1. Yeah, I've only chosen my masters based on who I like, so that's not an issue. What I meant was, do the Archanists have some anti-other faction masters skill wise?

I mean, say you were playing against Seamus, which master would be best to take from the Archanists? McMourning? Or is there a general Anti-Resser setup? What about Guild, who would you take? Neverborn?

That is the kind of thing I should have posted in the first post.

Ahh...ok, thats what I wanted to know.

Thanks,

Clay

Nilus sums it up. The Guild's theme/flavor is being pitted against factions (mostly book one). Arcanists have a magic heavy theme, which is really cool :-) There isn't a theme of "master 'x' is good vs. faction 'y'" for Arcanists though. I may be speaking a little redundantly here.

2. Well if they have an answer for everything, wouldn't they be the obvious choice as the best faction?

We could debate endlessly on which faction is best (because we all know in our hearts that it's Ressers), but the reality of it is that you should pick a faction you have fun playing. Whether it's playstyle, aesthetics, or whatever no one else is playing. If something you pick isn't working, proxy some models and try other stuff out. As much as I LOVE Nicodem I find I have more fun playing McMourning (though I still use Nico from time to time).

3. Sorry for being a noob but i get confused so much.

(0) Leap spell on the sabertooth cerberus, Silurids and Jackalope all say...

Move this model up to its cg.

Does this move take up a general AP or do i just move the model and still have 2 AP's left to spend?

thanks in advance

The movement is an effect of the spell and does not use any AP (beyond the 0 AP used to cast the spell).

4. Hey guys, we're getting the summer started off with an Achievement League at Armored Gopher Games in Urbana IL

5. Here are some closer shots of the conversion that are in Nilus's photo's

Having recently assembled aRamos and now seeing this, I gotta buy another steamborg and the alt and do a conversion. This looks much more stable and easier to transport.

6. Big ol' BUMP!

I'll be at GenCon again this year, and I actually have a few of these already built right now. So, if you'll be at GenCon too, and want some of these, let me know ASAP so I have time to build them. Or, if you're not going to be at GenCon and are interested, let me know too!

I enjoy building these and spreading the LED-goodness around the community. Heck, these would be fun additions to your 'Dead Heat' campaign games, even just for terrain addition, to show the destruction and fires around town. :)

Then you can do crazy stuff like selling them to some crazy resser mid-tourney :D

7. Okay so Nightmare Nathan and Eric. I am thinking we need to think in lines of model pairs. So

Nathan LCB and Ericj Dreamer?

Nathan the Sword Mister and Ericj the Bounty Hunter?(if this is the case, please please please don't make the nightmare part be them both being half naked :) )

Any others we can think of, or maybe just going off the wrong track here.

I think you guys are missing the big picture, Nathan (NE Lelu) and EricJ (Lililitu) :D

~I may very well regret this post

8. We know a new faction will be released, but I like Strumpet's speculation that it'll pull from the factions rather than adding an entire new one. I must say that Gen Con is going to be exciting, but it will be difficult to figure out what to buy day 1 since I'll need to know what models I want to get and which I don't want to. I'm still reeling from all the excitement :D Looking forward to more Molly love!

9. Anything that I would add has already been said:

~ Steady release schedule

~ More Terra Clips

~ FAQ/Errata

As to feeding the rabid fans who can't get enough, I would like to add that I've been very pleased getting a teaser for the upcoming releases. A month in advance I get to buy new stuff and set a goal to paint them before the next set of new stuff comes out.

10. To convert "Wanted for Questioning" to a Story Encounter, make the following changes:

• Flip during setup to see who picks between the arresting side and the defending side, winner decides which side they are (reflip on a tie).
• Arrested becomes a condition as follows:
* The model with Arrested gains Paralyzed and becomes Linked to the arresting model while affected by Arrested.
* The arresting model has their speed reduced to 4/- while they are Linked to the arrested model. This speed cannot be increased by any means. (They're too busy dragging their prize to hustle!)
• The arresting model may take a (1) Interact Action to either drop the Linked effect or Link the arrested model to a different model.
• A model make take a (2) Interact Action to remove the Arrested condition from a model.

The new Victory conditions are as follows:

Arresting Crew

Score 2 VP if you successfully apply the Arrested condition to your target during the encounter.

Score +1 VP if the target still has the Arrested condition when the encounter ends.

Score +1 VP if the Arrested target is in your deployment zone.

Defending Crew

Score 2 VP if the target is not Arrested when the encounter ends.

Score +1 VP if the target had Arrested removed from it by one of your models.

Score +2 VP if the target never received the Arrested condition during the encounter.

(Yes, the third victory condition for the Defending Crew is +2. That ensures that if they have an absolute victory, they get a full 4 VP just like the Arresting Crew gets 4 VP if they arrest their target and pull them all the way to their deployment zone.)

Some things to consider:

~ Perhaps changing your victory condition to include the model still being in play, otherwise you're opening the floor to someone squishing their own model for 4VP.

~ Do you choose a model in their crew or starting on the board?

~ What happens if a model becomes insignificant?

11. Looks fantastic -- brilliant job! Hope mine comes out even close to that good... Will be holding onto these pics as a reference!

Please do! This model became a little daunting as I painted it in pieces, and when I broke it down I was painting 4.55 zombies, a chair, and Nicodem himself. Everything still went by pretty quickly, but the assembly was a bit rough. I highly recommend figuring out how you want to get things assembled before painting.

12. Looks awesome!

Mine is simply assembled and primed... The thought of painting it scares me too much. though. And seeing yours just makes me think I'd think even WORSE of what I would do to mine. :)

You gotta paint it though! I always like looking at stuff that people paint, and I hope that anything I paint serves as inspiration and motivation, not a deterrent. I know you can do it!

