I keep going back and forth on whether or not I can afford Gen Con. I want to come out and compete but it'll either be a strain on the pocket book or a strain to drive there and back from Champaign (a 2 hour drive) in a day.

Mr. Bigglesworth has it. On the card itself Massive Dose says the model receives one effect. Those effects have different pros/cons, but it's all lumped under one name. Shrug off says to get rid of one effect, which if used on a massive dose effect would remove Painkillers, Speed, or Stimulant, along with their benefits/penalties
Apologies to Mr. Bigglesworth, you have the right of it. I just felt that a little elaboration would help clear things up.

The only real question, what to call ourselves?
Off the top of my head? Dead Entertainment, otherwise I got nuthin'

D'oh!
Why are you exposing my actual motive of having a Scotch tasting with the Wyrd employees?
I see this ending with a lot of Malifaux players and Wyrd employees standing around wearing monocles and top hats swirling brandy glasses and looking all classy.

Also maybe not run events till 2 in the morning on very little sleep. Saturday night was rough on everyone.
I heartily agree! I was out of steam on Sunday because I got out of the story tourney as late as I did. I should've just taken a night to cool off. The drive home was a tad treacherous.

As for people I want a match/rematch with next year
Both Cheated Fates guys (Joe and Spencer)
Bill "Nix" Anderson, whom I have never played(mostly because he will school me)
Andrew "Guy in Suit" Weakland, because he did school me in the last round of Qualifiers #1
And next year I am going to form a team of my own and play in the Tournament. I expect the Team tournament may outstrip our Masters events next year.
You and I have a common cause; though I wonder if a rematch might fry my circuits completely. I support this building of a team and request to join, otherwise Fetid Strumpet and I may build our own team! But then we'd need to make a podcast as well.

I can't get over how awesome the Pig Cake was! Delicious and wonderfully made. The real winner that night was all who tasted delicious Pig Cake, which tasted more like vanilla cake than bacon, but that's part of the fun.

I thought the win-or-go-home format was really awesome. Of course I may have thought differently if my day ended round 1 *wink*
It would have been a VERY different story ;-) No matter how you cut it, that game really tested my mettle, win or lose, and will stand out for many games to come :-)

People should be ready for interior tables next year. There will be quite a few of them.
I love the amount of thought/background that went into the board, it was the first board I played on and I had a lot of fun with it! The only suggestion/request I could make is to put some more touches on the building portions. Lichen, scones, stains, or graffiti. They were looking lonely.
And Nilus has promised to shanghai me to help with terrain last year if I'm not careful.
-
A few of those boards look kind of quickly thrown together to me. Best ones are definitely the small village one with all the nice buildings, and the one with the green radioactive sewage or whatever. I love the sewage board, but it looks like it'd be extremely cramped to play on. How did that work out? Did it play alright? I'd like something like it myself if so!
The sewer board was pretty cool to play on! The "buildings" were not attached and could be removed. The difficult part was the grating across the center. While you could fit a Seishin/Ht 1 model underneath there were some complications getting them in/out. The corridors were a bit narrow and you almost had to move the buildings to get them.
That being said there were some nice little touches to really bring it to life, like rats running around in the sewer water.

I think there needs to be a follow up with a battle report

Eric - It was great that you had a chance to come back for Vengeance on table one with Hamelin!
Also, great game round 1 on Sunday with Nytmare - I was basically losing the whole time and was already planning to put on my swimsuit and get in the hottub after, then pulled a win out of my ass on the very last turn - 'close' barely describes it! Probably the tightest games I've had this year.
By Nytmare do you mean Mydnight? The guy playing McM with The Von? That game was EPIC! Win or lose don't enter into it, there was smoke coming up from both our brains by the end of the match @_@
If there is another member named Nytmare then that would be two games in the finals that were incredible!

Awesome con, I had a great time and maybe next year I can help with a bit more of the work :-)
Also, you have not tasted true awesome until you've had pig cake. PIG CAKE!!!

