing my first game. Below I've got some pics of my first attempt at painting a crew. None of it is to Ratty's standards but I think they should be ok for FLGS play. Now to find a FLGS that plays in my area... (Rochester NY) or someone willing to show me the game... I love the way his grin turned out. Very menacing. The sorrows turned out ok for me, need to finish the wash / highlight process a bit yet to really pop the definition on them. She needs the most work yet. The hair turned out terribly and I'm just not inspired by her pose, I'm also quite bad at painting skin. I try to avoid it whenever possible... Very happy with how Candy turned out, her basket of tricks was really fun to paint. Very recognizable items but horribly tiny. The cute teddy bear with the knife, the epitome of Neverborn in my opinion.
