  2. Another Insidious Madness is NOT needed. 1 is more than enough. In all honesty, I don't even run 1 at times and do just fine without it. :)

    Barby

I run a Pandora crew, currently with the basic box plus Doppleganger and Insidious Madness. I just picked up Copellius, Teddy and 2 Stitched Togethers to give me some flexibility and the ability to run her from several different perspectives.

My question then is that I noticed I can take more than one Insidious Madness... is it going to be worth my while buying a 2nd? Will I ever put together a Pandora list with 2 Madnesses?

    Thanks

  3. It's ok. I didn't take it in a bad way. I actually thought about it and I am writing my Viktoria experiences and thoughts up for Karn so that he can use it to improve the Vik tactica. LOL.

    Thanks,

    Barby

@ Barby: Sorry, I wasn't meaning to say that you should write the Viks tactica, as that would be silly, since you were asking for it so you could get some help. Was more referring to yslaire about Sonnia.

  4. - Hands down RONINS are a must. The Viks ability "Another One" is just awesome. It's like, having a back-up in case you miscalculate and get one of your Viks killed.

    - Taelor is good too cause you use her for the cheese... She pushes models within 3" of her 3" away from her so you use her to push the Viks up 3" before even activating.

    - As far as Hans and Gunslinger goes, I haven't played them although I did order a Convict Gunslinger. When I play the Convict, I'll let you know.

    Good luck and thanks,

    Barby

Okay starting to figure all this out. So follow question as I have the Viks and the Friekorps box.

I'm looking at Hans, Gunslinger, Taelor and a pack of Ronin. Now necessarily wanting to buy them all if I'm unlikely to use them (given the 0 cache thing and that we play at 35ss) which of these should be higher priority purchases or should I snag the lot to give me that flexibility?

  5. - First, I'm glad to see that my forum is helping not only me, but other Viks players. I think she is great but her company needs work. Also, her fluff is amazing. The fluff is what attracted me to get her.

    - Also, I spoke to Karn and I'm beginning to write my own bit of tactica for the Viks based on my personal experience and interpretation. As soon as I'm done, I'll be sending it to Karn for review and will let you guys know what the finality is.

Thanks everyone for your help. Keep The Viks ideas coming!!

  6. - First I'd like to say that the Malifaux Chronicles are awesome. I can't wait until vol. 4 comes out.

    - I love fluff! I feel that without fluff, the models don't mean anything. Fluff is important in many aspects. Fluff attracts you to a particular character and/or faction, makes you hate a particular character/faction, explains why a character my look a certain way. explains why a character has certain stats/actions/triggers/spell, explains what factions do and why, etc.

    - I hope to see more fluff coming soon. :) Fluff makes all the difference and it has made the difference for me.

    Thanks,

    Barby

  7. Yeah Pandora is hard to start out with. There's a lot going on with her. Fortunately, there's tactica and podcasts on her to help you out. You can't say the same about some other casters. I started out with Pandora and did great. I picked up The Dreamer which I ended up not liking and so I just picked up The Viks. Good luck!

    Barby

OK, I've proxied a couple of games with Pandora, against my chosen demo army Perdita.

I can conclude that I think I need to start with a different army while I start out.

So, I'm probably going to end up having to buy Lelith to start, then Perdita as the demo army, then Pandora for myself.

  8. Thanks Scurry!! :dancing:I will most definetly try this list out since it's all stuff that I own (don't own but ordered Ronin and Convict Gunslinger). Thanks!

no her box isnt very good. convict gunslinger is prob next thing i would get and run:

    Viks

    Ronin x2 (10)

    Gunslinger (5)

    Librarian (7)

    Taelor (8)

    = 30 with a cache of 5

I totally agree about the list LoboStele! I'm gonna try it out. Thank you! :)

Yeah, I think a Convict Gunslinger is probably what you're missing, Barby. I know I haven't played my Viks for quite a while either, and it's partly because I just haven't had the time to pick up either the Freikorps or the Gunslinger. But the list Scurry posted is overall a really great list for 35SS. In general, I like to try and shoot for the full 8 SS when I can though, so I would consider dropping Taelor and going with a 3rd Ronin instead or perhaps the Freikorps Trapper, depending on your objectives.

Absolutely GTFriday! Glad we agree. As far as schemes go I normally/usually do Thwart, First Blood, and/or Eye for and Eye. And don't worry., I'll keep everyone posted on how the list goes.

Some would call me crazy, but I love Misaki. Using her effectively requires a lot of effort, otherwise she'll just run in and get killed. But she is also a great threatening tool (4/6/8 damage from one spell, 6" range from another) that works well as a clean-up or flanking piece.

I agree with your thoughts on Bishop and Johan. Bishop is too expensive for what he does and having a Ronin is better points-wise than Johan (until they come out with another M&SU Merc).

I also agree that list composition is key to using the Viks well: think about strats and schemes and plan accordingly. Mercs have tough models, fast models, high damage models, denial models... Play around with them to see how you enjoy running them, and pick schemes to match that play-style and models to compliment that and your strategy. Proxy when you can :)

    Thanks,

    Barby :guns:

  9. Thank you Karn!! You are always so willing to help out. You have done great things. Keep up the wonderful work. I think I speak for everyone here (especially us Neverborn players) when I say I really appreciate it. I love you! :inlove: You're my Malifaux guru. LOL!

We are working hard to get PullMyFinger complete but it will still be a while, it takes hours to do an article for one model to the depth we want. So it's going to take quite some time to fill it out, but I will get a whip and see if I can motivate a few things =D

LoboStele, I would write tactica if I weren't so new to the game and if I knew what I was talking about in Malifaux. What I know about the game I learned from just playing and figuring out the rules myself as I played while using the book as a reference. Thanks to Karn, I picked up Pandora and the Dreamer easily and know what to do and how to play them well. I'm having a rough time with Viktoria though hence why I'm asking.