There weren't a lot of Neverborn there definitely. I found myself pitted against 2 Guild players in the Friday Qualifier, Guild again at Saturday Story event followed by Zoraida and Ophelia. Sunday I got knocked out first round by Viks in a VERY intense/close game.

Hope you all, and everyone in attendance, had a great time. I know I did. I was the tall Rules Marshall who didn't need a megaphone and wishes he saw more gremlins being played.
Greg/Sub
You mean the one who could perforate ear drums of unsuspecting players who walk in front of you with poor timing? ;-)
@Swizz: Welcome to the game! I don't know if you saw me floating around, but I was the guy wearing the Fedora.

I ended up going back to Adepticon and was able to track down my camera. I also managed to make it home safe and sound. Good times had by all!

To anyone left at the Finals on Sunday, I left my digital camera at the tourney area behind the table. If anyone saw it or picked it up I'd like it back please ;_; It has pics from the cake tourney on there, it's a Canon. I'll post more details when I'm back at home and can figure out what model as I'm sleep deprived at the moment. I'll pay shipping to get it back. ;_;

I've been using the two so far and they definitely make a combo (Kaeris and Raspy). The big thing I've noticed is that Kaeris only has one spell that is not dependent on your opponents models having a burning token, and that spell is firewall. Having Fire Gamins available to throw down some more burning tokens will help maximize Kaeris' efficiency.
I also share your opinion on the Student of Conflict, but I have one and need to get him ready and try it out before I can say for sure. Kaeris having fast would be wonderful, but @ 4 stones it's also rather pricey. WindlordRyu has a point though, it's not just Kaeris who would benefit from it, and the only person who might complain about another round of cursing from December would be your opponent.

Be careful Kirai doesn't take offense ;-) Looks great!

Fantastic job on the cloak! That is some pretty rockin' freehand :-)

Well, got a little more done. My Night Terrors are all finished but set aside for the time being (I don't feel that they were up to my normal standards). But I did get some photos for my alt flesh construct.
I was very happy with how the flesh turned out, and the model itself overall is very good and I'm happy with it. Not so sure about the base though.

I suppose that it's as written, yes...but here we follow a different "spirit of the rule" instead, which is that the effect is on until it changes. We see it more like a mode switch for the model than a spell or ability that "fires up" by activations.
I don't have my cards with me but...if the ability "vanish" at the end of the turn, would they not default back to the first mode each turn or something like that?
All abilities/effects with no stated duration expire at the end of the turn. In the case of the riders their abilities would start up on their activation each turn and expire at the end of the turn. That's how I understand it to be anyways.
-
I think the intention was them to last till another one kicks in
That's what it looks like, but since the ability is gained at the beginning of their activation the RAW would imply that it goes away at the end of the turn. That's how we played it when the question came up in regards to the Dead Rider and his fear aura, since it would go away and come back it would count as a new fear effect.

One thing I'd like to chip my 2 cents in is Outcasts. As has been mentioned Von Schill will be very strong (I just tried him for the first time the other night, HOLY SCHNIKES!), and other models have been mentioned but I'd like to elaborate a bit on them.
Desperate Mercenary: These guys are good as they're cheap, go out in a blaze of glory if you need it, and provide a corpse counter.
Convict Gunslinger: I was told early on as a Resser that if you wanted ranged support you went to the Gunslinger. While he is not as mobile as Von Schill, he has the potential to lay down a LOT of firepower as well as being a cheaper option. No other model that I own has a higher kill score than he does. While it is mostly luck, if you end up with a high mask in hand it can be really easy to get off multiple shots (especially considering the paired pistols).
I have only recently gotten the Viks box and haven't had time to try Taelor, Bishop, and the others, so I got nothing there.

It wouldn't be the first time, and a 2-hour drive is nothing when you do 2 hours or more regularly for work. Then again, if you do 200 miles a day, 5 days a week, doing it again on the weekend loses some of it's sparkle. That being said it's become dangerous to think about Gen Con because then I want to go and play again! I had so much fun last year. I might even see if I can't coax my partner in crime, Fetid Strumpet, to come along as well.
