  1. As a fan of both jules vern and pirates. Id love to see a captain Nemo crew. Both visually and theme wish a scimtar weilding submariner would be a nice addition. Give him an order style buff mechanic and water feature bonuses could also have a reserve mechanic where part of his crew can arriive later.

actually was starting work on a custom nemo crew, waiting for the east indian minion's model to come out to convert into Nemo (verne did say he imagined nemo as being east indian , it's not just a LoEG thing) and some ideas for a crew combining lovecraftian stuff, big daddy's, mechanical crabs, something like the cursed member's of Davey Jone's crew from the 2nd and 3rd pirates movies, and a krakenmermaid

course I'm on hiatus from any miniture projects until I secure a new place and move first

  2. yeah, I had the first volume of Empowered, that was sadly ruined when my basement flooded.

I've liked just about anything Grant Morrison's written as far as comics, so might have to check out his superman work then.

and I was a big Gen13 fan in high school, then kind of stopped reading after they nuked everyone, since I thought the series was over, and years later saw the issue that took place after, flipped through, and couldn't figure out why fairchild was still alive, apparantly a teacher, and had no mention of everyone getting nuked

And I guess you can't have a conversation about cool superheroes without bringing up the exact opposite,.. The Lamest Supers ever,...

I'll open the bidding with "The Wonder-Twins",...

    Matter Eater Lad

  3. Aquaman is monstrously powerful, even when landlocked. The Justice Friends wrecked him for literally decades to come. That said: Cap is great. Tim is really good, though he's not as good a hacker as was originally stated, there's a handful of people who outclass him by far.

That said: the New 52 has been largely god-awful. Justice League, Teen Titans, Batgirl, Hawkman, Batman books everywhere, Ed Benes, etc. Only a handful of books are actually above mediocre and not by much.

Atomic Robo, on the other hand, is amazing. One of the few remaining series I still buy.

I really haven't read many of the new 52, the whole thing about retconning some things but not others lost me quick, Barbara Gordon walking again after just a year irritated me, and I was already annoyed at bruce Wayne's 'death'. much as I like Batman, I would have had him actually dead, let Dick continue to be the new Batman, and I actually kind of liked how Damien was as Robin with Dick as Batman. But I knew they weren't going to keep Bruce dead and was right, it's comics, not even Aunt May can ever stay dead, and that's a whole other rant.

Marvel meanwhile, I've actually gotten back into reading. I had gotten out of marvel for awhile when they undid 20 years of spiderman's history to again, keep the 100+ year old senior citizen alive, and the fact I lost complete track of what had been going on in the X-universe, th last one i had picked up, the X-men had all become vampires or something.

Though I've now been catching up with X-Force, and Ironman

The only ones I've really kept up with reading regularly has been Hellboy and Atomic Robo

So he is Superman, only with the enhanced fishy smell.

I get that Aquaman can be cool and he isn't always superfriends bad, but I always find it a case of one character that is just not interesting. The fact that the things that make him different from other super heroes(his water powers) are kinda lame.

Kind of my take on Superman, I've just never found him as interesting as others like Batman or Green lantern. Wonderwoman occasionally I can get into, but half the time her own books are kind of bland and boring, depending on who's writing them, though she's great in JLA.

Now not only do we have Steph 2.0, but by all appearances Barbara is also completely insane

    .

To be fair, having over a decade of living with a serious spinal injury get condensed to just a year could have that effect on anyone.

  4. There are other subordinates to Sonnia and Lady J, but only one of each of the ladies. They're the bosses. By the same token there are plenty of rebellion cells but since everything of an consequence is done only by Luke, Leia, Han, etc players often feel like playing the little fish is... well, pointless. Few players want to play second stringers or redshirts.

it's like Dark heresy, you're often playing someone taking orders from an inquisitor higher up, usually communicating via messages or whatever. in this case we've just seen those higher ups in miniature form already. I doubt in a session of the Malifaux RPG, you're going to be riding along behind Lady J. who jumps up and kills off all the ressers in a major display of awesomeness while you almost die fighting off one measily zombie. at least if your GM's any good that shouldn't happen.

and I wouldn't want to RP lady J. as a character, I'd rather play a character of my own making, like DeathMarshal Bob, leader of Squad A. who only occasionally see's lady J. and that's mostly at the Death Marshal picnic when she gives some speach about appreciating all the hard work all the deathmarshalls do, and awards the squad with the gighest headcount.

yeah, if I GM, my campaign will have annual Death Marshall picnics, and Sam Vimes woul be chief of the Guild Guard

  5. When I worked at a deli/cafe, I made the perfect sandwich

philly cheese steak on a hero, with onions, peppers, mushrooms, wrapped in bacon, and the whole thing deep fried.

We called it the Deathwich and after splitting it with the deli owner, was told it was amazing, and never make it again.

it likely took a couple years off my life

  6. Usually you can just put a blank base on our board and just write on a piece of paper and tape to the base to say what it is.

    here's my Oiran:

    Oiran

yeah, but that's weaksauce, like using a soda can or a notebook for terrain.

anyway half my conversions and alts I use are more because i don't like the official ones, with book4 and the new digital sculpting, I'm willing to wait and see what the models themselves look like.

the rail golem I *like* except for the hands and head of the actual model, there's going to be some swaps and green stuff conversions done whenever I get one

  7. on a semi related note, I'm seeing more and more 3rd party companies putting out their on space marines, space orks, etc that could easily work in a 40k army for less than what GW want, and they're not even being that subtle about it anymore

if it weren't for the hardcoretourney players (who apparantly do still exist), there'd likely be more 4ok armies that only a fraction are actually GW minis