If you'd like to see a tactica on anybody that doesn't have one yet....then start to put it together yourself! :)

    Thanks,

    Barby

  10. Hi! The following pages....

    Pull My Finger - http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/

    Ratty's Page - http://malifaux.nezumi.me.uk/

    Tabletop Geeks - http://tabletopgeeks.com/malifaux-downloads/

... Are pages for Malifaux tactica and information. (They are great by the way.) Are there any other pages other than these for Malifaux?

Specifically are there any with the Viktorias tactica other than Pull My Finger? It seems all the tactica written is mostly Neverborn.

    Thanks,

    Barby

  11. - Thank you Necromorph. It seems that my problem is with the list composition. I use SIS and SIB: Fury A LOT and have the measurements down packed. It just seems that she's the only one doing anything.

Here's what I think of my list broken down:

Bishop- Not a favorite model. Good amount of health and good CB with Cage Fighter but it seems like he's only good when he's being attacked and missed and if he's able to set off his triggers.

    F. Librarian- I like this model. PERIOD. I love the healing flip, extra card in hand, and Counterspell.

Taelor- I like the fact that she's Hard to Kill and Hard to Wound 1 but I REALLY like her for the Hammerstrike cheese of pushing my own models up 3".

R.S. Johan- Don't like this guy at all. He just stays up for a long time because of Hard to Kill and Slow to Die.

The Viks- AWESOME! I love them because of their melee attack, SIS, and SIB. I think their health is too low compared to casters like Pandora, LCB, Lady Justice, etc. Also, I ordered a Ronin because I think "Another One?" is just awesome.

As you can tell, I need help on making a good 35ss list. I know I like the Viks, Ronin, and the F.Librarian but I don't know where to go from there as far as caster buffs/support.

    Thanks,

    Barby

They come down to two things for me, 1) List Composition and 2) Mastering the Vik's companion abilities (Like Sisters in Spirit, and Sisters in Battle).

Realistically, the Viks are pretty straightforward masters, and then need support from their crew. Their straightforwardness can make them seem easy to counter, but if you can master the art of timing and pick a crew that will support you for the job at hand, they can become incredibly devastating masters.

  12. Ok so after playing a few games with the Viks, I find that they themselves are good but have no support from her crew. No synergy. I currently only have the Viks box and the F. Librarian which is awesome for the healing flip. I read the Wiki but I don't see the specialness in the Viks right now. I have yet to win a game with them and I have played 5 games. :wallbash: Anyone mind helping me out? :frusty:

    Thanks,

  13. - Hi peoples! I learned Malifaux about a month ago and I picked up The Neverborn (Pandora Starter, Fate Deck, Rules Manual, and Tape measure). I wanted a "cute" killer army (Teddies, babies, etc.).

    - Unfortunately, not only is she difficult to learn, but she's very hated. Because I play for fun, I ended up picking up The Dreamer but wasn't to my liking. I just picked up The Viktorias box last night but have NO IDEA what works well with her. I love her fluff. I play 35ss or 50 ss games.

Any suggestions? Lists? Models? Tactica? etc.

    Thanks,

    Barby :girl:

  14. OK, looks like I'm picking up the Pandora Box Set :P

Thanks for all your help guys!

Very nice choice. It's my first choice when I started Malifaux. It's VERY hard to learn but Karn's tactica helps. I just recently picked up The Dreamer but I'm still working on Pandora's box before I get into the dreamer. Have fun!

  15. Malifaux Bag: It's a nice bag if you carry a bunch of models. As nice as the bag is, it's VERY big, the foam trays are pre-sized (so even if you have no big stuff and all small stuff you have to deal with it), and somewhat expensive. Not to mention that the Malifaux bag if any liquid lands on it gets ruined because it's a cloth material (stains, etc).

Army Transport Bag: I just got an Army transport bag for $25 and 3 foams each for like $5-8 a tray and still have room up top for books, cards, dice, etc, plus pockets. Mind you, I have all my Circle Orboros army and Malifaux crew in there. Also, if my Army Transport bag gets wet, it can just be wiped off with no stains and/or damage.

    Good luck!

  16. Well, my crew is ready to go:

    Pandora

    1- Teddy

    1-Baby Kade

    1- Candy

    1- Doppleganger

    2- Stitched Togethers

    3- Sorrows

I'm going against Colette and maniquins. I've read all of Karn's wonderful Pandora tactica (Thank you Karn you rock!)

Any advice? Things to watch out for? etc.

    Barby

  17. - I chose my master/crew purely on aesthetics. I wanted to get into Malifaux and before reading anything, I just grabbed what I liked. I picked up Pandora and Teddy. I liked the baby and cute fluffies theme. Then I asked on here for advice and added the stitched togethers and doppleganger.

    - Overall, I like to play what I like. If I don't like the pieces, I won't play them. I feel your master/crew represents you. They may look great on paper but if you don't like it, you may not do as well with them.

    - Basically, pick the box that you like (appealing) then ask for advice as to what to add to it. Play what you LIKE to play and the games will be great no matter the opponent.

  18. - I'm somewhat new and picked up Pandora's box and she's great. With her I also run 2 stiched togethers, 1 doppleganger, and 1 teddy. I love my list. Teddy has worked great for me. Go for it! I built my list purely on theme but the synergy is amazing. Let us know if you get Teddy and how you do. There's a lot to learn.

    - Don't forget to read Karn's Tactica. It helped me tons.