13. So I finally finished my Nicodem Avatar and I'm VERY happy with it.

I have to give special thanks to Fetid Strumpet for pulling some emergency work when I was ready to hurl the thing across the room (I had some issues assembling the painted pieces), and thanks to his efforts my opponents will now know the true face of terror when Nicodem manifests.

There were a few twists and turns along the way, and I did what anyone would do in that situation: I started a blog

http://mydnightshobbycorner.blogspot.com

I plan to post more individual updates there detailing my processes and WIP's. I hope you enjoy! :-) shamelessplug/

14. I do need to learn the Rogue Necromancy a lot better though. Such a fragile model. But when I have the cards in hand and he can charge... death everywhere.

I just wish he had some sort of healing. Keeping him at "more than half wounds" has been hard.

In all the times I've played McMourning (and that is a LOT of times), I don't think I've seen the Rogue Necromancy get past its first activation more than half a dozen times. When you put it on the board it becomes the focus for your opponent, which as Fetid pointed out is a great strategy. It's a very nice Paralyze that sometimes gives a little more bite.

15. LOL, more like whenever someone in the state seems to want to be a Henchman they always come to me first and ask how to do it and then I volunteer to give a good word for them in with the Wrangler. Not sure if it helps or hurts anyone but I always give them a heads up that your app is coming and vouch for you guys. :)

That would make you the IL God father (Avatar?) then :D

I'll have to see what is going on that weekend. Perhaps I can make a pilgrimage to G+ B-)

16. Now, this might just be me misunderstanding things as a new Malifaux player; but I find the Executioner vs Executioner example to make no sense.

Why is the attacking player penalized in the Slow to Die / Love the Job example? In this case, if both of the Executioners were low on wounds, none of the players would want to activate and attack the other Executioner since they'd then be in risk of not only suffering a Slow to Die action, but somehow having the defending player having their model being healed to full wounds and quite possibly their activation still remaining.

It seems wierd to promote a "pass" or "move" action instead of a "strike" when the two models are already engaged.

Though there may be some sound reasoning for this that I've just missed..

I believe the example is just that, an example. It's intended to show order of operations, and the way in which things resolve. As you noticed it probably isn't the best strategy to take.

17. A lot of stuff to take in. I will spend much time in meditation as there are little nuances that will have quite an impact.

If you could add a bit more of a clarification that total wounds suffered by a model is the total damage dealt (as Ratty clarified in this thread: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?24756-On-damage-triggers-and-wound-prevention&p=307307#post307307 ), I believe it would help us McMourning players :D

Another question regarding blinding flash: if Collette swaps with another showgirl who becomes the target of the attack, does this start a new duel or is the attack resolved against the new target?

18. Well the app will have the blessing of the Godfather, so it should go through assuming you don't answer the questions like a serial killer. Even then it still may pass, have you met some of the Henchman around here :)

You make Wyrd an offer they can't refuse eh? I'm still waiting to become a made (Hench)-Man B-)

19. Hello guys/girls,

i've got 3 questions in my mind, would you be so kind and help me clear those?

The Guardian:

• Can you kill the Guardian via Protect? In other words: can he took that much damage it would kill him? He takes Wds here, not Dg, the spell's description does not say anything about allowing him to die.
• If he can die like this, what happens if he is a target of Kill Protegé? Is this a valid kill for the points?

Enslaved Nephilim:

• What happens when this model takes the (1) Magical Extension spell for Perdita's Execute? Does he gain a ~magical~ Peacebringer to make that strike because he does not have any ranged weapons?

Thanks in advance,

Yosh.

Here's my take on your questions:

~ The Guardian wouldn't be able to be killed by protect since the text of the spell says that he may take the wounds that are coming at the target of his spell. As per damage rules you can't take damage from your own spell that would reduce your wounds to 0. I realize that the text in the mini rule book refers to Dmg, but if you look a little further down it uses the Punk Zombies Self Mutilate spell as an example, and that spell causes Wnds. It's a bit fuzzy, but that's my take on it.

~ Going with my previous statement makes the Kill Protege question inert. It is worth noting that Kill Protege requires one of your models to deliver the killing blow, and in a hypothetical example above they would not get it since the death would have come from the Guardian's own effect.

~ Mr. Bigglesworth has it on the Enslaved Nephilim. Technically the spell would be cast, but since the totem uses its own card and not Perdita's, he is not able to take advantage of it. This brings up the question though of does this action count as a failed cast, or is it just using up cards? Since the thing that causes the spell to fizzle isn't the lack of a requirement, just a lack of equipment.

20. The spell fails, you can not exceed the rarity of a model

Nilus has it. Since the spell would fail none of its costs would be triggered (So Nicodem wouldn't draw the cards and Levi wouldn't take the wounds). However the AP used to cast the spell would be spent as if you had failed to fulfill the casting cost if my memory is correct.

As for sportsmanship, certainly it's better to let your opponent know in a friendly game. At a tournament where the stakes are a bit higher you'll have to use your own judgement. I usually let my opponent complete the action since he might be scheming something I'm not (like sacrificing two shikome to summon a shikome with Kirai, for example). If he completes the action and I see no scheming, I politely inform him of the issue and go from there. Whatever your stance, politeness is the key :-)

21. Welcome to Malifaux! Check your sanity at the door and enjoy your complimentary soul stone :-) Fetid got the drop on things but I also wanted to say hi! We both do a lot of painting and bang heads together a lot. The Gopher has a lot of new players showing up and it'd be great if you joined us. Whether you're looking for fun games or something more intense I'm sure we can set you up with a variety of opponents. Feel free to drop us a PM :-)
