  1. I don't think she's too powerful at all, just has some tough things going for her (especially with Lost Love on her side so she heals and gains spirit). Using Lilith and Nephilim to counter her is a really strong combo, since they have such strong melee attacks, though it's weakened significantly by "spirit", and the tots not really being able to get near them without running in fear away from most of her units.

I'd say that, if anything, I'd like her to gain a couple of wounds so she can last longer, as the best strategy to deal with her I've found is to run in and hit her until she's dead, and then worry about her crew. I look forward to taking on Hamelin though so I can have a good comparison...

  2. Welcome to the other side of the Breach! I think you'll find (as I have) that as you paint one crew, you start liking the idea of another crew, and another, and another.... There really is no bad starting crew though!

  3. I had assumed it was an official ruling because the thread had been closed after that was put forth as the final result. Mayhap a board cleansing(lots of pros and cons)? (just wanted to explain my angle, not trying to be argumentative)

I do understand, and look forward to something gaining the "Cruel" ability so that it can ignore "Pitiful" (like a Neverborn that is truly the stuff of nightmares...)

  4. Terrifying models still need to test for Pitiful.

Seamus does need to make the Wp test before he can put a hole into Kirai.

But it says on the thread that, as a terrifying unit, you don't have to perform a WP test to attack a pitiful unit if you are terrifying.

This helps me out as I can't say how many times my Mature Nephilim has been about to crush Kirai to bits and then decided "nah, she's just too pitiful for me to be a bloodthirsty monster about it"

  5. Lillith is pretty much a tank, but she's pretty straightforward about it (has kind of a "punch it to death, if that doesn't work, punch harder" attitude). So I'd go with that if you're looking for Neverborn with the intent to NOT annoy.

But as others have said (reworded) pretty much every master in the game is annoying to some degree (I personally have a lot of trouble with Kirai at the moment) but they all have a weakness as well that can be used against them (Go in to kill Kirai as early as possible, ignoring other spirits if possible).

I'd just choose whichever one you like the look of the most right now (so Pandora) and if you're worried that the other player(s) won't have fun, do what I do, start throwing the game enough so they still have a challenge, but not enough that they can tell you're doing it (or maybe talk about the battle afterwards to go over strategy on how you could have been defeated, and hopefully they will do the same for their crew). I have to do the former for players who get upset very easily (like my nephew that's 8), but get to do the latter much more often and find it VERY satisfying.

  6. I haven't gotten a BB Shaman yet, just those pictured above (sadly). I plan on getting another Mature Nephilim, 2 BB Shaman, and Nekima.

My wife is playing Kirai, so I don't get ANY blood from her units so I have to provide my own for growth, so I figured that I could use the BB for that. Course, I also want some Lelu and Lilitum so that I can bolster my army with their summoning. I'll probably get one or two units in the next two weeks (things are tight right now :frusty: )

Nekima has an ability to give a mask to all other nephilim, within range, for a given ability, so if I do that for casting, and then have the BB sacrifice his own blood, he gains 2 blood tokens instead of just 1! by using this in concert with Nekima's other ability to give large bonuses to nephilim that are trying to grow, plus her ability to add regeneration 1 to all nephilim in the area, I'm looking at a potential 2 growths per turn! It is rather costly to do though, and puts a lot on specific creatures so I'll have to see how it does on the field (I love to try out various strategies, even if I'm fairly sure they'll destroy me, cause sometimes those work and then you feel really cool!).

  7. I liked it! It's definitely something that I could not do myself, and found quite enjoyable. I think it does a great job of introducing people to the figures a little bit and gets them excited. Also, great paint job! I love how the colors bring them together as a collective unit, but also make them each stand out on their own!

I do think the music was more fitting of the Neverborn than the Ortega clan, but then again, the Ortega's are about as close to Neverborn you can get as a human (and not be skinned), so it's good.

If possible I may attempt to do something similar, though I'm sure it would not look as good! I'm especially in awe of that rotating shot! I had to go back and watch it again!

    :congrats::thrasher::rock:

  8. Nice, i am still waiting for my first crew, buti think Lilith will be my second!

Excellent! I look forward to exchanging war stories with you, since i get the impression we both have some similarities in this matter (I also paint for relaxation, and am very much looking forward to making a landscape). Maybe I'll have to bring my Crew across the Ocean to you so we can have a matchup! Y'know, when I haven't spent all my money on figures and terrain...

  9. So after the first few posts i am ready to introduce myself, too.

I am DAGabriel aka Thomas, living in Germany next to Treviris and just about 15 min from a big USAirbase. Fell in love with the Malifaux minis a few weeks ago and just ordered my first minis, Ophelia and her Gang.

Most of my real life time i am operrating on real life persons and painting minis is my kind of relaxation.

I am working on a fantasy village and i hope it can host Malifaux, too, since the gremlins are responsible for the planned big swamp area next to the village graveyard. First pics to be found here!

I'm in awe of your village thus far! Thanks for sharing the link, because the city that hasn't been reclaimed by The Guild is something I've been struggling with in my mind. I want to build up to it, but my goal is to make a vast play-table that has a little bit of everything in it (not truly a possible thing, but I've got some ideas that may be able to make it work, I'll post about it later when I actually write it out/have tried a bit more of it).

  10. Er.. that's the easiest Strategy to beat a normal Hamelin crew with. Rats count for 2ss every time you kill them and come back.. If you have a crew with lots of AOE like Ramos you can farm them for more SS than your crews worth in a turn or 2.

This is the exact reason why I am debating between Hamelin or the Dreamer for my next Crew!
