  1. The one in enemy deployment zone is automatic isnt it? so you only have to get withing 6 inches of it.

It's automatic, but both must be placed touching opposing table edges. This means you can attach one to a "neutral" table edge in that zone, but the other one will be all the way accross the map diagonally.

I think its an awesome and fluffy scheme. I think the only difficulty is estimating 6" away from eachother - Get it less than perfect and you'll have to place more markers, take too much of a risk and you'll lose all the points. Tough :/ If you were allowed to measure, I think it would be better.

  2. Funny... I really enjoyed painting coppelius! So different to other models I'd done so I guess thats why I liked it.

Dont want to paint my chompy yet. Had him for ages and still havent painted it.

Kaeris, steampunk dorothy, and sue have all been chores to paint (or are currently PiP) - I dont know why, possibly just so many details so not too fun.

Flipside, Collodi was lovely. Teddy was lovely, coryphees were lovely. Fire gamin were a lot of fun, Hamelin was a joy. Not sure why any of these, just have a few fond memories of doing them :)

  3. I'd give them a whole unified base. Why? Because it looks better.

If I was doing Z, and just her, I'd probably go with a swamp theme. Bit obvious, I know. Dockland bases painted bayou-ey, or swamp bases, on every model.

However, my neverborn are all on orphanage bases so I'll probably do them like that, just for consistency.

  4. You know I think I meant to get 2 mobile tool kits and got the creations instead. errrr. Thanks for the info. I'm just starting out so, still kinda confused on the hiring part

Bases are really inspired. Lazarus looks good. I wonder if you could make the steambourg look better by re-highlighting the skin? or drybrushing it with your base colour?

Let us/me know what you need to know about hiring, and we'll sort it out :)

  5. I have various things that help motivate me to paint.

Firstly, malifaux is much better for keeping up than something else, like warhammer or kings of war. Painting 5 individual models is much nicer than painting 50 exactly the same.

First thing I think is to enjoy it. Seems obvious, but really take pride in certain minis. Every mini, if possible. Try new techniques, constantly push yourself. On the flip side though, recognise when an area or model is done, and whilst you could do more, you can also leave it as is.

Podcasts, tv I've seen, music all help. Stick them on, have a blast. Focus on one or two models at a time.

I've recently been trying to paint a bit every day. This is hard inbetween college and work, but even just sticking a wash on a base counts. This gets me to pick up a brush, which is often the hardest part.

You say you do 3 weeks on, a few weeks off. There's really nothing wrong with this, and if it leaves you with a few half-painted crews... Push yourself to finish those last few models. Knock out one model at a time, one crew at a time. Eventually, you'll finish them, and it'll be a great feeling :)

Finally, I tend to buy a lot more minis than I can paint. So for a few months now, before I buy a new model, I wait till I've finished a current model. Spreading out your purchases like this, or holding off on new crews until you finish your current ones, will save you money, and make your workload less intense.

    Good luck :)

  6. Having put together a large steampunk arachnid, I have to say, I would LOVE for it to be re-modelled in plastic. I'd buy two.

Coryphee duets too. They dont need it, the metal sculpts are lovely, but the arms are ALWAYS falling off. plastic would mean I could get a better join.

Warden would be nice in plastic. (As would the guardian.) I assume the peacekeeper too, though I've never made one.

pigapult could do with it. Can't think of any other outcasts (Maybe the desolation engine). No rezzers, neverborn wise maybe the big stuff? Teddy - Though he's one piece in metal, so really not a problem.

  7. Looks lovely. Really lovely. Crisp white, great red and black. Wooden bits are thematic but not overpowering. Almost perfect :P Really lovely...

So lovely infact, I may just go and buy the model.

Original colour scheme is amazing though, and would fit right with my neverborn. (Or anyone's neverborn) so painting it like yours is definitely a interesting option :P

  8. Looks good, cheers.

On a side note, I dont think we'll be seeing an individual Jakob blister, nor a group illuminated blister. (And the same for mei feng, railworkers, misaki and tokkage) which means the only place to get any of these models, masters, totems, or minions, is in the box set.

Not sure how I feel about that :/

  9. In my head, you're trying to build a single model/diorama with that list of parts and my imagination's having a field day trying to guess what. :)

haha this made me chuckle... Actually no :/

-Storm is for a painting project. Maybe used as an alt rasputina, dont want the crew but really fancied making some big, over the top ice/snow bases so getting various figures to put on them.

-Ice golem puppet is to proxy as an essence of power.

-Tentacles are to convert clockwork traps for my friends lucas crew.

-Other puppets are just as something to paint, but I dont want to shell out £50 on the box. (Atleast, not till it comes out in plastic)

-Miss terious is for a conversion, possibly for roleplaying.

Apologies for having burst your bubble ;) If you want, I could lie and pretend to be working on some big diorama? :') My painting's nowhere near good enough for that kind of thing yet :/

  10. I'm not sure why I should ever use this guy. He's fast but not all that great at anything. I think there should be someway for mindgames to hurt models that are ItI. Maybe a damage profile for non ItI models which ignores armor and a different profile for those with ItI. Or possibly just a different ability that is useful against ItI models.

I didnt want to make him OP... No-one would let him be used if that was the case. He's not a competitive choice, I just wanted to see how I could represent a spooky wally character in game :P

I'll add the wording to the list of things to clarify :)

  11. can someone tell me what the base sizes are for the dark debts releases as i want to order scenic bases asap so that i can hopefully get them at about the same time as my gencon order. i want to get these assembled and on the table as quick as possible

Jacob, illuminated and tannen are on 30mm,

    Graves is on a 40mm,

    Hungering hippo is on 50mm.

  12. I use KR aquila bags for different crews and factions. Makes it easy to take a single crew to a game, meaning I can carry everything I need in a messenger bag. I keep all stat cards in the relevant cases.

Bags are arranged by faction and crew. Example, my rezzers are all in a single double bag. (Twice as thick.), however my hamelin crew is in its own bag, and my collette crew, seperate to my other arcanists. (I dont tend to mix them.)

Each bag holds 20 model or 25 little ones. Double bags hold 40. Stat card pictured for scale.

  13. Hi all,

Been musing over some ideas for minions this week, and finally got round to using ratty's great card creator. The inspiration for this model is a creepy where's wally kind of figure... Sighted in crowds all around malifaux, only for a few seconds, then he disappears. I'd like the face to be more like slenderman, if possible, just to make him seem more neverborn. I'll update the card if I sketch him, possibly, and when I make the model, definitely.

Enjoy :) Comments, crits, and feedback. This is only version 1.0 :)
