I've got my costume set-up but I came across a hitch, and I need someone's help.
Basically I need someone tall and incredibly hairy to follow me around all day - in my shadow, practically walking on my heels - and not say anything. Just look menacing. Willing to pay.
P.s Horns are optional and welcome

Heya Anthem, glad to see you're picking the game up.
I too was enticed by Rasputina as my starting gang, and hers is already quite impressive right out of the box - the golem and 3 gamin each have their own tricks, and it doesn't take too much effort for the synergy of the whole crew to leak into your playstyle. I'd suggest adding, as mentioned, a Silent One - the addition of another Casting Expert that can buff your master is only a good thing.
I also went and got a December Acolyte - remember that unlike other wargames you put your crew together after you flip for strategies, and I find the Acolyte works really well in objective games. His ranged attack, while not the most powerful or with the best range, also applies Slow which is brilliant for pinpoint debuffs on those tricky models you don't want to have to deal with all at once.
Check out the Rising Powers book if you haven't already - the addition of Snow Storm, which is announced for a model release in July, is a fantastic part of the gang which will provide an expert powerhouse, just beware the higher cost
Hope this helps!

That, right there, just made my day xD

I would have to check on that, but the matter is it is not always a negative to have it in your hand when playing Raspy... sometimes, if you are losing the flip anyways, you can cheat "down" and play it in order to get the required trigger.
See, these are the tactics I need to start applying with Raspy...I always flip the Black Joker on damage or Decembers Curse casts, so I'm too lost in being outraged by the joker to remember I actually get to draw cards. 5 or 6 games now, a Black Joker flip at least once in every one, and not a single time have I remembered =P

Holy cow. Those are fantastic, I love the basing on the spiders, and a fantastic paint job all round
-
I'm loving the board, really inspiring, and that Coryphée is fantastic! Keep up the good work
-
I have to copy the above question, as if these were available in the UK I'd snap them up - Rasputina needs her ice pillars, and as soon as Kaeris is out some fire pillars would not go amiss.
And then of course, once I had the flame pillars it would be silly not to buy Sonnia, but then it starts getting ridiculous and I can't afford food for the next few months =P
-
"Did you read anything in the Death Marshall handbook on how to sneak up on people whilst carrying a coffin? No? ....me neither..."
-
I hadn't heard that one before.
Never playing a brawl. Never
-
Ahaarrr, thanks for the clarification, Ratty, and my subsequent excuse to never play a Collette gang during a brawl
-
With Dance Together and Dance Apart, it requires both Coryphée to be together, yes, and then sacrifice the models. The second Coryphée (the one who isn't using the action to Dance Together or Apart) is being targetted as such, but is a requirement for the action to occur. Dance Apart, however, means that both Coryphée cannot use Dance Together as an effect on the Duet is applied to both (i.e you split the wounds, counters and inability to use the action again)
Does that make more sense?
-
If it says the model is not allowed to take the action in that round of activation, then you won't be able to use it again, even with a different Coryphée I'm afraid.
-
That's entirely dependant on the wording. If it specifies that those specific figures can't use it with each other, then you can use a different Coryphée to join together, whereas if it states that the model cannot use it again during the round then your nifty trick won't work =P If I had the book with me, I might be able to get a better idea but as I'm currently stuck at work I'm sorry I couldn't be more help =s
-
I'm unsure of the wording under Dance Apart and Dance Together - if it specifies that the Coryphée can't use one after already using the other, then I believe that trying to use a second Coryphée (or should that be third?) would fail...
-
Is this for a Scrap or a brawl? You can't have more than 2 Coryphée on the table during a scrap as that would exceed their Rare 2 limitation
EDIT: In a brawl that should be fine, as the Coryphée aren't limited to which specific partner they combine with; it would have to be the unactivated Coryphée using Dance Together though I believe, but am now uncertain...
-
I'd say that the wording shows the intent, as the card says 'an activation in which it moves' rather than 'activation in which it has moved'.
The way I read it, if you plan to move Hans at all, you don't shoot.
-
I understood the 'Decembers Pawn' rule to state that when you 'play or flip' the black joker you get to draw two cards, and as discarding isn't the same I didn't believe it triggered that ability?
-
I played a 30SS game last night with a brand new gang, in a relaxed setting (in a pub, drinking copious amounts of beer). The game had a delayed start as I had to wait for my opponent to bring the terrain we'd ordered on the internet (western style terrain makes for a much better game than using Mordheim >.<)
As a result we had a 3 hour game until the end of turn 5, and called it rather than flipping for an additional turn due to time. If you have a grasp on the general rules, the games can fly by, even if you are taking a laid-back approach =)
-
I make it sound like it was all my lucks fault, however I do an injustice to the Collette player (having a gaming club upstairs in a pub will do that to you; one too many and you forget the details!) who had a solid plan, well planned activations and a good amount of luck as well to boot (especially turning the Datsue-Ba into a Mannequin!)
I plan to take less Seishin in future and possibly start with a Shikome rather than a The Hanged, as I found it had little bearing in the game thanks to a lack of range and the Showgirls high WP as standard.
In future I plan to take Bodyguard, and possibly Army of the Dead (not entirely sure here, the Ressurrectionist specific scheme where I end with more models than I began with?)
Or am I reading into my loss too much?
-
Well I really wish I'd chosen Bodguard now lol, got my ass handed to me!
30SS game versus Collette. I flipped Claim Jump and figured that'd work fantastically with Stake a Claim and Breakthrough, whilst Collette flipped treasure hunt, whilst taking announced (Collette specific) gain 7 ss and secret bodyguard.
A combination of poor activation choice, poor timing, over-protection for the Seishin and inexperience caused a loss of 6-0, with just a single Seishin, Kirai and Lost Love left on the table. I made some bad choices and played like I was still using Rasputina, forgetting my tricks and gambling too much on card flips when my hand was terrible.
I think that Bodyguard is a fantastic choice for Kirai when she has a Seishin shield and Lost Love available, but I'll have to work a lot harder to understand the synergy this crew has available to it.
-
I've got my first game with Kirai tonight (unsure of size yet) and was wondering what people would suggest to take in terms of her schemes? Obviously hers is a mobile gang, so I was wondering whether it would be better to take generic schemes involving objectives rather than the Ressurrectionist-specific ones.
I think the Kirai-specific 'Betrayed by Spirits' will be more dependant on my Strategy and the gang I am playing, but then again still confused...
Any advice? =D
-
With the models I've ordered, my 35 list is looking more like;
Kirai w/ Lost Love
2 x The Hanged
Datsue-Ba
5 x Seishin
As I kept mainly to the core 'oriental' style spirits (partially because a friend of mine who will be starting Malifaux has a small fear of the Grudge, and psyching him out before each game will be somewhat delicious) my list is built around that, but I figure the spirit energy she draws upon would 'call' the Hanged to her, especially whilst within the Malifaux city limits.
But that might be the latent writer in me wanting to burst out and make everything fluffy xD
[Edit= for summons I have 2 x Shikome, 2 x Gaki, 4 x Onryo and of course the Ikyro so sort of summoning powerhouse approach I guess?]
Using Jackdaw
in The Resurrectionists
Posted
I've avoided taking him for this reason; I've got nothing against people using him, but with any wargame I play I try and win without taking the popular 'big-hitters' (I.e Pedro Kantor for 40k etc etc etc)
Saying that, his abilities are all really, really nice, and it IS very tempting to take him with Kirai - but it hinges a lot on placement and using him properly, which I can't even manage with the core parts of my crew yet =P
