  1. I used one of wyrds very own stolen, with a flamebase kobold

    scaled.php?server=43&filename=iggytu.jpg&res=landing

This was my fall back option - I saw it when you posted your crew a while back, and whilst I like it, and think that stolen is a great model to use, I've already painted him once for my hamelin crew, dont want to buy the pack of 3 models, and and would prefer something with more fire :P

  2. Hi all,

I've seen a picture of the iggy model, which means it's going to be out in a month or two. here.

That said, I'm getting my Kaeris crew in a few days, and want to use him. Whats a good proxy for him until then? Any manufacturer, preferably cheap, preferably looking like the artwork, and preferably an interesting model to paint, but whatever you can suggest/show me what you've been using would be much appreciated :)

  3. Hi all,

So I'm playing the other day and I come across a great idea... Take schemes that require similar goals, so you can effectively knock them both out at once.

I took kill protege, against my friends rezzers. His most expensive model was mortimer, so I took kidnap and picked mortimer and 2 belles. I'd have been concentrating my efforts on mortimer anyway, so why not take kidnap on him instead of the third belle?

Another one that struck me was if you or your opponent gets one of the schemes that require YOUR master to be somewhere at the end of the game... Take bodyguard along with it, because either your master will be alive and you'll be getting the 2-4vp, or he wont be, so make it 4-6 while you're at it.

Destroy evidence or plant evidence, and either sabotage and reclaim malifaux if you're arcanists or neverborn seem like a good bet.

So am I onto something, or is this old old news? What combos have you found especially potent?

    Jack

  4. Never seen a red scheme used on Kaeris and I think you pulled it off very well :D

Hate the female gunsmith model with a passion, but love the proxy and the fact you have a crew thats all girls is very cool for theme :) Let me know if you dont want the male gunsmith, I'll definitely make an offer if you're in the UK.

I like the skin of the gamin, but not the fire :/ You did what eavy metal used to do on all the games workshop models with fire on, which was to highlight the opposite way with a darker colour on top. I just dont like it very much, but thats my opinion, and your technique is good either way :)

Keep it up, I'd love to see more.

  5. How many people would you say (as a percentage) use proxies (and I mean decent proxies not sponges....).

Are the PP/WM/Hordes miniatures appropriate for the setting or are they too "extreme"?

This really warrants its own thread, but here's a quick rundown of what I think.

I love making suitable proxies and nice counts as for malifaux models. Especially, but not limited to models that havent been released yet. I genuinely get a kick out of making a model not many people will yet own, and being able to use it. An example of this is I made a weaver widow. Also, if I dont like the original models, or cant think of a sub, or dont like the rules for a particular model will occasionally run something else as them, or count them as something else. An example of this is I have 5 M&SU rioters, with mining gear and stuff. I run them as desperate mercs, as I want to run a few of them and dont quite like the union miner rules. I run them as customers at the star theatre, rioters, miners, whatever in my arcanist crews. I also dont like the rules for guild guard... I might use those models (who I like very much) as desperate mercs in any guild crews I run.

On the flip side, I do get bummed out when people use bad proxies. I've not yet refused a game, but depending on my mood, I can see it happening in future. What annoys me is not just subbing in something as a one off, eg, a primordial magic as a arcane effigy, who doesnt yet have a model, and you'd like to try the rules, I find this pretty fine. On top of that, if you were to continue using the primordial magic as the effigy, because you liked its rules, Id probably be fine with that. But when the actual models released, using the primordial magic just because you dont want to buy and paint the arcane effigy is very poor show, in my opinion.

  6. So yeah, as a budding kaeris player myself, here's how I understand it to work:

    1st shot - 6:tomes:tomes - Trigger goes off automatically.

    2nd shot - 5:tomes - Trigger goes off if you flip/cheat a tome.

3rd shot - 4 - Trigger goes off if you flip/cheat a tome, then burn a SS and flip a tome.

4th shot - 3 - Trigger goes off if you flip/cheat a tome, then burn a SS and flip a tome.

  7. Personly I would prefer 11, 12 and 13 instead of Jack queen and king, I love shape of suits.

Actually, I prefer the king, queen and jack pictures. I'd prefer numbers to anything malifaux related, like portraits of the masters, but I think pictures, if done in the right style, look awesome :') And it's not too hard to decypher what number they are in a duel.

My logic for no maliaux characters is... I like to think of these as something you'd find in the sleaziest inn in the quarentine zone, backstage at the star theatre, in mctavish's shack, etc. It'd be weird to have mali characters on there, especially if the rezzer masters havent been discovered by the guild yet :P

That said, there used to be a tax on playing card decks in olden times. To find out if the tax had been paid, the ace of spades was stamped. This lead to ornately designed aces of spades. Something similar like "GUILD TAX PAID" stamped over the top of the ace of crows (or rams) would be soooo cool :P

  8. Yes, they are. I just cut them away from the backpack, and then reattached them at a better angle, while curving them a bit by hand. This gives a better illusion of flight.

Well they look very nice :P I was considering getting some alt mechanical wings from somewhere, because I dont like the originals, but you've made them look so nice I'll give them a go :)

  9. A very very nice conversion. Works perfectly as a tuco :D

Constructive criticism, (not that I could do any better, but it is always nice to evaluate these things :P) is yeah, the horns, I'd be tempted to grab some WHFB spears or something out of your bits box, and cut just the tips off. With really small horns, you can just paint them a spot colour and they'll really stand out, offsetting their smallness.

    Shotgun looks great ::D

  10. This section is for ALL Malifaux related events, not just tournaments, so feel free to post.

Can you clarify which day the event is on, and I'll add you to the google+ calendar.

And certainly make a day of it - visitors may not be able to stay late if they are travelling.

Yeah, it'd be great to have a whole day of malifauxing, anyone planning to come not currently in our club would be best to contact me and we'll sort out whatever you fancy for the day :)

Game is on wednesday the 11th april, the first wednesday after easter sunday :) 1700-2200ish :)
